I just wanted to make you guys aware that there is a photographer among us that is scamming both couples and fellow photographers. I've seen her post in her looking for associates, second shooters, assistants, etc. and have seen several comments of people offering their services and I wanted to warn you in case that's you! I've been approached by several photographers that worked for her and she has never paid them. About half of them worked for her as a second shooter and she just never bothered showing up and didn't tell the couple/photographer until ~4 hours or more into the coverage time. She has double, triple, and quadruple booked several dates as well. I have also been approached by a few couples who have either had horrible experiences, never received deliverables, or are booked and quickly realizing that they share a booked date with multiple other couples and cannot get any type of refund. She has gone through and deleted several contracts as well to try and eliminate any type of "liability" or proof that she's refusing refunds to people who very rightfully deserve them. My own experience with this is; I was booked as her wedding photographer back in 2023. We had our consult call and immediately it was red flag after red flag. She was telling me how other photographers were "treating her horribly and taking advantage of her by adding onto the price of packages because she's a photographer too" Somehow she ended up booking me, paying the non-refund retainer, and signing the contract. I treat her as a bride over a photographer as that was what she wanted and I obligated as every girl deserves to feel like a bride during her whole wedding planning process, right? Throughout the months she would miss payments, and either make excuses as to why she couldn't pay at that time, or completely ignore me. A couple weeks prior to the wedding she is asking me all about contracts and "trying to figure out the package pricing" (which, looking back makes me realize she was probably just trying to take other photogs ideas on what to put in contracts, packages, etc.) And how the numbers weren't making sense to her of why and how much she has to pay...You're a photographer you should know this?! Anyways, we week before the wedding, I send her the contract again, and an itemized list of everything she was being charged for and all that fun stuff, which ended up proving to her that I was actually not charging her what I should have been as i was trying to help a "fellow" photog out and to gain more experience in wedding photography. 6 days before the wedding she cancels and I lose out on that money. There were points over phone call that she would also ask me to take some money off of the wedding package in exchange for her services of whatever I wanted. (Nope. No thank you) She has also done similar things to other photographers for her own wedding as well come to find out From what I've gathered, there is so much more that goes into this and many stories are coming out, but I wanted to warn fellow photographers and brides before they got scammed.
