We had heard that there was a good-quality china and porcelain manufacturing in Weiden. After…read moredoing a bit of online research, we found Seltmann (another one in Weiden, Bauscher, also is high quality but only sells to the hotel/restaurant trade). We decided to check it out and went to their store. They sell many colorful and tasteful patterns of dinnerware, but also sell factory seconds without any decoration. We could not find a pattern we were fond enough to buy, so we checked out the factory seconds. Here we found plates on sale for 1.50 euros, cheap enough for everyday china and who cares if they have a minor blemish. We found six we liked and bought them to take home and try them out. The store packed them up in wrapping paper, placed them in a bag with sturdy handles, and we carried them on the plane back home. They have since become our favorite everyday china and we do not even notice the minor blemishes on them unless we actually look for them. When we went back to Weiden a few months later, we bought many more, again for 1.50 euro each. What a deal!
