I love that they have multiple service times (9am-Spanish, 10:30am & 12pm in English), to cater to the different times people are available to attend. Oh and on the 4th Sunday of every month the senior pastor (Pastor Samuel Rodriguez) comes down from Sacramento to lead out the 6pm service. This is the type of church you have to visit at least once, and if you're searching for a new place to call your home church, I would highly recommend for you to check it out. There are various ministries you can get plugged into or you can simply come and be part of the family that can encourage you in your walk with God.

The way he puts things into prospective with life situations and bible verse, I love it. If only all of them do homilies like him, I will be in cloud 9 all the time. Sometimes I tune in to EWTN when i can't go to in person church and St. Raymond. And EWTN also gives good homilies. I miss the choir............the original choir with Jeannette but I know it will never go back to before. I guess i have to move on to not reminiscing of the past but i can't help it when i am at church. I highly recommend St. Raymond to attend Sunday mass in Downey.

Needless to say, I expected it to be a bit crowded, and possibly a bit chaotic. But it was incredibly organized. As many people there were accompanying them many beautiful babies, the whole thing went (almost unbelievably) smoothly. Its location is a bit unusual given it is right in the middle of two streets. Parking is across at the opposite corner which got packed rather quickly. It's a beautiful church, though. I'd probably return should an occasion like this come up again.

Taking care of business and running errands around town, I drove past Abundant Hope Church and…read morenoticed a group of people standing outside waving at passing cars with a sign that said, "Free Prayers." How sweet is that? I always tell people I'll pray for them, but I've never been brave enough to stand on a corner and flag people down to offer one. As I continued on my way, I realized I had plenty of things I could use prayer for myself. There's power in prayer, right? So I turned that car around and marched right over. When they asked if I wanted a prayer, I shared some concerns about my Dad & Mom health . These wonderful people took the time to listen and pray over my family and I . It was such a comforting and uplifting experience. There was even a cute little puppy there, which always helps! They wrote down my prayer request, invited me to come back, and let me know they do this every Friday morning. I think that's incredibly cool. As if that wasn't kind enough, they even sent me home with a loaf of bread. Such a thoughtful gift. My message to anyone who sees something like this happening: don't be afraid to pull over. It might end up being exactly what you need. I know it was for me. I need all the prayers I can get, and what these volunteers are doing is truly God's work. As I was pulling away, someone else rode up on a bicycle looking for prayer too. Looks like I wasn't the only one who needed a little hope that day. Five stars.
