I only went there for the VINYLS! They have a box in the…read morefront of the store 0,50 euro any vinyl. The box is updated every few hours. Inside there are about 24 drawers with vinyls but NO order, NO specific category, but they add the new arrivals every few hours. The vinyls have small white labels with the date of entering the store and the price. Inside the store only the PROMO drawer has vinyls at 0,50 euro. The prices of vinyls from the other drawers are from 1 euro to 10 euro (most are over 3 euro), but there are only used vinyls, most of them with classical music (walses, opera, concerts) or french music. I spent few hours today browsing EVERY vinyl and I can say there are few american vinyls, most french or french edition or french music. I was lucky to find Sam Brown "Stop" single and Sandra "Maria Magdalena" single. There is also another section with 45 RPM singles at 1 euro piece. I could see a clerk labeling the fresh-received vinyls with a label gun. He brought the vinyls every hour and put them in the "NEW ARRIVALS" box. The CDs are sealed with some transparent tape and there was a tentative of alphabetical order (you could see some names, letters) but the chaos was the best word to descriebe that area. The plastic bags for the vinyls/books/etc are free :D

They have a large music department that includes every genre from around the world. They have both CDs and vinyl. FNAC also has a large assortment of books in many categories. I'd avoid buying any brand name MAC stuff here (tres cher) but found a good workaround and got great advice from staff who were very welcoming and seem to take pride in what they do. The shop opened in the 50s by an American called George Whitman and he initially named it Le Mistral. I believe the name changed in the 60s to what we know it as today. As a fan of literature, Shakespeare and Company is like Mecca. The Holy Grail, if you will. Founded by Sylvia Beach in 1919, it was a hangout for many American and British writers when they lived in Paris. Like any great bookstore, this retail establishment has an impressive inventory of books in English, in all major categories: Children's literature, classics, culinary, culture, economics, history, politics, travel, etc, etc. We checked 4 different days, and finally got in on our fifth try. The shop is a labyrinth of interconnected rooms, and actually takes up nearly a whole block. The check-out clerks will stamp your books with the Shakespeare & Co logo and name; so it's fun to gift a classic, like Winnie the Pooh, to your grandkids.
