The lunch buffet was nice but somewhat limited. The main issue was however that the places was in total chaos. Way too many visitors in comparison with the number of staff working. They did not have time to clean, keep the place tidy and stock up with e.g. cutlery. read more

We finally arrived after looking for this place for a while, I must say I was disappointed sine the only thing on the menu that was left was carrot soup or beef salad, the beef was missing from the salad but even though it looked beautiful and instead of beef we found three stones and yes they just ran out of breed too. The place has lots of potential there were just not enough people working who cared. So we just left. read more

So I had to give it a 3 because I came in at 14:30 for my meal and took my time thinking that since they close at 16:00 I had some time to get a second plate since its a buffet. Well that was not the case, apparently the buffet closes an hour earlier so when I went back to get at second plate at 15:15 they had already closed the buffet, which the lady at the cashier never told me when I purchased my buffet ticket. I barely got much on my first plate so I felt I was cheated on how much I had to pay. That was the only negative thing, so it left my stomach very empty and my wallet feeling sad. Other than that the gentleman at the bar in the backyard was super helpful, friendly and accommodating. The backyard area is a wonderful place to spend on a sunday afternoon. They have a play area for children and the bar plays really relaxed, chill music to set the tone for a relaxed Sunday Funday. I'll come again but will make sure to get there earlier to be able to get at least two plates of food since you pay 220KR per person, which is a bit pricey when they don't have that many options. read more

Leva Kungslador is probably in the top five reasons why we five Angelenos came back to Gotland all the way for another summer vacation. This food is exquisite. The bread is exactly what homemade round loaves should taste like; the butter; the cheese; the meats; the preparation for sandwiches is a combination of delicate and filling. The sweets are artfully prepared and come in nice small servings. The buffet at 95 swedish kroner is a steal because the food is beautiful, delicate, tasty, and all balanced to create a full palette. No, it is not 40 hodge-podge choices, but a much smaller selection that works in part or as a whole. There is one cooked meat dish--one day roasted lamb (which I passed on but even the son who was sweetly baa-baa'ing out the car window at all of Gotland's adorable fluffballs said it was scrumptious); another day just about the best pulled pork I've ever had, a little tang and sweetness, but mostly just rich and melting. (One of the service people said they cook it overnight), etc. There's a cooked potato dish, a hearty soup, a plain green salad, and then a variety of sides for the salad and side cold dishes (bulgur and beets, chickpea salad, etc.), plus an array of pickled vegetables, slabs of that delicious bread, butter, and cream cheese. There's also usually a special fruit or sweet concoction--one day small little glasses of wild-strawberry puree.... What more could a person want? Inside and outside are fun Berkeley-esque spaces. Old books inside, gardens and several tree houses and rustic adventures for the kids outside, a couple excellent shops, and lots of gardens where the beautiful organic greens and veggies are grown. The service is very friendly and efficient. We've been here in the off-season and the peak of crazy of medieval week, making so far about five visits, and never found it chaotic or less than superb. read more
