I am not a member but have been to the gym and LifeSpa twice. I have limited experience, keep that in mind. LifeSpa: Nydia-phenomenal hairstylist. Easy to talk to and also felt comfortable to be quiet, my haircut left me speechless, it was beautiful. Pros: -the changing rooms are outfitted with lockers, toiletries, changing stall, showers, sauna, steam room, hot tub, and swimsuit drying machines -awesome indoor and outdoor pools, with a water slide, lots of padded chairs, and pool bar -day passes and guest passes available.. You can also use the gym if you get a LifeSpa service that day -several options to get food, protein, etc if you need that -staff was friendly -towel service Cons:- I was overcharged for my tab at the pool, signage said $8 for Mango Cart but I paid like $12+tip -$200+ per month is just not in my price range -the number of weight machines seemed low compared to everything else, I went at 1pm on a Tuesday so I can only imagine how long I'd have to wait after 5pm. Some things only had 2 of that machine, I expect more for the money paid. read more

Today is my third day as a Life Time member, and it was my first time trying to use the Recovery Room at the Gaithersburg location after a weight-training session. I was looking forward to relaxing my muscles and taking advantage of this amenity. Before I joined, Diana gave me a tour of all three floors and explained that there are four recovery rooms. She told me that if I wanted to use one of the recovery chairs, I could simply wait outside the room for the next available chair, and that each session is limited to 15 minutes per person. The Recovery Room was one of the features that most interested me when deciding to become a member. Unfortunately, my experience today was very disappointing. There were no clear instructions regarding how the waiting process works, and no staff member was present at the Recovery Room front desk to assist members. As a result, people were able to cut in line easily, making the process feel unfair. When I needed assistance, I was told to go all the way to the main front desk on the first floor, which was inconvenient and frustrating. In the end, I was unable to use a recovery chair despite waiting, and the overall experience left me very disappointed. I would appreciate it if Life Time could review and improve the management of this area by providing clear instructions, a fair queuing system, and better staff oversight. These improvements would help ensure that all members can enjoy the facilities fairly and have a positive experience. read more

Been coming to this gym for 7-8 months, and had a very negative experience here on this 4th of July with the lifeguard staff. My son has been enrolled here for swim lessons around six months(they are incredibly overpriced and staff is by and large inattentive) and recently passed his swim certification where he treat consecutively for around 2 minutes across an Olympic sized pool. He loves coming here to play because of the water slide and will make friends with any kid his age. We come here pretty regularly and I generally feel extremely comfortable with the help of the staff here. I recently had spinal surgery, and wanted to take my son here so he could play doing something he loved while I rested close by where he was on a lounge chair. I'm not able to move much at the moment, and am not technically supposed to swim with my surgery. One of the staff came over twice to tell me that it looked like my son didn't know how to swim, when I've never seen him struggle in the water whatsoever in the months since he's passed his certification. I went closer to keep an eye on him and noticed zero difficulty with him being able to swim safely as he was laughing and giggling. I stayed close by, and when I could not made my son move the the shallow end of the pool not because I felt he was unsafe but because I didn't want to be bothered again by the life guard team. One of the head life guards came over to tell me that going forward my son would only be allowed in the pool area with the life vest on, even though he's never needed or worn one. As I was not going to try to force my son to wear an extra article of clothing he never needed on a day that was over 100 degrees, we left the pool significantly earlier than we had planned because I didn't want to deal with arguing with someone who was blatantly wrong and stubbornly signaling out my child. The situation was made even worse by Andrew and one of his other life guards insinuating that I was not being negligent about my son's care. This was especially disrespectful considering that I am came here while not being as physically capable because of the trust I had in a team of lifeguards that were mostly standing around and talking to each other. The gym in and of itself at this point seems extremely overpriced, especially considering the respect of some of the staff towards its members. I'd rather spend the close to 700 on my total membership somewhere that my business is appreciated and respected. read more

I've always loved lifetime and have frequented the Clarendon location often. This location is cheaper, and has closer parking, but is less modern. I'm very disappointed with the lack of responsibility and professionalism at Lifetime pool. A month ago, my son passed his swim test. Lifeguard Sidney asked for his name to enter him into the system but never did--and sadly, this isn't the first time something like this has happened here. It's frustrating that families have to repeatedly deal with disorganization. To make matters worse, another lifeguard (unfortunately I don't know his name) told me not to breastfeed my child at the pool, saying it was "inappropriate." Yet, people wearing BBLs and thongs are apparently fine. The double standards are shocking. Breastfeeding is natural, legal, and protected--and shaming a mother for feeding her child is unacceptable. Shame on Lifetime for tolerating this kind of behavior. We expect more from a place that claims to be family-friendly. read more

For the second time in less than a month I get my stuff stolen. The first week of August, I have my brand new sneakers stolen from the locker room while I was taking a shower, fortunately I had a pair of slippers in my bag that I had to wear to the parking lot. 9/7/24. My sunglasses were stolen as well, I had them in my short pants pocket, I dropped them off while working out, less than ten minutes when I realized that, I went back to where I had my first workout, couldn't find them; I finished my training hoping someone will drop them as the customer service desk later! Bam, It didn't happen!!! I'm a member of this gym since 2017, literally few after its opening and this is what I'm going through! I'm just wondering, Why bothering paying nearly $200 a month for more than 6 years to train with low quality people, where Onelife gym is right across the street for less than $100 and my stuff won't be touched . read more

Terrible spa experience! Made an appointment for a spa treatment and unfortunately had to cancel within 24 hours of my appointment. Called to cancel and was greeted by a terribly rude spa employee who used bad language and insisted that I needed to pay 50% of the fee because it was within 24 hours of my appointment. I told her there was no way I was paying and they couldn't charge me b/c they did have my CC information. Five days later I receive an email from the spa manager to let me know that I still owed money and accusing me of using fowl language. The fact that this woman has nothing better to do with her time than to desperately try and reach me is absolutely ludicrous. I then called her and told her I was not paying and she had the nerve and audacity to hang up on me! I then spoke to the GM whose name should be Bern because he was desperately acting like he was the country of Switzerland (Mr. Neutral who doesn't want to step on anyone's toes). I've now escalated this up to the SVP of club operations who will deal with this incident. In closing, never patronize this place. Staff are beyond rude and condescending!!! read more

Why only 3 stars? Read on. Let me start by saying that this is nice club. I am just NOT getting the value I expected from it. Here are some of my issues: 1. DIRTY TOWELS all over the floor, sauna and steam room Towels in shower stalls and over the shower stall doors. Staff members just walk past this mess as if they don't see it. It's like you have to clear your stall before you use it. This happens EVERY DAY and gets worse in the evening (see pic). 2. FUNGAL PARADISE: I periodically stop using the club because I get fungal infections either at the pool, the hot tub or the towels they provide. I suspect it's the towels because the infections are always in the waist area. It goes away when I stop using the club and comes back when I return. It's the 3rd time it happens in less than a year, so I haven't used the club much in 4-5 mo ($600-$750 of membership fees wasted) 3. LOCKERS are finicky. People constantly getting locked out. And when I needed assistance it once took 12-15 min to get help despite calling the front desk. You can ask staff to open any locker, and they will oblige without checking ID or anything else. This gives me ZERO confidence that my belongings are secure. 4. LIMITED selection of abdominal workout machines. Almost nothing. 5. Only one basketball court for such a big club. The permanently shut down the second basketball court for...pickleball. Some will enjoy this place and I have no doubt it is a beautiful facility. But is it really worth: 5 x price of LA Fitness? 4 x price of Onelife Fitness Rockville? 2 x price the price of Bethesda Sport & Health? I don't think so. I just requested cancellation. read more

The gym is extremely crowded despite them sending an email saying they were going to limit memberships. Stuff gets stolen in the locker room all the time, I had someone break into my locker and the staff blamed me for letting someone see put in my locker code(there was no one around), I am convinced it's a staff member with a key. They had a story on the news about it not to mention multiple mentions on social media/nextdoor/mocoshow. They let people get away with way to much like taking pictures in the locker rooms, taking huge bags on the gym floor, people leaving weights on the equipment, etc. An email went out listing these things including people shaving/brushing teeth in the hot tub/sauna but it still happens and those members aren't kicked out. Positive: they do keep the gym relatively clean and they open super early. read more

Being a member for a few years, it's very disappointing to realize that management won't care about our time that we schedule for exercise / pickleball. Today, 7/9/2025 we have over 18 members waiting to play pickleball and the courts were closed last minute due to dusting the screen dividing the basketball and pickleball courts. Very unconsidered to everyone's schedule. Very disappointing that they didn't want to move the cleaning to a later time when everyone is asking the cleaning crew to come later when there are not players (2-5:00 pm). Please hire personnel with common sense who cares about the members instead of their own selfish time. There were two guys cleaning and over 18 members ready to play pickleball who had arranged their work schedules a week in advance.... read more

My wife has been a dedicated member of this gym for 16 years, and what I've witnessed recently is nothing short of betrayal to loyal members and extreme greed as Life Time has been engaging in non-stop price gouging. Her membership dues have increased from $89 in 2019 to $149 in 2023, over 67% in less than 4 years. 2.5 of those 4 years were during the pandemic. Time and time again, Life Time chooses to take advantage of its long-standing members, displaying a complete lack of loyalty and integrity and increasing dues using meaningless buzzwords like "refreshed spaces and enhanced programming" as an excuse to maximize their margins. Moreover, they frame their messaging of due increases to loyal members as a display of "appreciation" because it's a whopping $40 below the rate of new members. Ridiculous. This kind of greed is simply unacceptable and anyone considering this gym should think twice before becoming a member. read more

I've been a member of a few gyms, but Life Time has to be the best hands down. It is a bit costly, but the amenities, such as an outdoor pool, spa services, indoor cafe with Peet's coffee, to the different/unique classes, one has to expect a premium membership fee. Life Time also offers group training, i.e. Alpha Strong and Alpha Metcon. Those group settings are great - small classes (about 5 people), with attentive and knowledgeable trainers (shout out to Josh) that push you. This particular location is rather large. There's two full-courts for basketball and an array of equipment. The evenings are typically packed, but because the gym is large, you don't feel cramped at all. All-in-all, Life Time is a great gym! read more

This is only an update of the outdoor pool cafe. Staff is great. Customers should not be told to go inside and get chips if the poolside cafe is out or any other item for that matter. It is absurd to buy a Hamburger or Hotdog that comes with an item and the customer must retrieve it from another location. Or Hotdogs come with coleslaw and yet they are out again. Same with items like mustard or catsup. The menu says these items come with the food why in the world is not stocked. Do not sell it if the whole item is not available. Too pricey to just ignore this. Next slushies really pina colada only? Come on Strawberry or some flavor for kids would not be hard. Again staff is fabulous all the staff on the pool side is just lovely this is not on them. Someone in management is failing. read more

Having visited and tried other (and cheaper) gyms in the Germantown-Gaithersburg area, this place stands out as the only consistently clean and inviting facility that respects your senses and offers you the space to do your own thing, join group classes, or work out with one of their amazing coaches. At the end of the day, you get what you pay for. If you can afford their $189/month rate, then absolutely join this gym. Oh and that indoor pool is awesome. Some of the negative reviewers below seem to have a beef with someone, or could have visited a different gym in a parallel universe. My experience is consistently awesome and rewarding. read more

This is ridiculous. I was a member for about a year until covid came around and they closed the sauna ( sauna is the main reason I was going there ) they called me and said that since the whole covid thing is really inconveniencing a lot of the members they were placing accounts on hold with out a fee. so I told them to call me as soon as the saunas re open, never got a call never got anything. I spoke to a lady today named Rachel and I explained the situation how I have a credit on my account from when they were letting people put their account on hold. she explained to me that if I want to open an account I would have to pay the new member fee (179$) since I'm no longer an existing member because they closed my account with out even notifying me. I had a credit on there for one month. I didn't even use it at all for that month that I paid because the saunas were closed. The new member fee is about 200$ and they said I also have an outstanding balance because I have to pay 160$ for closing my account ( which I never authorized ) so I would give them 0 stars because they are very un reasonable and I asked for some type of accommodation and they said no. They also said if I want to join the gym again it would be 600$ when in reality they actually owe me 160$ or one month of my gym membership. I literally paid for no reason that month. Go to ONELIFE instead they are only 40$ a month and have everything you need including steam room sauna and whirlpool! read more

The equipment is in good condition and there is probably every single piece of equipment you could want. Terra helped me and she was extremely helpful and thorough. Took a chance on Life Time Athletic and signed up for a membership before the club even opened in Oct 2016. Yes, the gym is pricey; however, with no contract involved and a month-to-month membership, I really had nothing to lose. Even to this day I have no regrets. This Life Time Athletic is definitely as good as it gets! Classes (mainly 3rd floor): My favorites are cycling (AMP and EDG), Tabata, Barbell Strength, SHRED, and BareFusion. These classes will definitely have you sweating and leave you sore! Once you go a few times, you'll quickly see which instructors you tend to favor. You'll generally catch me in a class with Stacey H, Amy P, Jennifer B, Beth T, and Lucinda O. For the more popular classes, make sure you come early as space can get cramped. Some people even set up 30 minutes or so before hand and come back for class, which is somewhat annoying. Check the online schedule as well because some classes now even require a wrist band to attend (picked up at the front desk when you check into the club). Kids Academy (3rd floor): A huge selling point for me when I joined the club. For $40/month, C is able to stay in the Academy for 3 hours while I workout, head to the pool, get services done at the spa, etc. While there he enjoys taking a variety of classes they offer. His favorites are arts & crafts, gymnastics, create & build. If he's not in class, he'll be enjoying the play maze or in the learning lab. They recently started offering progressive classes as well. These fill up fast, so if you are interested, I'd sign up right away. In need of a parents night out? They have you covered here at the Academy too! The staff here are great and keep the kids entertained. Many know C by name and when I leave him there, I know he is in good hands. Fitness area (2nd floor): Mainly contains cardio equipment, weight machines,free weights, and resistance training. You'll find the yoga and pilates studio, as well as the basketball courts here as well. Sometimes a machine will be out of order, but I find that only on rare occasions. For the most part, finding a cardio and/or weight machine to work out on is painless. However, during peak hours, you may have to wait around a little bit for someone to finish. What annoys me on this floor are the individuals who sit on the weight machines while using their phone. Please do that at another time or elsewhere...people are waiting! Aquatics (1st floor): We enjoy using the indoor (open all year) and outdoor (open Memorial day weekend to beginning of September) leisure pools. Both can get crowded on the weekend, but usually pretty manageable. The indoor pool can get extremely stuffy, especially during the Summer months. Bonus for the outdoor water pool is the slide and outdoor cafe. There is plenty of areas to lounge in, but if you want a shady spot, be sure to come early. Swim lessons (indoor pool): This is definitely hit or miss, depending on the instructor. C took swim lessons for about a year. He enjoyed it and learned quite a bit, but they need to streamline their process. Teachers grade students differently and are often inconsistent. Some instructors are way better than others, and even work with the kids better. Weekend and evening classes fill up pretty quickly, so it's often hard to find a time slot that fits your schedule. If you/your child don't mind, you can place your child in a class with older kids if that accommodates your schedule better. Don't necessarily recommend this for younger kids as C often got overlooked by the teachers. Locker rooms (1st floor): For the most part, the amenities they offer are great. The locker rooms are stocked with towels and toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, razors, mouthwash, lotion, etc.). If you lock yourself out of your locker, someone is there to help you within minutes. People are in and out, so it doesn't get overly crowded. I like how it stays pretty clean, especially for the amount of people who use the gym. My only complaint is with the family locker room, which is supposed to only be used with children of the opposite sex. Parents (and staff) often do not abide by this rule, making it super crowded, especially during peak hours. You often will have to wait for a room to shower/change in (there are about 8 or so). There's also only two toilets, so if you have a toddler that needs to use the restroom, good luck! Staff is generally friendly. The gym is kept in good condition. Parking is usually easy to find, but you might find yourself parking on top of the garage during peak hours. Yes, Life Time Athletic is more expensive than other gyms in the area. But, you definitely get what you pay for. I highly recommend getting a membership! read more

Let me start by saying this is a fantastic gym and I've been a member since they opened in 2016. However, the price increases keep coming and I just can't justify the pricing anymore. If you come everyday of the month then you are getting a decent daily price of around $5 to $6. But realistically with my job, I can only attend 10 to 15 times a month which then comes out to $10-$15 a day. I still stuck with it, but I got 2 price increases in one year! So as much as I loved this gym, I can't keep paying these constant price increases and I don't think they are going to stop. If you can afford it and you plan to use it 20 plus days a month it's a good gym to consider. But if you're looking for a 2-3 times a week gym I'd look elsewhere as you'll be paying about $15/day at Lifetime. read more

I got to visit Life Time as a guest and was floored, which a lot of people told me I would be. Three levels of massive space, plentiful workout equipment and all the ammenities that you would want after a sweat sesh. I was particularly impressed by the third floor because it combined the equipment you'd find at specialty and boutique gyms/studios into one: turf, cages, boxing area, battle ropes, tires, etc. I was having a field day. Literally! I enjoyed the complimentary three-day pass since it allowed me to check out most of what the gym offers. I also appreciate that staff weren't aggresive in getting me to sign up on the third day and/or do a guided tour of the facility. I was a bit disappointed to find out that some of the more in-demand classes are pay to play (pilates with reformers, for example) and that the free weight section wasn't bigger (couldn't find a pair of 20s at 7pm). Overall, great gym for a great workout of any sort. Worth the bucks depending on what you want to get out of it. Lots of fit people around you, so be ready for some #FitSpo. read more

An awesome looking Heath club with so much more! The biggest selling points must be their kids academy. Two hours of included babysitting, including newborns (3 months old and up), their massive indoor and outdoor pools, and their group fitness classes. They also have two full indoor basketball courts. Great locker room with shower doors, all toiletries needed, work out and bath towels, hot tub, steam room, and dry sauna. They even have a spinner to put your wet swimsuits and plastic bags to put it in too. They have a full salon, spa, and cafe for healthy eating (albeit quite expensive). The staff are quite friendly, very fit, and very helpful too. Make sure to download their apps. Life Time Health. Has lots of exercise routines and videos you can follow. I tried couple of them and it's good! I like to use it instead of aimlessly wondering around them gym. The group fitness classes with cycling studio have lots of varieties type classes, so many classes to try. They have optional TEAM classes ($199 a month) for weight loss, foundation, alpha. Worth trying a class to see if it is worth it. It's a three month commitment $600, which comes to $15 per class). This is on top of the $110 per month membership ($180 a month per couple plus $40 per month per child for kids academy). Expensive but worth it. Everything is done well. Classes are really good. All the instructors I have worked with have been either very good or excellent. Equipment is top notch. The locker room doesn't smell like a high school like most of the other gyms do. It is clean. If you leave your stuff out, it's probably not gonna get stolen, whereas, In the other clubs, it very well may be. This may be a classist comment, but you are getting a more educated, higher class of Client at Life Time. I am the complete opposite of a gym rat Since high school, I have actively disliked gyms. We have belonged to some of the other ones nearby, but I end up not going because of one thing or another or more often because I just don't like going there. They remind me of high school. I fell in love with this place and this may become my second home. My first impression was that this place seemed like a hotel resort. The interior design with the couches by the entrance and also upstairs by the kids activities room made it feel very homey. They have a cafe to the right by the entrance where you can find very healthy options that ranges on average $8-9 for a meal. They have grab and go options as well as order and sit down. They have smoothies and snacks. To the left of the entrance way, there is a spa where you can get massages, get your hair done, facials, etc. There is also a place to drop off your kids to play as you go and work out. This has definitely become a family oriented place to go after work/school. Lifetime offers towels, aloe cleansing wipes, razors, q-tips, cotton balls, shaving cream, body lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the locker rooms. I know it's still new, but the locker room and showers are extremely clean! They also have a dry sauna room, a steam room, and a hot tub/jacuzzi in the locker room. The locker room connects to the pool area where you can find two pools and a Co-Ed hot tub. The pool area also connects to the Lifetime Spa. When you come out of the locker rooms, there are stairs to go up where you can find the main workout room. Here you can find all the weights, machines, treadmills, stair climbers, etc. There is a lot of big open spaces and there are so many machines to offer. The machines are also very high-tech with touchscreen displays and individual tv screens. There you can also find two full-sized basketball courts and another door to a hallway where you can find a Pilates room and a Yoga room. The ambiance in this hallway reminds me of those places that usually only focused on yoga like Dog Down Yoga or PureOm in Bethesda. There is a second set of stairs to go up another level where you can find a cycling room, two group fitness classrooms, a fake green soccer turf area, punching bag area, rowing machines, and interestingly curved treadmills. This floor offers many activities as well. Although the membership price can be a bit pricey, I can definitely see how this place can become my second home and I can feel comfortable coming here almost every day. I really hope it doesn't get as crowded as LA Fitness got over a year because I feel like with more people, the quality will only decrease. I was a founding member until 2020; I left bc it became a little uncomfortable w/ emboldened behavior. Came back September 2024; the cost increased dramatically, but I wanted the jacuzzi. The vibe was very different, lots of young folk taping themselves, PT Ev was an ass; I wasn't who she thought I was so she didn't want to be bothered. Fast forward. I decided to build my own gym at home, the cost, distance and the environment, not worth it. But today was the final straw. I went in to get a pedicure, definitely wanted to use my LT $25 and the classic pedicure was still $40; I paid plus the $7 tip. Went back and the master tech said pick out a color, we have vegan polish on top, regular and gel. I went with vegan. The pedicure was okay, not better than my typical place I went to a week before. There was NOTHInG special for $40 dollars let alone $65. I was so happy that I had a coupon. She polished my nails with base, one coat of the polish and top. She said oh, you will have to pay the difference in the price. When I was rung up, on top of the price I already paid, I was charged another $50 dollars!!!! WTF. The tech said nothing which is lying by omission. For those who like the idea of a Life Time$2400 a year, OVERPRICED services, food, Pilates, PT go for it, but, go to LA Fitness, OneLife, or Recreation center; get your nails done at any of these nice places for a fraction, and eat at Sweetgreens, chops or Wegmans for a salad. Buuuut I guess you're paying for how nice the gym is! First level has a cafe, spa, and the large locker rooms. If you don't have membership, they have these free cards you use to use the lockers! Nice to not have to have a physical lock! In the locker rooms, there's many lockers, bathroom, showers, plenty of hair dryers, cotton balls, lotion, q-tips all over to use. In the shower they supply great smelling shampoo, conditioner, and soap! They also supply large and small towels to use. There's also a dry and wet sauna and a whirl pool in the locker room to use! So don't forget your bathing suit! Going through the locker room brings you to their indoor pool there's also an large outdoor pool that I didn't venture out to because it's closed at this time. Then for the second floor! It's a large open space of maaaaany types of equipment! I didn't use any of these because I came for a workout class! But if you keep walking in, there's two basketball courts where I guess they have open gyms. Third floor is where they have a kids day care so you can drop off your kiddos while you go work out. And many workout rooms it seems for yoga, Zumba, dancing, hot yoga, and many more work out options. You can check online for their schedule. I came for cycling where there were TONS of bikes available! I did the pop up class which I really enjoyed. The instructor was great and had such high energy she made the class fun! And a plus, she played upbeat Halloween music which was great and so fitting since it's close to Halloween! I can see why people spend the money to go to this gym! You could spend all day here if you like to work out! In the lobby there was people just sitting there, chilling in the lounge that had tv available. I saw many families come in so I assume because of the kids care, it's very family friendly! Awesome gym that I wish I could afford to go to! I'm glad I was able to check it out! Since I am not a member I can't speak for everyday what it'll be like. It's a little intimidating to walk into the second floor because I am no experienced in the machines. I have been a member of many health clubs in my 66 year lifespan. Some good and some not so good. No reason to mention by name. Lifetime is absolutely the best of the group! Today I had 3 credit cards stolen from my locker. Within less than 2 hours of entering the club, someone was visiting the local Apple stores. In two hours they visited 3 different locations and ran up more than $10,000 in charges. VISA is going to deny the charges. Lifetime Fitness has signs around the club stating they are not liable for loss or stolen items, REALLY!! Looking forward to meeting with management to discuss. read more

I've ready through a couple of the negative reviews for LifeTime Athletic Gaithersburg and it sounds like people are complaining mainly about the price. It is $90+ here. However, I believe it's worth it. They have many classes (cycling, yoga, etc.) that come with the membership. The gym area has all the state of art machines. There are plenty of squat and bench racks too. The gym has about 8 indoor olympic sized lanes and a shallow end pool for kids. They also have an outdoor pool. It's great with cabanas and benches. The only negative about the outdoor pools is that it gets crowded with kids. When it's pool season, the gym also reloads the towels too slowly...(one reason why I gave them a 4 star and not 5). The cafe is overpriced and the isn't filling. But it convenient if you're in a rush for food and about to head out. Negatives: During a yoga class, I could hear the dribbling of basketballs. It gets super super super busy/crowded after work hours and on the weekends. Overall, I think it's worth the price if you plan on going 4 times a week or more and taking advantage of the classes! read more

It's a nice gym! I always enjoy my time at lifetime. Equipment is clean. Staff is nice. And it has great hours. What more can you ask for? The facility itself is very nice. However, if you are a working adult interested in lap swimming you're better off at your local YMCA. LifeTime prioritizes Swim Team over club members, tying up 3 lanes in each of the two lap pools between 3:30 and 7:30pm Monday through Friday. You commute from work to try and swim, and chances are slim to none you can access a swim lane. Beyond frustrating because they've also recently raised club membership rates. Responses to complaints are "come swim after 7 or 8pm" or that management doesn't care because swim team is so lucrative. Swim team even took over the outdoor pool during summer! Management isn't interested in meeting the needs of members who are there to swim in the lap lanes or they would try to find a compromise. It's also incredibly stressful to stand there with other equally frustrated adult paying members and there are frequent and unpleasant conflicts with swim team families. Management should implement solutions that ensure their is compromise that enables both members and swim team to be able to access lap lanes during prime evening hours. Do better LifeTime! read more

Not worth the high cost. After four years of paying family member dues we are done with the gradual decrease in scheduled classes, declining standards in cleanliness, constant cell phone / WiFi signal problems, unfriendly staff, and the annual notifications that rates are going up. read more

Beautiful club, quite a drive for us from DC, however, when I canceled, they did not honor my request. I was in the midst of moving and didnt notice, so lost a lot of money. I emailed with them and requested a refund, which was denied. I was not offered any kind of compensation despite having paid for 3 months thinking my membership was canceled and hence never using it. Not the type of customer service I would expect for this level of a club. read more

I've been a member for over five years and all I can say is that the quality and experience with the gym (Gaithersburg location) has deteriorated over the years. It used to be a wonderful gym for people serious about workout with lots of workout space and free weights at disposable. However this is not the case anymore. Most of the time these equipments are reserved for small (not so small to be honest, I've seen over 15 sometimes) group exercises and they'd take whatever they want regardless of other gym members. Most space is occupied and the music is super loud even noise cancellation earbuds don't help. On top of this, the membership cost has increased, in my case, from $119 to $159 a month (34%+) over the past couple of years. I simply do not believe the increase in cost justifies the ever so deteriorating experience they offer to their long-term members. read more

Went to this gym for an open house event that Devin Hamburger setup for an apartment complex I work for, and I utilized the 4 day trial! Let me say that this gym is amazing! The quality of the equipment is worth the amount people pay to workout here. I worked for Golds Gym for 6 years and the level of amenities and features this gym has? does not compare to the basic gyms. This gym is like that! Parking? They have a huge garage! and they have parking outside of the building as well. I know the number one complaint was "Parking sucks!" . The days I went? It was not too bad. I think once the apartments finish building in the back of the gym open? It might get bad? (Who knows they might have their own residential parking area. Wishful thinking) The large lap pool is cool! I saw an instructor teaching a class with music playing and everything! There is a hot tub in the pool side where you and your partner can enjoy together and SEPARATE hot tubs in the locker rooms! Who does that? lol There is about 3-4 floors, I lost count. My kids? LOVED the play area, it was so hard to get them out! They have classes for kids to go to while you are taking your own class! I think the only down fall is that it can get crowded, so I suggest not going during high peak times. The locker room was the more crowded area in my opinion. And you would think it would be the gym. HAHA! I need to put my pennies together to see if I can afford to enroll. Its pricey, but you get what you pay for. It there was a deal for a family of 4? I would sign up. At least they have a month to month option so you can cancel anytime! That is great! read more

Went to get a smoothie and was fed a line about needing to sign a waiver of risk for the gym. Had to give my email, show my driver's license, and sign the form to get a smoothie. Also got barked at by front desk staff when I didn't understand that the form was required. All in all it felt more like visiting someone in jail instead of getting a drink. I didn't know there was a gym heaven until i visited LifeTime! It is a very expensive membership, but it is month to month, so no commitment hassle, and i think that you definitely get what you pay for. I consider myself to be a fitness fanatic, so when i am looking for a quality gym, I prefer to go to a place that has all the equipment i want, and LifeTime exceeds that! I currently do CrossFit, and they have everything a CrossFit gym would have, in addition, there is so much space to do you own HIIT workouts, and plenty of cardio machines and weight training machines. The fitness class option are extremely accommodating because they have two studios, plus a separate yoga studio, plus a separate cycling studio! They also have a small turf area and a boxing area. there is also an indoor pool and outdoor pool. The locker room is always clean of the few times i visited as a guest and you do not need to bring much because they provide it all for you (towel, small towel, shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, razor, make up remover, mouth wash). Cleanliness is important to me because i tend to get grossed out easily (like seeing hair balls all over the locker room at LA Fitness). And there are plenty of toilets, showers, and endless lockers. I got lost looking for the toilets in this locker room. There is also a hot tub, sauna and steam room which emits essential oils. This place far exceeds expectations. I would personally say that you are definitely receiving what you pay for. It seems worth it to me personally because i know i would utilize all the equipment and other amenities they have, especially since i like to cross train and diversify my workout routines; i tend to spend a few hours at the gym and for self care (sauna, and steam room). Plus its is extremely well kept. But if you are looking for the bare minimum, and do not care about extra amenities, then i would say save your money and go find a cheaper gym. read more
