I felt compelled to put my story with Liberty Mutual, merely to warn others of their dishonesty, so this isn't for the year 2018. Our sewer backed up from our house down to where it connects into the city sewer, a complete block which blew what was in the sewer pipe back into our home. We knew we were covered for this in our insurance agreement with Liberty Mutual, so we filed a claim. They sent their man in the field to our home, he came in did some measurements cut a 4 inch by 4 inch swath of carpet from inside the hall closet. Then we waited. Some time elapsed, we didn't get a call, as expected, we received an impersonal form letter, stating that our claim had been denied. But they did go up on our monthly premiums regularly, until it reached over $300+. I called Liberty Mutual & talked to a customer service agent, we went over my policy, she explained that we had been and were covered for the backed up sewer line and couldn't explain why the claim was denied. She said she would check on it but I haven't ever held back on her findings. As you are in the market for home owners insurance, remember you are being forewarned. thank you for you time. I hope my testimony about my dealings with Liberty Mutual will help save others money by getting a real insurance company that will be good to their word, about what they say they are covering for you and your property. A friend has seen this review and explained that I had recourse by filing a claim with my state of Tennessee at https://www.tn.gov/commerce.html and this I will do. When I find that there is indeed a solution I will give an update, until then my friends, be safe and keep in mind the adage, 'buyer beware!' read more
