I have been visiting Red Wing lately and stopped in twice now to Liberty Restaurant. Both times the staff were very friendly and the food was very good. The atmosphere is very cozy as well. I have to add that my waitress today surprised me! In passing conversation it came up that I was taking myself out for my birthday. When I went to pay for the meal, my waitress told me that someone paid for my dinner. I was shocked and didn't know what to say! I asked her who paid for it, but she tried to play it off as she didn't know. I was very pleasantly surprised by how lovely, considerate and thoughtful it was for her to do that! I know it had to have been her because no one else knew why I was there. She truly doesn't know how much that meant to me and how that act of kindness was appreciated, especially during the current season of my life. I wish I could remember her name, but unfortunately I didn't memorize it quick enough. She didn't give me a receipt that I could look at for it. But I will never forget her or what she did and hope that I am blessed enough to chat with her again! I definitely recommend going to Liberty Restaurant when in Red Wing! You won't be disappointed! Someone told me to try the fish there, so maybe I'll have to return when they have their Friday fish special! Stopped in mid-afternoon for an early dinner since a lot of dining options in downtown Red Wing seem to be closed on Sundays so was happy to find this spot open. A couple of observations: cleanliness could be improved. The booth we were seated at had many crumbs and other food particles on the seat. Flies are a bit of a pest buzzing around. I know it's not the restaurant's fault esp during the summer but consistently keeping bugs away from my meal is not an ideal indoor dining experience. For those paying via credit card, there is a 3.5% surcharge. The salmon salad was overly fishy and off-putting. Salmon shouldn't taste that way. The deep dish pizza was a nice shareable entree, full of toppings and very tasty. read more

We stopped in for a bite and were immediately overwhelmed (in a good way) by how large the menu was--so we decided to start with two appetizers: the onion rings and jalapeño poppers. The onion rings looked great but definitely needed more seasoning and salt to bring out the flavor. The jalapeño poppers, on the other hand, were excellent--stuffed with a generous amount of cream cheese and served hot, which isn't always the case at other places, so that was a pleasant surprise. We'd heard the restaurant was known for their pizza, so we gave the house pizza a try. It was enjoyable overall, but it didn't come out well-done like we'd requested. I'm admittedly a bit of a pizza snob, with lots of solid pizza options back home, so while it wasn't bad, it just didn't wow me. The sauce leaned on the sweeter side, which isn't quite my preference, but the thin crust had a nice crunch to it. All in all, a decent experience with some highs and a few misses. If you like sweet sauce and crunchy thin crust, it might be right up your alley. read more

My best friend and I were enjoying a "bestie day" in Red Wing and asked a local for a good spot to grab a late lunch/early dinner. They recommended Liberty's Restaurant & Lounge, so that's where we landed. It's a mix between a restaurant and a bar. Kind of gave off banquet hall vibes, at least on the restaurant side. We sat up front in a booth in the restaurant side. The atmosphere was casual and our waitress was friendly and attentive at first. Once the dinner crowd started rolling in, it was clearly getting busy, and she seemed to be the only one on the floor so service slowed a bit, understandably. Now let's talk food. The menu is HUGE like, overwhelming HUGE (we laughed at how physically large the menus were) so we kept it simple: * Two waters * Jalapeño poppers (served with salsa) * Onion rings (served with ranch) * 10" House Special pizza (no olives, cooked well-done) Favorites? Definitely the jalapeño poppers, they were crispy, non-greasy, and flavorful. I did not try them with the salsa.... Seems like an odd pairing for me. I like chips and salsa! The onion rings were fine, but the breading lacked flavor. As for the pizza, it was just okay for me. A little too much sweet sauce, and I'm not a fan of overly sweet tomato flavor on pizza. That said, it was cheesy, and I appreciated that! All in all, Liberty's wasn't a bad stop. If I'm back in the area, I'd consider popping in again for the poppers and maybe explore their dessert menu next time. read more

The decor could use an iodate and the food is just fine. I got the four meat pizza, it had good flavor but very much looked like something a kid would get with a kid's meal and it was a little over priced. I ate my food and it was fine but I don't think I would come back to this spot. read more

They have a decent lunch buffet during the week, which is reasonably priced...the only thing I wished was different about the buffet is that they could do different or changing pizzas rather than the same 3 every time. read more

Wanted something simple, some type of sandwich type meal. And the buffalo chicken wrap did the job. First time in Red Wing. Had an ok breakfast at a local joint. This was a little better. I guess this place is know for it's pizza. I walked over from the St. James hotel and place a to-g order. The young lady working the counter was nice. She put my order in, I sat and waited for about 10 minutes, and back to the hotel I went. The wrap was not too small and not too bg. Just about right. It was in some kind of flavored wrap. Maybe a tomato wrap? A buffalo wrap? Not sure. Chicken was cooked perfectly and the amount of bleu cheese dressing was good. The chips were kettle style, which I love. And the pickle was just ok. We were seated at 11:10a.m. , 9/28/25, sat at the table right around 15 minutes before the server took our drink order then didn't see her again until we asked if we were going to get our food anytime soon as we watch tables that were seated after us receive theirs. That was after 45 minutes. At the hour time mark we asked a separate server if we could just get our check. Which she got for us but had to run back to the back with my card to figure why we weren't served I guess ‍. Came back minutes later and charged us for our two drinks without so much as a I'm sorry or kiss our A$$es or nothing, she just said we were all set. Walked out at 12:14. That was our total experience with this place, sort of bewildered as to why they treated us like shit and didn't get us our meals. Not quite sure how you've been in business that long with shitty service like that. If I could give 0 stars I would. I guess for a positive note the food did look good . I must admit we tried 3 other places to eat before we got a table here but it ended up being a great spot! Very friendly service and a nice atmosphere for brunch and then later in the evening for a rock n roll show in the bar area for Big Turn Music Fest! There is not much here for a vegan I must admit, but the portobello sandwich was good and came with fantastic chips! Saturday 13/9 Great ambience, food OK but the waitress not so much, we asked for a substitute french fries for a potato. She said they couldn't do it and that the basket must come with the fries after asking to speak to a manager which by the way never happened. She stated that they could substitute the potato for fries but never bother taking it off the bill $3.50, she was consumed with the reputation of the restaurant 35 years experience. she was making all kinds of errors with the nearby customers and apologizing. she forfeited her 25% tip which was way more than the potato This person needs more training and realizing that bragging about the place she works in is not a solution for wrongdoings. Twice I have had the same waitress. Sunday morning and last night. She's young I get it. Fighting over who's NOT going to take a table. Sections all over the restaurant leaves customers unattended. Divide sections by room not whole place! Hostess no where to be seen for 10 minutes while waiting to pay. No apologies for the wait nothing. Smaller sections per waitress makes them easier to contact when you need something. Cold food because the waitress "has a lot going on" and couldn't get it to us! My family and I came here while on vacation for a cousins wedding in Minnesota because we had been here years back and we wanted to try it again. We all got the liberty burgers and they were very underwhelming. The buns were almost ice cold, and the burgers were dry and tasted like they were from the freezer aisle at a grocery store. The service was very good though and our waitress was very nice. Overall the food was ok at best but the service is good. I wouldn't recommend coming here as I would say there are better restaurants in the area so it would be a waste of time. read more

Was excited that they said that even though we had no reservation, they could get us in in about a 20min. (it was more like 15). So glad we decided to give it a try!
