Over the past few months it changed name to 'Manly Coffee Guild' and we decided to give it a go. The cafe primarily focuses on coffee and other beverages, however pre-prepared sandwiches/croissants and cakes are also sold there. The service is generally quite efficient and there is a good atmosphere inside with a friendly atmosphere. I particularly like the music they play in-store. Recently it's been a lot of Beatles and Billy Joel and older style tunes. There's some comfy couches and magazines and papers if you want to spend a while there. Coffee is really good and I would recommend for those who don't like their coffee overly milky. It is strong without having a bitter/burnt flavour, and not too watery or creamy. It's probably my favourite place in Manly for a skinny latte. There are also outside seats available, which I would prefer during the warmer months as it's quite hot inside the cafe.

The two dishes we had were really fantastic and the coffee was as described in other reviews. Here's the best part. I got up to chase my daughter as she was running away from the table. While I was away a bird attack the plate of food they had just brought out. I went inside and just ordered/paid for another replacement dish but didn't mention the bird fiasco. When the server brought the new dish, he asked why I had the other plate of food sitting there. Explained the situation - two minutes later he came back with cash and refunded my meal! This doesn't happen in Sydney! It was an awesome and unexpected surprise. Point is - clearly these guys care about their customers. Highly recommend you make your way over and enjoy a great breakfast experience. AND WATCH OUT FOR THE BIRDS.

There is an onsite coffee roaster and grinder with the owner importing his own beans from Sulawesi and Java in Indonesia which make for very nice coffee. They were playing a relaxed music selection ideal for the brunch setting. The staff are very friendly, we chose to sit in the courtyard out the back. There is a nice smoke aroma as we enter the courtyard and we notice that they have a BBQ smoker in action, with the kitchen staff continually checking on it. They smoke all of their meat in house. Thus had us excited for what was to come. As there was Salmon being freshly smoked, it was a given that we order tge Salmon Tartine. The salmon was delectible with a subtle smoke flavour. We were informed that the smoking process was in New York style inspired by Katz deli. We were here for brunch so perectly acceptable to order the fried chicken and waffles. The chef is of Japanese heritige and once worked as a pastry chef at Sepia. Drawing on this to produce a beatiful light waffle and a crispy house smoked chicken karage. We also tried the chicken teriyaki and brown rice bowl with pickled daikon. Well prepared with nice flavour. If you are in the area or if not, make time to visit this exciting cafè producing delicious food and great coffee.
