It is a small hotel with a restaurant. It's rustic, as you might expect, since it's in a skiing and recreation area in the alps. The rooms are simply furnished, but comfortable and homey. The restaurant serves huge portions of a delicious version of French country cooking. I had a beef stew served over ravioli, tasty and filling. No one here speaks English. I was the only one in the restaurant that wasn't French. Even though I don't speak French, the staff were friendly and patient and we were able to communicate enough for me to check in to my room and to have dinner in the restaurant. Overall, I would definitely recommend l'Escapade if you are looking for a comfortable place to stay in the Maritime Alps.

But we noticed that they do this at a few places in this region.... Staff is friendly and helpful & the hotel is nice as well. Definitely recommend it for a nice casual family dinner.

You feel so disconnected from the outside world...which is exactly what we wanted. Yet, it is very close to the beautiful Gorge Du Verdon. -Also recommend adding that to the MUSt do list if in the area- We enjoyed playing Poquette (similar to bocce ball) on the grounds and making friends with the sweet donkeys. Everything about our time on the property was special and I couldn't recommend it more. We had breakfast and dinner twice at the newly awarded Michelin Star restaurant onsite. I fancy myself a good cook, but these people are something else entirely. My glimpse behind the curtain gave me such a deep appreciation for the extraordinary work it takes to make the masterpieces these people create daily. If you have the chance to visit this magical place, please do. Eat anything they serve you. Savor Life!
