Lidl is the new KMART! This is a fun store to shop in and worth the trip! I wish it opened at 7:00am.

I've always liked lidl in egg harbor township, nj where I live. I was recently in hazlet NJ picking up a very sick friend from hospital. She only needed bread so I ran in, grabbed a loaf and headed to check out. Only one register was open and the line was 8 people deep. I ran to self checkout and found the won't take cash (which is unit American and horrible in my opinion). Anthony opened a register and allowed me to check out when I explained my dilemma. This was my first visit to this Lidl. It was a Sunday at 2:30pm. As with the other stores, it's more of a flea market than a supermarket. They did have the pumpkin soda which I came in for and I flew through the self check out. read more

I recently purchased Sheppards pie and it's the worst I've ever had. Recommend you don't waste your money.

Got there at opening time to avoid crowds. The sidewalks & entryway were ice covered. There was actually a mound of snow in a handicapped parking spot. Hope they have good liability insurance. There was a light sprinkling of salt when I left. In addition the shelves & produce area were not stocked. Many of the sale items, as well as staples were missing. People working here are always super nice. Sometimes it does seem like they need more people working on the floor. They have someone passing out disinfectant wipes when you walk in (sometimes). Have never seen a line to go in. Always parking. Sometimes a line to check out unless you do self check out. Sometimes out of stock on certain meats and poultry but always have milk and eggs. Definitely recommend this lidl. read more

Yo. Life changing. Lemme start off with the machine that slices your bread for you that is on sale for $1. I have more sourdough bread than a baker. I almost feel dumb buying groceries at a place that has a Jersey City address, so I have reusable bags on me at all times. Was coming home from Red Bank and was like, "Hold up...is that a space ship?" It wasn't, but the prices were definitely out of this world. DO YOU SEE WHAT I DID THERE? This is my first time in a Lidl supermarket and I came here with an open mind with no expectations at all. They offer almost everything other supermarkets in the area carry organic, and non organic items from fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy selections, frozen foods plus more. This place is bright and clean plus very organized. They do not have a fresh deli section if you wanted fresh cold cuts. When you come here don't expect everything to be the usual brand names that you are used to seeing in other supermarkets. Their prices are really reasonable and affordable here. We bought fresh fruits and vegetables. I love that they had frozen escargot $3.99 a dozen ready to be baked its a great snack for all you snail lovers. We know how much that cost in your fancy french restaurants. We also loaded up on the stroopwafels $1.99 a package. Their spreadable butter and olive oil was $1.99 for a 15 oz container, $ .29 for package of taco seasoning and I can go on. Because of their price point, I didn't mind just picking groceries that were not my usual name brand items just to try them out. They offer self check out and cashier check out. We left with a full shopping cart. You should bring your own bags to pack your groceries because they do not offer free shopping bags. This is something that I am trying to do more often whenever I go shopping because eventually free plastic shopping bags won't be an option. It was pretty busy here and I can see this place being a mad house on the weekends as with all supermarkets. I have to say this is one of my new favorite supermarkets. read more

I usually go to the Lidl in North Brunswick, as it's closer to me, but had to be in this area, so decided to check this location out! I still really like Lidl, as they have such great prices, and you save a lot of money! This store is a little disorganized, but that was okay! I could fill my shopping carts here with everything this store has, because everything here looks so good! Food is always fresh, and if you're a big fan of seafood, you're in luck! Best seafood at good price! I also like that they have little shopping carts for the kids! My local Lidl has a bigger selection than this one, but overall I did like this location! read more

Lidl is the latest European style market jumping into the local market. And boy are they jumping in with both feet, with at least 4 new New Jersey stores opening or already open. Lidl compares with Aldi, having many store brand items and a limited stock of name brands. The only real difference between Lidl and Aldi is the on site bakery and architectural style. I enjoyed visiting the Hazlet Lidl and look forward to the North Brunswick/Milltown opening soon. read more

Since we moved to Holmdel lidl is one of our go to places to find our essentials. The prices are great, everything we have tried that is their store brand is delicious whether it's sauces, rice mix, soups, even chips.. I'd love to give them five stars but sometimes the item that I went in looking for seems like it's long gone and also maybe they have trouble keeping staff or try to save by not having many around but the last few times I've barely seen any staff around at all.. I tend to use the self checkout so that is ok with me really but some other shoppers get super frustrated and start making scenes.. I do appreciate how their parking lot is well spaced out and I've never found it packed like other stores.. will continue to be a loyal shopper! read more

Advertising low prices is great but not when you can't keep up with demand. Friday we traveled to Lidl for chicken breast advertised at $1.39/lb. We get there and guess what, no chicken. Fresh loaves of bread were also almost all sold out except for walnut bread. Asked an employee about the chicken and they said they get another delivery on Saturday. Went back to store on Sunday and got lucky, they had chicken in stock. This time though fresh pepperoni pizzas advertised at $3.99 for the weekend are sold out. Lidl advertises great prices but can't deliver the products they are advertising. They might be worth shopping if you live 5 minutes from the store and it's not a big loss to find advertised priced items sold out. Otherwise, just look at the circular and drool at the prices because that 10-15 minute drive isn't worth your time or gas for something that won't be there once you get to the store. So disappointed Lidl! read more

Brand spanking new store. Open less than a week. Stopped in late before they closed just to check it out but wound up getting a few things anyway. Prices seem lower although I'm not a huge supermarket shopper. The store was obviously very clean and had a very pleasant smell to it. Maybe because you start through the bakery area first? Employees were busy closing for the evening and restocking for the next day but were pleasant. Spoke with cashier who said weekend was quite busy but weekdays not bad. Excellent! This has become my go-to grocer. Between LIDL and Costco I'm covered for 80% of my grocery needs with ShopRite filling in the blanks. The product selection is sufficient with a mix of no name and branded products. I've found the quality to be first rate. It's interesting that all their beef products are grass fed (not that it matters to me). And their weekly specials are worth nothing with the weekend items also pretty good. Some negatives: They save money by staffing very, very lean so it's frustrating to get help at times. They don't restock on weekends so if you have your heart set on a sale item, get there Friday or early Saturday. Their app is pretty good but the support in the store is wildly erratic. Sometimes it will register your membership code at the self-check out and other times no. Ditto for Apple Pay support might work at self checkout but not at the manned aisles and other times its vice versa. This has been going on for months. One of the managed complained that it's the vendor's fault--OK, but you're their damn customer!! Have them get it fixed!! It's the same devices you find at almost every other supermarket! read more

The layout is a little strange but the prices are good on all the basics. It is definitely a no-frills supermarket but I find the produce to be fresh and the bakery smells delicious. The staff is friendly and once you figure out the layout it is not difficult to navigate. I will be shopping here on a regular basis to save money read more

I absolutely love Lidl. The one thing that annoys me about them is the self checkout needing to put EVERY item on the scale or whatever you call it. I buy their brand of spring water and holy ughh pick it up into cart pick it up onto scale pick it up back into cart...so freaking annoying 3 times before leaving the store. They really need to change that. read more

This place is a bit of a scam. They will advertise a good sale on an item with a caveat "while supplies last". Of course that sale item is always extremely limited and will undoubtedly sell out 5 minutes after the store opens on the first day of the sale. I asked the employees about this swindle and all have confessed to me that it's a major complaint many shoppers have. One employee gave the corporate customer service number and suggested that I call. I called left a message and never heard back from them. read more

Would you not love a place that smells like delicious fresh baked goods? Answer: hellz yeah! Very easy to compare this to A. but I think Lidly is far better than them. Why do I feel this way you ask? Went here on a Saturday, it reminds me of a Costco and I Like Costco , but this store is Low Budget and Unorganized, the lines were long and customers that were checking out on there own were not too swift and the under 15 items cashiers were non existent . So my initial impressions - if you are looking to be wowed with items and superficial presentations keep on moving. That part is underwhelming (except for the outside which looks very nice). If you are looking to save money, have less choices and make your shopping quicker, then go to lidl. I'd venture to guess that I saved approximately 50-70 bucks going here. Understand that the lack of choices of brands, no name or store brands is the point! There are so many items wherein we are paying for the name and it's not necessary. They don't always have everything in stock but this is definitely a great supermarket for cheaper healthier alternatives. I usually go here and get a bunch of stuff and then go to shop rite and get whatever I couldn't get here there. I mean if u don't mind doing that it's actually very cost effective and they're right up the road from one another. I really love this store, the prices and what they have to offer! 4 stars is because they often do run out of things but besides that I have no other complaints! I tried to like this store. I really did. The items they do carry are usually at a much lower price than the normal grocery stores in the area. However, it does not meet your complete shopping needs, and when they advertise an item on sale they do not have an adequate amount of the item in stock. This week, they advertised 80% ground beef on sale for $2.29 a pound. They even specified a limit of 10 pounds per customer. Their meet dept. is very limited, and I don't think I have ever seen 10 packages of ground beef in the case. Well, they had none. They also advertised scallops for $9.99 a pound. They were out of stock of those as well. OK, so I didn't get what I came for so I would have been satisfied with a rain check. They now don't give rain checks either. I won't be shopping there anymore. I have already made too many trips to this store only to find the items are out of stock. Very sad!!! read more

Ugh. What a difference. Came here yesterday and was completely grossed out. The last two times I've been here, the bathrooms were atrociously dirty. I'm pretty sure restrooms in third world countries are cleaner than this damn Lidl's. I was really needing to use the restroom, and EVERY single stall I went into had some form of excrement in it. It was like a scene out of a horror movie. Either the plumbing was backed up, or the clientele in this store really is disgusting and lacking basic hygiene skills you learn as a damn toddler. But you can't fix stupid, can you? Either way, they should have shut the bathrooms down and tried to get the situation under control. I walked out of the store after that and not sure if I'll be back. Completely repulsed. I've been to gas station bathrooms that were like the Ritz Carlton compared to this craphole. If they can't take care of their restrooms, one wonders how they handle the food you're buying. read more
