i have used lberty taxi service ( 1580 kenmore ave.) for a number of years now...but on tues, july 28, 2020 i thought it would be a good idea to call them for a ride to my veterinary doctor's appointment for my very ill dog. i called them 3 separate times this day to be sure i was getting there at my appointment time and i was bringing my little dog ( chihuahua/ pom mix ) who will be in her bed and on my lap. i called at around 1:30am, again around 11:am, and then again at 1:pm ( or so ). each time i called, i let them know that my dog will be on my lap and i need a driver who can be prompt, and who takes dogs with their owners. please remember this, i called three times because a lot of the drivers will not take dogs or any animal in their taxi's. my little dog had cancer...and when i saw her go down-hill quickly ( she was on meds etc. ) i knew it was time for her last veterinary visit. i have to say...when you love your pet and know what needs to be done, it's a very trying time for the owner also. we were ready to go as i heard the driver hit the horn and saved that we would be out in two moments. as we got to the front steps, he said loudly " oh no, i don't take dogs!! ( it was the only taxi to take as i was told 3x by liberty the driver is dog friendly ) i told him this...he was not happy. as a matter of fact, he put us in the back, and that does not mean the backseat. he opened the back of the truck that had no seats and he unfurled the ramp that we have to walk up and sit on the floor that was very slippery and had no carpet or seat belts. mind you, that he was very rude and it was steaming hot in the back of that van!!! we got to the corner of my block and i couldn't breathe. i asked him to flip on the air or open a window or two so we could finally breathe. nope, he didn't do anything but drive very erratically and made very fast stops and goes so we were all over the back of that van with a steel or metal floor!!! mind you, also i was still trying to hold on to my 10 lb dog as we were being hit from the back door all the way to the back seat area and tossed around like we were in a washing machine!!! i was yelling and did not get any reaction from him or i suppose it was his girlfriend in the passenger seat. we finally got there, he got out of the driver side and went to the back of the truck open the door, and folded down the ramp..... then fed to me i hope you're paying cash. i have to tell you, i blew a gasket and lit into him like there was no tomorrow!!! pulled out my credit card and put it into the machine and was not about to tip him, but the machine would not let me go any further until i tipped him. that was never going to happen.... so if the machine doesn't want to take my card and i'm not leaving a tip well sorry about that! the avicii so-called girlfriend finally got the machine to work and as i was walking toward the veterinary clinic i told him exactly what i thought about him. he gave me a dumbfounded look like he didn't know what i was talking about!! (just so you know... he's driving a lime green dodge caravan, and from what i understand, his name is tyrone and he wears a white beach hat!!! *** i did call liberty that evening and spoke with a very kind man and he listened to everything i had to say to him. in fact, my conversation was being taped (which was a good thing!) the next day i got a call from i believe it was the manager of liberty on kenmore avenue and he did here my message taped and was very concerned. we spoke for a good while and he assured me that this driver is new or fairly new and didn't read the notes did they present on the driver's notes when they're going to pick up someone. a manager liberty was very kind again, and assured me that this driver would be talked to and if you didn't straighten up he wouldn't be working there anymore. i hope that this is true and i hope i never run into tyrone, or his lime green dodge caravan with no seats in the back other than the second row which apparently i wasn't good enough to sit in. that's it folks, i hope everyone who is taking this taxi service will report when there are problems with any of the drivers. thank you to the manager of liberty taxi, 1580 kenmore ave, kenmore, n.y. at least (i hope) i got some satisfaction. v. smith ***no star rating*** ( won't let me post till i do...-20 ) apparently the lowest is one star, so i'm putting that in, but that is not my choice.. read more

They are quick to arrive, but the drivers do not have any customer service skills. If you ask them questions they ignore, if not are rude. We have used them 3 times since being on Canalside (our hotel continues to call them for us) and each time is worse. Last night we went .8 miles to the Seneca Casino and the guy charged us $10. I thought he was kidding, but he wasn't and didn't seem to care that he was being a complete ass. The vehicles are not nice and usually smell like smoke. I think it is the worst cab company I have ever used and will let everyone in the area not to use them. I also let the hotel know to start calling another company for their guests. read more

We had a 4:30 AM train to catch, so I used the Curb app at 10:00 the night before to book a cab in advance. It assigned me to Liberty. We scheduled for a 4 AM pick-up in the Elmwood village to get us to the Exchange St. Amtrak station in plenty of time. We got a confirmation message that our cab was booked and warning us that we'd be charged a fee if we cancel. At 4:05 AM, we were outside of our house waiting with luggage, no cab in sight. I called Liberty and was put on hold for 10 minutes. It is now 4:15 and our train is leaving downtown at 4:30. We can hear the train whistling in the distance. I finally get a dispatcher who says something about how none of the drivers claimed our fare. I said that I had a confirmation message. She sends a driver. It is now 4:20. He gets us downtown but tries to take us to the Buffalo Pierce-Arrow Transportation Museum, which he thought was the train station. By now my husband has give him directions how to double back to Amtrak. When he finally pulls up, the train is leaving the station. So he turns off the meter and offers to take us to the Depew station. Thankfully, he got there two minutes ahead of the train. We boarded and made it to New York for Thanksgiving. Last year around this time when we were catching the 4:30 train and had booked a Liberty cab by phone, our driver was also late and needed directions. At this time of day, the bus & subway are not running. Next time we need to catch this train, we will walk the damn 3 miles so that we know we will get there on time. read more

This company is horrible. Unfortunately they monopolize the Buffalo metro area and are the only option. Called for a cab on a Saturday at 655pm. Its 755pm and I'm still waiting despite being told it would be 10 minutes. I called the 5 available lines and nobody has picked up. Absolutely ridiculous. I wish I could say I'd never use again bit they're the only option. We have used liberty cab several times. When we call, the automated system remembers our home address as well as the address of our most recent pickup. Interestingly, we discovered this weekend that they will not pick up on cross-streets. You have to give them a physical address. read more

I would give less than a 1 star if possible. We called Liberty at 9pm last night for a 9:30pm cab and they said it would be no problem. 9:40pm rolls around and no cab. We called to check where the cab was and they told us it had already arrived when it definitely did not. We called again and were told the cab was 4 minutes away now. 4 minutes go by and STILL NO CAB! We called yet again and were now told that the cab would be 15 minutes and we got upset and then they HUNG UP ON US. We called ahead to be courteous and then never got a cab. Absolutely ridiculous. I called this taxi service 2 hours before I needed a cab. I asked them to show up at my job at 1PM so I could go pick my car up from the mechanic. When I got out of work at 1, the taxi driver had left me a voice mail saying he was there. I looked for the cab, but could not find it so I called the company. They said the taxi was there at 12:30. I explained to them that I asked for the taxi at 1, when I got out of work. They apologized and said they would send another right over to me. I waited outside in 8 degree weather for 30 minutes before I called them again, only to find that they weren't sending me another taxi because they were too busy. Moral of the story, I will never call this place again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

Used their service before. Typical. Either too late or too early. While riding my bike down lafayette I was run off the road by one of their van cabs. Maroon cab, #2 (?). Plenty of room on the road but the driver just felt the need to finally get to their destination on time I suppose. Obviously wasn't feeling too tough as they sped away when I was catching up to them at every stop sign. If I see them again they'll be paying for a new window. On two separate occasions I have called for a pick-up, the dispatcher told me the cab would arrive in ten-fifteen minutes, and the cab never came. I called back to check on the status of the taxi, and instead of being told the driver was running late or a similar excuse, the dispatcher said there was no record of my original call for the taxi and it would take between twenty and forty-five minutes to put in a new order for a pick-up. When I said that was unacceptable since I had already been waiting approximately half an hour and now could not possibly make it to my appointment on time, and I wanted to speak to a supervisor or manager, the dispatcher hung up on me. The first time this happened I was willing to regard it as a fluke; the second time cannot be explained away. The customer service is horrendous, there is no accountability, and apparently management and supervision is non-existent. read more

Was traveling from Allentown to Chippewa, found a cab outside the bar when he pulled up he asked where we were going and said it would be $15 cash only. WORST CAB SERVICE EVER. I WOULD GIVE NO STAR IF POSSIBLE. WE NEEDED A RIDE FROM Niagara Falls, NY to Canadian side. There was 5 adults & 5 bags. I called 1/2 hr before ready to pickup & they sent a Honda Civic driver. He calls & I call main # & they have a diver & he was headed our way. He calls to confirm & says I can't accommodate that many. We spent another 1-1 1/2 hrs finding a ride. So I give them a second chance & schedule ride the day before to return to US Side. I talked to driver that morning & he says he is coming, 5 minutes later I get a text that I cancelled ride. I DID NOT. Thankfully, the hotel concierge got us a cab that took us all back to US side. i'm going to give liberty a star for being the reason everyone is so happy with uber & lyft. i don't miss using liberty cabs, but instead of going on-&-on about all of the problems with liberty, i would rather talk about the positives of the ride-sharing companies. with uber & lyft, i've yet to be in cab that looks like it came from germany the year the wall came down. it takes less than 3 minutes for a car to come; & they actually come! their phone apps are well designed; my dad even uses them. i've yet to be yelled at or driven to a gas station because the driver refused to take credit cards. their customer service, if something does inevitably go wrong, actually seems capable of resolving issues. thank you liberty for making uber & lyft a necessity. read more

This company is terrible!! It is one they use for medical non emergency rides. The drivers are all rude and ignorant and only care about collecting their paychecks and tips. The customer service line isn't even in state it is manned by a bunch of middle easterners that barely speak English and who can barely be understood! I am currently still waiting for my ride home from the dr.s office which I had a return ride scheduled at 2:30 it is now an hour later and they are still searching for a driver... the lady I called said that they tried to call me which they did not I do not have a missed call from them on my call log and I have been pacing back and forth in the middle of the parking lot since quarter after 2. They give an automated hour before your ride so you can confirm it which I did when they did call at 1:30 I hit #2 to confirm that I would be ready at 2:30. I informed the receptionist that I have been waiting and she did nothing but tell me I have to continue waiting not any inkling of a time in which a ride may arrive. They don't wear masks which I believe is not legal but even if it was during the pandemic time they are driving people who have predetermined illnesses to drs appointments and if they happen to get someone who has a weak immune system or someone with breathing problems this could kill them!!! This company needs to be shut down or at least taken off as an option or non emergency medical transport because they are an unprofessional shady business who forces you to listen to horrible rap, r&b and other bassy beats. Get in a car with them it's going to be like driving around the east side of Buffalo where 9 out of 10 times you gear for your life. I'd give zero stars if possible. Had to resolve a claim through my bank because Liberty refused to answer phone calls with regard to their HUGE over charge on our account!!! They charged us TEN times the amount and then ignored our calls. Finally we decided to call from a new number and once they realized we were calling about a claim, they hung up on as again. First off I would like to say that all taxis in Western New York take credit card. If they say that they don't it's because the driver is looking to not log the trip and pocket the money. I was out with a couple of friends after playing a double header football game. We went to the bar and we also went out to dinner. I had my bike with me and I was planning on riding home but the night was getting later and later. I decided to waive down a cab. A Liberty cab driver pulled up and asked if I needed a cab I said yes but I have my bike, he said it was no problem but you just have to pay cash. I said that I didn't have any cash on me but if he would take me to an ATM once I got home that I could get cash to him. Once I got home I asked the taxi driver to stop at 7-Eleven so that I could take out cash to pay him. He joked and said okay but hurry up I'm in a hurry and if you don't hurry I'll keep this bike. I went in the 7-11 to take out cash, came back and the taxi was gone. Not only did he take my bike he took my hat, my coat, and my prescription glasses. I did not know the taxi number but I did call the next day 3x to see if my stuff was there. After three calls I never received a call back and I called the next day three more times. After not receiving any calls back I decided to file a police report. I went to Liberty cab and the police officer went to liberty and spoke to a manager who stated that he could not find the driver without having the taxi cab number. I asked if he could just nail down to the description of the person and the people working that night and he said he has over 400 cabs going in one night. (Really? In Buffalo NY son? Honestly he really didn't even care. I travel more than the average person and take more cabs than the average person and nine times out of ten I've taken Airport taxi. I have never had a problem with them. Going forward I will only take airport taxi, Uber or Lyft when they come and I will never ever, ever take Liberty taxi again. It's been a week now and you would think that the taxi driver would have stopped at my house or something but nothing. I know this is a rant but I am pissed and for your company to not even care just shows the how crappy of an establishment that place is. I typically use Airport Taxi when I need service to the airport however one time i used Liberty simply because Airport Taxi did not answer my call the night before my flight. I scheduled a pickup from home at 5:45 am. At 5:50...no cab. Called and was told they are on their way. 6:00 am still no cab. Called again and was told they are almost there. The dispatcher was rude and basically giving me the run around to stall. At 6:20 we finally drove ourselves and saw the cab designated for us on the way to our house around 6:22am. I was so mad and stressed that we would miss our flight. I had to pay for parking and take the shuttle from the parking lot to the airport which wasted even more time. I emailed the company after my trip and no one ever responded. I will NEVER use Liberty cab again. read more

Liberty cab is the worst! I called them an hour before I needed to be picked up, spelled out my address multiple times and they sent the cab to the wrong location. I called again, spelled out my address again and they sent another cab to the incorrect location. The third time that I called the telephone operator seemed annoyed that I was calling again but she apparently gave the final guy my actual location. I just had a terrible experience with liberty yellow cab. I flagged down a cab outside of hardware on Allen. We were going four blocks to our destination. It was pouring rain (hence the cab for such a short distance). The fate was $7.30. I handed the driver a $20 and asked for a $10 back. He replied "I only have $4." Well, I was not going to give him a 200% tip for a four block ride so he then said he would take me to a place to get change. We went to the Wendy's on Main by the anchor bar and their lobby was closed. He then took me to the Walgreen's on North/Delaware. I got change and he took my back to my original destination...but he kept the meter running the whole time. My fare was now $12+!! I called the company and spoke with a manager/supervisor and she was nice and sympathetic but told me that since I had flagged the cab down there was no record of my pick-up and so there wasn't much to be done. She did say that she would leave a note for his boss. Anyway, avoid liberty yellow cab if you don't want to get ripped off. read more

I would never use nor recommend this taxi service to anyone!!!!! First off.....our group made reservations for 3 taxi's and only 2 showed up. Second......we were to have taxi's pick up our group from the Hotel and take us to the restaurant and not one taxi showed up to take us there so we, kids and adults, walked in temperatures below ZERO!!!! After speaking with someone at Liberty they promised that we would have taxi's at the restaurant to take us back to our hotel and guess what.....they never showed up. We had made these reservations with Liberty well in advance and confirmed with them they still failed to provide service. We then called another taxi service which were very good. Not only did they call us to confirm the time to be picked up they phoned us to tell us that they were going to be a few minutes late due to an accident on the thruway. read more
