BEWARE LEXINGTON Academy Hello, This is a recent incident at a Lexington Academy in Laveen I was sent a video by a friend concerning her son, we will call him John. The video was sent by John's principal to defend staff action which resulted in injury to John. It is important to know John is afraid of the high school part of the campus. The kids are bigger there and he is afraid he will be beat up. in the video, the face of every student in the classroom is clearly seen. John is seen sitting at a table not doing his work. He is just sitting starring into space. His teacher walks behind him, lifts him roughly up out of his chair, turns him around and begins yelling at him, "WHEN I SAY DO YOUR WORK YOU WILL DO YOUR WORK!!! IF YOU DO NOT DO YOUR WORK YOU WILL GO TO THE HIGH SCHOOL!" At that moment the high school behavior specialist (Mr. Zach) walks in. John is beginning to panic and yelling "NO...NO...NO.." The techer says "Mr Zach, if John does not do his work you can take him to the high school side." At this point John is in a clear panic. He runs to the classroom phone and tries to call 911 (in this day of school shootings we teach kids to call 911 if they do not feel safe). Staff intervenes and does not allow the call. At this point John is off video. Staff reports it was then John tried to flee the classroom. Back in the video now, Mr. Zach grabs John by the arm, turns him forcefully around and tackles him to the ground where John hits his head. John is then forced in a chair and made to apologize for trying to call 911. 4 adults can be seen going to that side of the room, leaving the rest of the class on their own (2 kids briefly hit each other several times in the background). John ended up with scratches and 3 finger bruises to his arm. Lexington denies any wrong doing and reports staff acted as they were trained to. They defend taking a child with autism from a calm state, sending him into a panic and then injuring him. The incident report states (paraphrasing) " John is refusing to work, he is redirected by his teacher. John goes to the classroom phone to dial 911 and is stopped by staff. John attempts to elope and is grabbed by the shirt sleeve to prevent elopement". As an aside permission for the principal to give a copy of the video to John's mom was not told to any other parent in the classroom. read more

Prior to this school year I would have recommended this "school". They are not an accredited school and it was never really told what that ment. My son expressed an interest a couple years ago in becoming a teacher and he would not be able to do so because he will not have a diploma only a certificate of completion which in the adult world is not even as valid as a GED. We moved out for state and he is now trying to transfer to an accredited school and he has ZERO transcripts and the staff will not speak with them. My son who would be finishing high school next year is facing having to do 4 years of high school all over again because they will not disclose what work he has done so he can get credits. They were paid ESA funds and at this point there isn't really even a record that he went to school at all. read more

Lexington Maryville lied that my son was enrolled and part of school. They received my son's entire ESA funds and we bought school supplies for the class he was supposed to be a part of. Two weeks into school I find out he is only receiving ABA which is paid by insurance. ABA is not staffed to actually help so we were told my son could only be on campus for 3 hours a day for ABA only. We set up therapy at their request and once they were approved they would not allow him at school to receive therapies. Almost everything we were told at our tour was a complete lie. As of now the principal has refused to answer any questions or show any kind of professionalism to address this situation. We are now left setting up new services and having to wait for 2nd quarter to find an educational placement. Beware before enrolling your child. If you have an issue the school doesn't care and will not communicate with you. read more

Parents, PLEASE PLEASE beware of Lexington Life Academy (Maryvale Campus.) Two of my children were students at the school, and they both had horrible experiences. To start, my son was facing abuse at the school during the 2022-2023 school year. One day, he came home with a large mark across his chest area. When I reached out to his teacher, she claimed that he possibly fell off the swing. The mark on his torso was not a mark that could be acquired from an accident on the swing. The staff refused to address the incident and no action was ever taken. Another incident was with my daughter. My daughter is supposed to have a one-on-one assistant to watch her in the classroom. I found out that the school had been using her one-on-one to watch the entire class of students. This resulted in many incidents happening with my daughter that could've been prevented if they hadn't used her one-on-one to watch her classmates. Again, the staff never addressed this and refused to respond. Their transportation is HIGHLY inconsistent, they're always low on staff, and they still demand my kids ESA school fund. I would give this school zero stars if possible. My experience with this school was loathsome, please do not send your kids here. read more

Horrible school with a dirty administration that doesn't care for students with special needs. School is falling apart. Roofs are moldy. School and restrooms are always dirty and very smelly. Classrooms are roach infested. The school has no maintenance. They make the students clean the cafeteria and mop the floors and clean the restrooms. read more
