I set up a HO insurance policy with Cumberland, the auto rates she was trying to get me were not competitive at all and were very overpriced. She was super judge-y and pushy when I politely declined the auto insurance but regardless of that I just went with a homeowner's policy instead of bundling... I've had several issues over the years, first my HO policy went up every year despite the fact that I've never once put in a claim. When I tried to call Cumberland they literally would not speak to me: told me I had to go through Schumacher for any issues and they cannot talk to me. Annoying but whatever... I get in contact with a woman named Leslie because, according to Leslie Judy couldn't help me (? Weird) then Leslie gives me a whole rigmarole about why my rate increases. She claims that Suddenly Cumberland is telling me I'm under insured after having been with the company for two years: the company raised my amount for what my house is worth to almost $200,000 more and raised my rate which is shady as fuck. Finally after a million phone calls Leslie told me the company made a mistake and lowered my rate. Shady as fuck all around... Now I decided, since my Cumberland policy was increasing yet again without filing a claim, to look elsewhere. I called NJM insurance and got an amazing rate (almost $200 less than my rate) which was on par with my current HO policy. I called to talk to someone about canceling my policy with Cumberland and lo and behold Judy can now help me. So I tell her I want to cancel and she keeps me on the phone for twenty minutes trying to change my mind and tell me that NJM is not a good company and that I'm making a mistake, she offered to find more competitive rates and to bundle my auto insurance policy. I told her I was going to switch and made my mind up. She emailed a cancellation form, I emailed it back with my signature and she needs my new declaration page to see if it's "worth it for me" to switch to NJM. I just want to be fucking done with this company and their bullshit and I'm somehow still getting suckered into having another conversation with this woman who was completely unhelpful when I was having a host of issues a few years ago. Where were you then? Seriously I just can't wait to be done with this place and to have a new policy that won't raise my rates constantly and not be able to speak to the company who i have my policy with! Just so stupid and inconvenient. I will never go through a broker again, especially not this company. Yes it might be "convenient" to have someone do the work for you but when I cannot even speak directly to the company that is insuring me I have a real issue with that. Beware and look elsewhere.
