This church is more about feeling good than serious learning. No crosses in this "church". I didn't feel like I belonged.

Their waiver, which differs from the campground's waiver, requires parents to waive negligence by the Church (i.e., staff and volunteers) that could lead to injury or death of the child. The campground's waiver, which mirrors standard waivers, only requires parents to waive injury suffered by the child (e.g., on their own), and excludes negligence. The campground's waiver, which appears drafted in good faith, is understandable and similar to many waivers parents have signed. Most reasonable parents will not seek a claim if a child gets injured or sick on their own, but negligence due to someone's actions is different. It is worth noting that negligence leading to death is so serious that there are criminal laws on this subject (e.g. manslaughter), so why a church would try to evade civil liability and/or accountability for such an event is beyond me. Further, Port City Community Church's waiver also requires parents to consent to the indefinite use of a child's picture *and name* on a perpetual and worldwide basis for any reason the Church deems necessary. The campground's waiver only requires consent for the picture, which is understandable as pictures may be shared on their social media platforms; that's not a big deal. However, the Church's broader waiver regarding the possible use of a child's name and picture indefinitely for any purpose the Church deems necessary poses safety risks if strangers worldwide can not only identify a child by picture, but would also know their name if the Church decided to publish it. Human trafficking is a real issue and I do not think making a parent agree to put their child's picture and name out to the world indefinitely, just for a child to attend overnight camp, is reasonable. Pictures, yes. Pictures and name? No. All of the terms of the Church's waiver must be agreed to for the child to attend. Again, unlike the campground's reasonable waiver which is similar to standard waivers, the Church's waiver is very broad and the church seemingly acknowledges this as it states in the church's waiver that parents are waiving substantial legal claims.

We wanted to be friends to all and wanted to let people know, regardless of where you go to church, we are still friends and one body through Christ. Over the past few years, we have remained friends with countless people both inside and outside the establishment we used to attend. We've heard countless stories about how, when they left, no one reached out to them, not even a simple check-in. A group of people they thought was actually family had just left them. If we base our ministry and message around community, this should be reflected BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE of the church. When our daughter was born, all the seeds we had planted of being friends to others came back to us tenfold during the first few months of adjusting to this new lifestyle with a newborn. We had someone over to our home every day, either to support us with encouraging words, supply us with food, or simply give us a gift. These people truly represented what the Body of Christ is: people from all different backgrounds and churches still supporting one community. It was expressed to us that we have "lost all the trust" of the previous establishment we once attended because "it has become a pattern" that people who have left the church in the past have remained active friends in our lives. The establishment and Family (one and the same) were "deeply sad and hurt" to go through my Facebook and see all these people on my "little couch." Sad to the point that the heads of the establishment had to remove themselves from my Facebook (still as active tithe givers to this establishment) because it does not bring them "joy." When questioned, "Isn't this what community is all about?" it was expressed that it's not "their job" to chase people down who have decided to leave the establishment. When questioning these things, along with other issues, it was apparent that "we shouldn't be questioning leadership." During the attempted conversation, it was expressed that we are "not going to be told how to run our church from you, ESPECIALLY YOU!" They said they have their own accountability, and it's not from anyone within the establishment. I have never been called a name by a "Shepherd," but this week I was called a fool four times. I've never had a "Shepherd" attack a God-ordained marriage, but this week I watched as they pointed at my wife and said, "I never wanted this for you." I have never had a "Shepherd" attack friendships, but this week I was told that none of those people "love me" and was then told every negative thing they have said to them about me in private. And I have NEVER, EVER had a "Shepherd" attack a child with a verbal curse, but we were told that every negative seed that was planted in their family and church's life will come back on our daughter, and we "will see." Sadly, we have not been the only victims after all these years. We REBUKE AND CURSE any attack of the enemy off our family in the NAME of JESUS! No weapon or negative WORD will PROSPER against me and my family! Church hurt is one thing; I've witnessed it as a kid. But this, this was a spiritual attack on my family that I have CUT OFF at the root in Jesus' name! #WelcomeHome

From the very first day I walked in the doors I felt at home. Pastor Tim is so friendly, charismatic, and welcoming to every guest and regular attendee alike. They have wonderful ministries for everyone. They have a Sisterhood ministry and Celebrate Recover ministry, as well as another for youth called Vibe. I personally participated in the SOZO young adult ministry which allowed me to get involved & connect with peers of mine within the church immediately. I served in the children's ministry that is during church on Sundays and can say firsthand that the children are well taken care of, so loved on and so poured into while they are there. There are small groups available and a monthly Wednesday worship service along with other special events throughout the year. Services are currently held on Sundays at 9:15am and 11am however they will soon be transitioning out of their location at the mall and into a temporary location in October 2018 so check their website first! I highly recommend this come-as-you-are church to anyone looking for a place to call home. I can't wait to see all that God continues to do in Wilmington through this church!
