The gym is for sure the biggest I've been in, which I found has its downside. Way too many kids, which makes it noisy and makes if feel like a community centre. Classes get very full fast, you really have to arrive early to get a spot. Lots of machine & weights. Had a decent joining experience but they do exhibit some of the slick selling tactics that is typical of US culture. Anyway, I have been charged $250 (plus HST) per month for a family membership and have been assured that no one gets in lower than this. I was a member there since 2015, I mainly used the pool... overall it is a good facility, they keep the machines up to date and everything clean... but the price is a bit much, a single membership is around $160 with tax a month, there are other things I can use that money for so I cancelled my membership recently. For me it is the price, paying $160 a month, members don't even get a discount at the spa. read more

I joined lifetime since when it first opened , it's a nice facility and has great equipment. Management is awful, arrogant and unprofessional. I participated in some of their programs at the gym where you are given a trainer to work with you to achieve your goals over a 90 day time period, they took my money and never even gave me a trainer. When you try and complain to the head trainer or location manager, they are too arrogant to give you a sincere apology. Facility is great but i'm paying over $100 a month I expect professionalism from the staff, this alone is reason for me leave. This is one of the best health clubs I have seen. I will not repeat what has been written in the other reviews, but I dont think they have left a stone unturned. Lots of equipment and great facilities. I'm not even a member here but I've gone on an extensive tour of it and this place is legit. Why am I not a member? Because it's not close enough to my house. The fees are high for individuals but are decent value for families, which is why other reviewers have seen a lot of youth around. The outdoor pool looks like a resort. The hours are great. The whole facility is very CLEAN. 3 floors. If you're in the area I strongly suggest you take a tour and see it for yourself (just try to avoid weekends). Yes...it's huge and has virtually anything that you can imagine....but the membership cost is such that you pay dearly for the privilege of size and variety. However they are no different than the majority of fitness/gym chains. Pushy sales people, high pressure add-ons constantly, and read your membership contract very carefully as they hold the right to tack on small costs for stuff that you don't really want unless you opt out. Gym itself is good, can get crowded even with its size at peak times and it can be difficult to find sufficient space to actually do your workout. Don't go in thinking they are any different or better than the typical gym, watch out for automatic add ins and billing tack-on's. read more

I don't usually write reviews but I feel like I cannot bite my tongue anymore. I had a very negative experience with one of their staff. They really need to train their staff in terms of customer service. I received their promotional material in mail sometime last year offering a free trial for a day. I thought that would be a great opportunity for me to check it out as it looks like a great place to visit with my family during the winter. I gave them a call and was promptly transferred to one of their representatives. When I mentioned the promotional material that I have received, the representative appeared hesitant of answering my questions. He stated that the promotion is only offer to residents who live within certain number of kilometers to the facility. I thought he was skeptical because I made the call using my office phone with a 416 area code, so I told him that I lived very close to Lifetime Fitness, and I was just calling from my work. He then stated that he noticed that I made the call from a community centre, and wondered why I needed to sign up for a fitness club as fitness facility should be available at where I work. I explained to him that where I work is not affiliated with the centre that he has in mind and there is no fitness centre available. He did not seem to believe me. After telling him the number of people we have in our family, he then went on and quote me the monthly fee. I was surprised as I did not ask for that information. The purpose of my call was to set up a time to visit the facility and I did not expect that they would give me a quote right away. When I tried to reassure that there were no obligation, he said, " yeah, but I want you to know before you come. Just like if you're shopping for a Ford or GM, I would not give you a quote for a prestige car." He then gave me a time and date to tour the facility, and insisted that I "shared" the monthly fee with my husband before our visit in case it is too expensive for us, and if that is the case, I could call to cancel. I could not believe what I heard as it is quite clear that there is an assumption that we cannot afford this place! I called that evening to cancel the appointment. Since then, they (different staff member) had tried to call me a few times to inform me about their promotions. I am afraid of calling them back, I am afraid that when they find out I work at a community centre, I will receive the same kind of treatment. read more

I joined Lifetime 2 years ago shortly after they opened. I have loved the club and chose to disregard some of the short comings mentioned in these other reviews. I joined after communicating with a Lifetime "web specialist" named Jamie G. I have an email thread from 2 years ago from Jamie at LIfetime that shows that my Mother and I qualified to use their Diamond Couples membership and get a bit of savings since we live in the same household. Let me clarify, as I did then, the criteria for a Diamond membership is "shared finances and shared household". Jamie was clearly eager to get us signed up and the contract was sent to me approving my Mom and I for this specific "couple" membership. I spent up to $360 per month at Lifetime which included my son's swimming ($100 for swimming lessons). Not including countless other expenditures like $8.00 Mocha Madness smoothies. After over 2 years, Tyler, the manager, and a "business administrator" named Jennifer told me that we no longer qualified for the Diamond membership savings. We may live in the same household but we are not the proverbial "couple". I contacted their unhelpful corporate member services and spoke to "Babs" who read my original email thread from Lifetime and told me that "email sign ups make mistakes..." There was no intention to honour the original contract they offered us. I was actually told to produce proof of joint banking or a shared mortgage. Obviously we share expenses, we live in the same house. The proof I have that we share a household is our drivers licenses which was not acceptable. I asked if they requested married couples to produce proof of joint banking and she replied "yes, if they don't have the same last name..." I hardly believe that! I told them they were going to lose 2 members who basically sung Lifetime's praises over the years. They did not care one bit. Lifetime is a corporate machine, they may try to read your name off the screen when you enter and be pseudo personal, but in the end you and your money do not matter. Why did I cancel? I would have to pay an additional $50.00 (with the tax) per month for myself and my Mom. This would take me over $400. Lifetime reneged on their original contract. Basically, head office and the staff in Mississauga acted like I was getting away with murder for 2 years. Clearly, 2 years ago when the club was new, they needed members. Now, they don't care to keep the members who have been loyal. The service in this matter was horrific, too bad they ruined a good thing. Alexandra in the front office tried to justify the decision to me by saying, "what if I shared a house with my cousin..." I just could not hear it...this was a membership that was plain and simple, offered to me upon signing up. There was no hidden information, I didn't "sneak" anything past them and from my saved email correspondence, I have it in writing from Lifetime. The fitness instructors, many were fabulous,and they worked so hard to build relationships with the members. I made wonderful friendships as well, but unfortunately this has to end as a result of Lifetime's stupid customer service personnel. I have since joined LA fitness in Burlington. It's not as nice, but the instructors so far have been great. It's $40 per month. See ya Lifetime, there's options out there, you're not the only game in town. *edited to add, I have since found other clubs that are not so discriminatory offering various plans including single parent family discounts, senior discounts, senior couple discounts, and "2 adults" discounts. Clearly, if you are a single parent or a family that does not fit the nuclear so-called norms, you are not welcome at Lifetime Fitness in Mississauga. Just keep looking for the right fit. Do NOT join this gym. I signed up after hearing you could cancel if you were unhappy within the first 14 days. I canceled on the 11th day, went in to talk to the person who signed me up and we sat down to sign some papers. He wrote the incorrect date (4 days later than it actually was which pushed it past the 14 day policy) and circled the 30 day cancellation instead of the 14 day on the cancellation contract. I did not read this sadly due to me trusting him with handling this situation. They then told me a refund could not be processed due to me signing and CHARGED ME AGAIN a month later. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with and I advise you all to stay away from this overpriced gym. read more

I have been a member of lifetime for 4 years and recently left them after the last price hike. It is hands down the best gym in the GTA; great equipment, excellent facilities including squash/basketball/ soccer / and indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The cafe's food/shakes are fantastic and well priced. And it was the only gym with changing rooms clean and well maintained enough for me to shower/ lounge in. The outdoor pool is fantastic in the summer. It remains very expensive (steep sign up and monthly fee), if money is of no issue to you then it's a no brainer. read more

I have been a member since 3 months. I am getting more concerned about the safety in the locker. Someone has access to the master key or is keeping an eye on the combination code. My locker has been broken into twice and I have raised my concerned, but the only reply I get is to switch my locker and change my code. I do not understand how does someone have so much time to sit and crack the code while the locker room is busy. My entire gym bag and clothes were searched and my cash was stolen. Don't do it. I'm sure these other reviews are bogus. This gym is no different than all the others that want you to pay outrageous prices and not show up much. They have a $0 enrollment special with fine print that says (plus a one-time admin fee). The admin fee is up to $129. $129 for some over bearing sales guy to talk you into a membership? I don't think so. Admin fees are just a money grab... pure profit and you get NOTHING for it. I called and asked the receptionist for the prices and she refused to give me any. She said all the sales people were in a meeting, so, I'd have to leave my name and number to have them call me back... unreal, terrible service. A number of improvements need to be made to this gym as I've decided I'm going to cancel my membership. CONS 1 - My account rep is no longer with the gym and I was never notified. I've been sending emails with no response until I finally had to call the gym before I was told that he was no longer there. Someone should be managing this transition. 2 - My complimentary personal training lesson was a nightmare - I found child care for my 6 week old and arrived 10 mins early to my appointment, only to wait 30 minutes for the trainer to arrive and told they had someone else scheduled in my spot and I was to be notified, but never was. Someone needs to notify members if there is a scheduling conflict. 3 - I brought a guest and she was yelled at in the locker room by an employee for taking more than one towel, not realizing she was grabbing towels for a group of us. My guest was so embarrassed - better staff training is necessary. 4 - Cost is crazy -- almost $200/month for me and my infant. PROS 1 - The group fitness instructors were great all around. The spinning instructor spent time with me before class. one-on-one, to show me the proper way to adjust and ride the bike. 2 - The outdoor pool is well kept and a lot of fun during the summer months. read more

Facility: The Gym is more like a fitness resort. The change rooms and equipment are all up to date and kept clean. Plenty of towels and sanitizer sheets everywhere. Has all the sports and fitness equipment you can imagine and plenty of classes and variety. The instructors are fantastic - been to 6-7 classes, all been very accomodating to beginners and encouraging. Yoga instructors are great - speak to them before you start so you know what to expect from each class. The yoga studio is very large, not as intimate as dedicated studios. Price: $140+hst/month - definitely pricey, but if you use all the classes and go to the gym 3-4x/week, definitely worth your money. Don't sign up for their LT-Tab (essentially a hand in your wallet) you can just charge products, services to your LT-Tab and gives them permission to charge it direct to your credit card. Personal Trainers: Unfortunately seems like they only want to talk to you to sell you sessions. They may be knowledgeable, but the try to rope you into paying 90/hr or at least 300 for a "package". Its too bad - this kind of sales ruins the gym experience. Used LT-Bucks to try a session - what a waste, didn't offer any real help just a 1 hr sales pitch. read more

If you have a young family, Lifetime is a good gym to join. if you're a single person or a family with teens, run for the hills. You will be charged top prices. From what I can tell 'single' members or families with teens are basically subsidizing their daycare. If you have children over 12 - each child is charged full price ; they are charged at the adult rate, so think twice if you have teenage children. Unfortunately, Lifetime is overrun with kids and kid's parties. Forget about going there on the week-end; they are completely booked with birthday parties. You would almost think you were at a Chuck E Cheese's. One week-end I actually saw an adult Cinderella swanning around in the lobby; she was there for one of the birthday events. I used to be a member at a Lifetime in Texas and the monthly rate for a single person was $65/month including taxes. Here at the Mississauga location,they charge me $150/month. I asked them why the difference was so high and the explanation they offered was that the club in Texas was only a 'Gold' level and the Mississauga was a 'Diamond' level location. I thought I would give a try for a few months. I liked the club in Texas and thought at the Diamond level there must be some super special differences.. After a few frustrating months I can tell you there are NONE!!. in fact the club in Texas is far better; the number of classes that they offered and the level of quality in instructors in Texas was far superior. Actually there was only one thing I can remember that the Lifetime in Texas did not have; a daycare center. So I can only assume I'm paying more than double in fees at the Mississauga because they have a daycare center; a service that I would never use as a single person without kids. If your preference is to attend workout classes rather than use the cardio equipment, this club is not worth the money.You will be frustrated by the quality and number of available group fitness classes. Due to the minimum class availability, you are packed in the classes like sardines. Also they tend often to cancel classes at the last minute for no apparent reason. I'm not sure what the audition process is at the Mississauga location, but it must be fairly easy because they hire some very lackluster people. If you're a single person or family with teenagers, save your money and go elsewhere and if you are located in Canada wait for Lifetime to construct a 'Gold' level gym because it will be exactly the same as a 'Diamond' level and hopefully cost you a lot less. read more

The facilities are really nice. The change room is great. Fitness instructors in groups classes are all great. This is long, only because I am so frustrated The admin staff are snobby and condescending. Anytime you ask for anything, they'll give you a hundred reasons why it is impossible to do it. Yesterday was no different. A week ago I bought a membership for my brother (25 yrs old), who lives with me, so that he can enjoy the facilities and can take my kids to the kids club once in a while. We had to sign forms that allowed him to check my kids in and out of the club - which is a reasonable step. Yesterday I drove my brother and the kids to LT. I decided to be with him as he checked them in for the first time. To our surprise the paper work we signed a week earlier has not been processed yet, and because of that he couldn't check them into the kids area. That meant I cannot leave the facility while the kids with him, I had to stay. So they said go back down to the admin desk and they will resolve it. We went down, brother and kids in tow, to the admin desk. I told them about THEIR mistake and how they didn't process the forms we signed last week. I was told flatly that the "Business Administrator" is not available and there is no way they can accommodate me. The only way my kids could use the club is if I stayed around. I told them that I seriously had to go and because I did my part in signing the papers a week ago I expect them to accommodate me and let my brother check the kids in while I go out. No. No. No. is all I got from Gabe to Will to their manager. I was told that the business administrator didn't put any notes on my account allowing my brother check them in. And NO ONE ELSE in the facility can authorize it. I was told that in any case only a 'nanny' can take on that role other than an actual parent. I said HE IS MY KIDS NANNY. They said NO, Jennifer, the Business Administrator had to approve him What!? When I protested and said *I am their parent and I don't need Jennifer to approve who takes care of my kids* they insisted that THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING they can do to help me. When I pleaded that my wife, and brother, and kids and I are all paying members who did our part and filled out all the required paperwork and I am willing to sign any paper they need now to accommodate me, they flatly refused. Their attitude was extremely snobbish and condescending, treating me as if I am trying to do something wrong or I something I'm not entitled to. For a brief moment of clarity one staff member felt that they are being ridiculous and called the kids club and agreed with them that if I signed a new form allowing my brother to check in my kids then they would allow it. At last a moment of clarity and good customer service. But the *manager* intervened angrily and reprimanded the staff member for *going over her head* and *undercutting her word* and again trumping a misplaced policy over customer satisfaction. The issue could easily be resolved but for the manager's arrogant attitude. Fixing this issue for me, which was due to them not processing the papers I signed a week earlier, was an insurmountable task to these Policy nazis. I threatened with my only weapon and said that we will cancel all our memberships. As soon as I finished that sentence the manager nodded her head and started my cancellation procedure, telling me that cancellation will be complete in 30 days. For these people, cancelling my membership is the easiest thing to do. As for processing my paperwork and accommodating their members is an unforgivable sin and an IMPOSSIBLE thing to do. I've been a member for three years, I love the facility, they are clean and nice. I love some of the programs for kids and their recent upgrades. I liked their birthday parties, too. However, I always had problems with their administration staff. Whenever they made mistake, they never learned to say sorry. I heard from my friends who are also a member had many issues with this place and in the end they no longer go there. It is expensive compare to others about $150 per months for a membership. Also their staff's are not good at handling any issues. In addition their administration staff make so many mistake, for an example, you never know who has your credit card information. Recently, I found out that they have made mistake with my account, and their issue handling is extreamly slow even if it is a matter of personal security breach. It is important to review your credit card statement everymonth. Because Lifetime Fitness has no ability to find out who used your credit card when or where, using their club tab function. Once you provide your credit card information to them you may end up being shoppings free for other people. Please check your creditcard statement everytime if it is regarding Lifetime expense. Great facilities - but overcrowded quite often. From talking with other members and what they paid for a family membership (could be up to 6 people), I almost the same for just two of us. They seem to be very family oriented, but for what I am paying I don't expect to be working out in a day care. The "adults only" rule in the gym is not enforced - even when you ask staff to do so (as they don't want to alienate families) - so you get parents with their younger kids in there, which gets in the way of anyone half serious about bball in the gym. Great facility, but given I have to watch out for young kids heaving the ball up for a three pointer bullet (that rarely hits the rim) - it's not worth the extra money I pay to have access to a court - better off at the YMCA - at least they enforce the age rule. ENFORCE YOUR RULES LIFETIME! Or call yourself a FAMILY GYM. read more

Our family paid $395 per month and we enjoyed the membership, until the gym started using our account information to withdraw unauthorized payments for summer camp .... $1800 worth!!!! I wasted a lot of time off work to get this corrected! I finally just ended my membership. Each employee has their own idea of the "company policy" and it's so, so annoying. Money hungry, like any other gym. Pool out of commission all week, and yet they allow swimming lessons for the kids. Too many kids running around on weekends, so going there on a weekend is prohibitive. Towels have gotten smaller over the past year, they don't keep the supply carts stocked in the pool area. The TVs on the cardio machines 'freeze' every single day...takes a good 5 minutes for the feed to return. Showers always have long hairs stuck to the walls. Pretty gross. If I'm going to pay $160. per month for ONE person, then all of the above should not be an issue. Disappointing. read more

LT Bucks - It's a lie. If you use them for trainers you can't get a good trainer. Even they tell you "You know it's not real money right". You can't use them for the SPA or restaurant either. Aquatics - Group Swim Lessons are very unorganized. The instructors ask the swimmer what they would like to work on. There is no set curriculum so therefore no lesson plan. Instructors ask you to do something and then walk away from the swimmer. When they come back they provide no actual instruction. They ask again "what would you like to work on". The Promise: My wife and I were told this: When you join the gym you get a free mandatory assessment checking body measurements and fat percentage. You then can use your LT bucks to get a training plan from one of the trainers. You are recommended to do this free assessment every 6 weeks so that you can see if your program is working. Sounds good right? They sound like they mean business and aren't just out to get your money. One meeting with a Trainer put me straight. No assessment without paying $150 for a 1 hour session with the Trainer. You want another in 6 weeks? You can get it for another $150/h session. Overall: It's not a bad club but, I expect more for the cost which is $234 per month. The Pool, Steam room and Sauna have all been broken at one time or another during my 2 months and they don't really seem that enticed to fix (as you would expect when you're paying that much). For the pool they even put a sign out to say "Closed until further notice" thereby not providing a target to complete. Too many kids running around and although it looks like there is ample space for parking I've twice had to wait and follow people leaving the building to thier car. Too much like Christmas Mall shopping for me. Keep in mind that this is during slow season. I'd hate to be there during the New Years rush. Showers (in the Mens room) are too few for the amount of people. You invariably have to wait for an open stall and periodically get a knock on the door if someone feels you've taken too long (greater than 5 mins). read more

Everything is fabulous about the gym except the infant childcare. So, if you don't have kids you will love it. However, if you have infants- DONT JOIN! Basically they only take up to 8 infants and you have to phone 72 hours in advance to book them each day in childcare (you cant book them any earlier) and if you are a bit late (eg. 70 hours) then you wont get in. So, if you go to the gym 5 times a week- you have to call 5 times to book them into the infant room and they probably wont get a spot so you wont be going to the gym. Other than the infant room though, it is great. read more

Don't waste your money. They just increased the price to $160 per month! They gym is PACKED at all hours of the day. You'll be lucky if you even get the chance to go on one of the equipment...especially the weights. DEFINITELY the weights! The parking lot is jam packed full of people, the service of this gym is shit. Yes the facilities are really nice...but its not worth it anymore. I will be cancelling my membership first thing tomorrow morning, no point going to a gym where you have to practically wait in line for equipment, or attend a class where you are shoulder to shoulder with people all around you. This gym used to be nice and well maintained, its not so much anymore. They care more about signing up as many people as possible, increasing the rate every few months, declining the amount of classes available that are free (you've got to pay for a ton of the most popular classes on top of your membership). Just to give you an idea to be able to attend 2 classes per week you have to pay anywhere up to $120 EXTRA PER MONTH...on TOP of your membership. Good luck if you want to take a shower in the change room, you even have to wait in line for that. It's not worth it anymore, I will be signing up for Good Life for $30 a month or any other gym and I will get access to almost the exact same things that Life Time offers. I wanted to review the gym and also respond to another reviewer who wrote a nasty comment about Mariella. My girlfriend and I go to Lifetime 5 days a week and take classes 4 of those days. We have done several classes with Mariella and I think she is awesome. Her classes are very challenging and I appreciate the fact that she tries to push you. It is almost like having a personal trainer when you do one of her classes. I have never seen her slack off and not do the exercises. In fact, I am surprised by how much she does do in the classes. I've consistently seen her do the exercises often with the heaviest grey hand weights, and do all the harder exercises like the pushups on her toes. I know a lot of the instructors often perform 3 classes in a row. For example, last week I saw Mariella do a 2 hour Salsa dancing and then run upstairs to teach a cardio class. The last thing I would accuse these instructors of is being lazy - especially Mariella. One other thing: Mariella is also very friendly. I noticed she really takes the time to get to know the members names. I am really impressed with Lifetime. It is the first gym I have ever belonged to that I actually want to go to. I feel like the instructors there really project a positive energy that in motivating and inspiring. The facilities are excellent and the instructors have been consistently impressive to me.
