While I missed a Micky D's trip while I was in Spain, I was able to keep up my Starbucks record...but I was able to check off another tradition - visit a local brewery in every country I visit. Well, I was actually able to visit two while in Spain. YOLO. Came in the Fabrica Maravillas after spotting it on Yelp - since it was a quick (relatively) walk from our hotel. I was on a mission to connect with my good bud - Mr. Yelp Madrid, Lolo R - and this was where we decided to meet up to have a beer and catch up. Super friendly bartender that explained each beer for us and recommended the one I went with - The Dark Ale. It was fantastic. Sweet notes, perfectly carbonated and not too heavy. Their glasses are in 3 sizes - small, medium, large. The Medium is a good size as it is. 2 mediums and a small was only 10€. I also got a bottle that was €4 (50cl). It was hoppy and went PERFECT with a fried seafood plate I had it with when I got back home. Small tap room - as are all places in Spain, but they are brewing up some good stuff! Check them out! Side note - Shout out to the guy in there that was also from Fort Lauderdale and overheard me talking and immediately hollered out "FUNKY BUDDHA!" haha super nice guy, hope you find this review dude. Always nice to know my home team brewery is that well known.

So glad we did our research and ventured out to this neighborhood to experience this gem a somewhat reasonable walk from the Suanzes metro stop on the 5. The beer was quite good - nothing extraordinary, but all solid to excellent. The oatmeal IPA was a standout - the oat added a nice, smooth finish to the hoppy beer. The coffee stout was nice and strong (10.3%). A bit one-note, but when that note is great coffee, I'm not going to complain. Food was equally enjoyable, if not more so. Nachos were baked - warm and crispy and hearty, with great mix of chicken, guac, tomatoes and red onion - nothing like the blob of crap you often get back in the states. The Pollo negro à la stout was incredibly flavorful, with a dark beer sauce to pour over it. Our server, Alec, was incredibly friendly. My wife enjoyed exercising her Spanish and talking beer with him, and he helped us pick some bottles to go. He seemed legit pleased when we told him the place reminded us of the kind of cool, indie spot we love back home in Brooklyn (high praise indeed from Brooklyners)!

The brisket was more of a pot roast and the chicken sandwich was an average round patty one might find at a grocery store. The menu is very limited but they have a menu del dia for €14, which is a great price. The beer is quite good and they have about 10 different styles and types. Overall, great place to sit and enjoy some time with friends.

Technically this is a store you can buy bottles and cans from and they have SOOO many options packed into the little space, but they also had 5 beers on tap and some tables so you could sit and have a drink of what's on tap or try some of what's bottled. The guy behind the counter (who's name I sadly forgot now) was really awesome in describing the beers on tap. I went with two very different hazy IPAs. It was just myself and my cousin in the store and he came over after a bit to ask how we liked it and we had some great brew convo which I appreciated.

Homesick American looking for a quality stout? They got Speedway and Sump among others. Looking for a taste of Europe? You'll find plenty of Cantillon and 3 Fonteinen, and even Westvleteren 12! Wanting a tour of Spain? They have local brews aplenty. They have a few taps with good stuff, and many available bottles/cans for on-site consumption or take-out. The owner is very nice, honest and knowledgeable. Prices are also very reasonable. To a non-beer snob much of it may look crazy expensive, but it's incredibly reasonable for the beers they're assigned to. But don't worry, they have plenty of cheaper deliciousness for those not looking to break the bank. Highly recommend!
