This place alone, is reason for going to Old San Juan, Puerto Rico (okay, that's a little bit of…read moreexaggeration, but certainly a "must visit" if you're on the island). These hats are top quality from Ecuador (the birthplace of what became Panama hats) and will be custom fit to your head. You also get to choose a band from a large selection. The staff is very helpful and certainly know what they're doing. I have gotten lots of compliments on my hat and I don't think I've ever gotten compliments on any other item of clothing! On my recent visit I got a wider brimmed hat and the service hadn't changed from when I bought my first hat in 2019. These are not cheap hats (you can get those at Walgreens if that's all you need) but they aren't terribly expensive (north and south of $100). If you want to spend more, ask them to show you the special hats in the back room). If you're not going to be in Old San Juan anytime soon, and know your hat size, they have a website (olepuertorico.com) so you could order online. The entrance that is currently open takes you through the men's department. Tons of surf brands, some I have heard of, others not so much so. Really cool shirt designs that you don't find at every other department store. Also, there is some cool Puerto Rico branded shirts (Hurley jumps to mind). In addition to apparel they have shoes, hats, drinkware, swimsuits, etc ... tons of stuff to look at. Staff were really friendly and helpful. I couldn't find the size I needed for a tshirt and one of the workers went through a very large stack trying to find one for me....success! I appreciate how they treated customers and tried to make it a nice shopping experience for anyone that was in the store. Visited Tres Palmas to buy a body board. They had many in stock of varying degrees of quality. I…read moreopted for a lower quality board due to the lower price coupled with the fact that we were only going to use it for a few days and then give it away. A worker helped me select a board that was reasonably priced, but of good quality. As he was ringing me up, he threw in a $10 jar of Sex Wax that really isn't needed for body boards. It might be useable on higher end boards, but not styrofoam boards such as the one I purchased. I should've handed the jar back to him, but I was intrigued by it. After I got back to my apartment, I watched a YouTube video on waxing a body board and it's super not necessary. They also have an excellent selection of new and retro skateboards. So cool! Anyway, the merchandise sold here is excellent and the staff is friendly.
