NOTE: under new management disregard any review before February 2026
We came to the town to see the abbey and the art museum now housed in an abbey building Looking for a bite after our visit we saw this boulangerie/tea room. It was a cloudy rainy day so the outside tables were not an option. The young lady told us we could eat in the tea room in the back. Wow what a tea room! A wonderful space with a fireplace, exposed beams, beautiful flooring, nice art, all just tastefully designed. A very welcoming space any time but especially on a cold rainy day with the fire. Even the bathroom had beautiful framed sketches of local chateaux. We ordered a focaccia and a quiche both were amazing. The focaccia itself was nice and plump with a wonderful texture and the olives, tomatoes and spice toppings were excellent. The melted cheese (Gruyère I believe) took it over the top. The quiche was very well executed too. They have wine, beer, tea, hot chocolate soft drinks etc. she brought us an a desert a,ing to a chocolate brownie but soooo much better.
So why disregard the old reviews? Well a couple bought this and totally remodeled it, opening in February. The husband is the baker and the wife is front of house. Since this they reopened reviews are excellent and well deserved. wish I could here over and over, it was just no nice and the food so good.
Finally I'll say the abbey is great and historical but the art museum is very different and very special as is this boulangerie. Ps the wedding picture under the cloisters is wonderful touch. read more
