The place has tons of great tequilas but 300 hundred for a bottle of Fortaleza añejo is crazy!!! Their prices ain't what they used to be. Got this bottle of extra añejo cascahuin and over payed 50 bucks but at least it wasn't 150 like their mark up on Fortaleza read more

I was in a real hurry, but this place was on my bucket list for their legendary selection of tequilas and mezcals. They have over 500. I circled the block, no parking of course, and then saw a difficult to spot ramp to underground parking next door, with a sign stating that it was parking for Leyva's. It's paid parking, but free with validation. It seems a bit sketchy, as it's very dark and might just be the perfect spot for a horrific TJ murder, but all turned out well. I entered the store and was the only customer. I was greeted with a smile and an easy English greeting, which I appreciated, as I planned to ask lots of questions that would have been hard to do with my Spanish. I asked for a recommendation on a Mezcal, thinking I'd want an anejo. Rather, he directed me to a counter with three blanco bottles, and declared the order of his suggestion. Number one, two and three. He handed me a little plastic salsa type cup, and let me pour my own samples. All three were very good, and all between 40 and 48 bucks. I ended up choosing the first selection as it was the most smooth, and I figured my wife would like it to. Good choice. When I got home and looked it up, it had won the 2018 gold for a grand tequila and mezcal competition. It's a joven, rather than a blanco, and a pleasant bottle at that. I didn't find the savings worth a trip to TJ just for that, but I was there, and did get it $10 cheaper than another place was selling it for on the other side of the border. Next time I'm getting something dark and small batch that I won't find online anywhere. read more

The guys working here are very nice. They insist on giving you samples of different alcohols so that you can choose the one you will like the most. I was able to try 5-6 different ones and it could have been more. Decent prices, not dirt cheep but what ever. read more

We traveled to Mexico and were seeking a certain of Tequila. We traveled all over, and finally made it here. They not only have the one we wanted, they allowed us to taste virtually all the different tequilas in stock. The guy was so friendly and knowledgeable on all the tequilas. We went there on a Cultural Tour of Tijuana on 6/19/22. The owner offered us samples then highly recommended an off brand of tequila. We trusted him. Very nice guys at this place. I came in looking for a bottle of mezcal and they gave me a tasting of several that they had on selection. After trying about 4 I had found the one for me. He told me I could try more if I wanted but I was going to be heading north soon so I decided against it. Be sure to stop in if you want to bring a good bottle home. read more
