The pictures online or SO deceiving. The rice tastes like pilaf. I was not impressed. This is not mexican food!

Lunch date yesterday and this was the location I chose. We walked in and were seated shortly after entering, but you could tell the server was busy. From what we could see they were fairly busy around 1220 so understandable for the middle of the lunch rush. She brought our drinks and salsa a few minutes after we were seated. My hubby ordered chicken & steak fajitas while I chose the lunch Burrito supreme topped with queso instead of the original sauce. The salsa was bland but more tasteful once I added a little salt. The "spicy" queso was very good. He really enjoyed his fajitas, but I was in shock with my burrito. It was HUGE! I had enough for another full meal including beans/rice as well. Overall we were trying not to spend over $30 for lunch, but with a beer and our food it was $36 without the tip. I was surprised they didn't offer a military discount, but leaving with 2 full meals for a little under $50 was better for the mind. read more

Not a good experience. Service was fine but we didn't enjoy the food. The salsa and chips they brought us was just odd. As you can see from the picture the salsa was like they opened a can of stewed whole tomatoes and poured them in the bowl. You can see the stems on the tomatoes! Yuck. We ordered the chipotle cheese dip for an appetizer with flour chips. The dip itself tasted off, and the chips were completely chewy as if they were made days ago. For my entrée I ordered an ala carte cheese and onion enchilada and a fried shredded beef taco. The enchilada was just okay and the beef taco was so plain and it appeared it was filled with chunks of tasteless pot roast. Bummer as they have an outdoor eating area that looks nice even though it was closed that night as it was chilly out. The margarita however was good so maybe stopping for one of those on the patio is an option but likely not. We honestly both felt sick to our stomachs the rest of the night which never happens. read more

Lil Burro has easily become one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the Omaha area for both dine in and take out. My order has always been correct and served hot. Always great! I ate here 20 years ago, and the food is just as good today as it was back then. Shane knows how to maintain quality, and his chefs as well as many of his staff are loyal and still there. It's wonderful being able to essentially step back in time to when I lived in the area. I highly recommend eating here. All of the menu items were designed by his wife and family, so it's about as authentic as one can get. read more

Well we love some good Mexican food, pretty disappointed in this lil place after hearing all the hype about it being amazing.. The server was amazing and loved her job (especially being there 17 years off and on which was awesome...). We tried the tamales with the green sauce - they were decent, I have had much better but have also had much worse.. We got the Supreme burrito it had more flavor than the tamales but still pretty bland as the beef was not seasoned at all which was a bummer.. Our son had the Burrito Macheca which I would say was the best of all of them, very spicy but great flavor.. The rice seemed like Uncle Ben's rice out of a box (no bueno) and the beans were pretty good but also I think canned (could use more cheese and some onion on top.. We felt ill burro fell short on the Mexican food aspect. My quesadilla seemed to have a rubbery steak that lacked flavor and we were extremely shocked when we asked for queso and were told they could melt cheese but not the white kind and a bowl of melted sandwich cheese was brought out. We also felt for the quality of food the prices were outrageous. read more

One of our new favorite places in Bellevue area. Have been here many times. I think they have one of the best traditional margaritas in the area. I've tried a lot of dishes, but I think my favorite is the Shrimp Asada. I have never had/seen this dish anywhere else and it is a definite must try if you are a shrimp/seafood person. My husband has had the seafood enchilada and says it is really good as well. The staff is always friendly, but service can be slow (on occasion and dependent on how busy). The owner often comes around to check on the guests and to see how everything tastes. read more

We had 2 tacos with beans and rice. The beef tacos had grease actually flowing from the shells. No seasoning or flavor except for the grease. Table top was very sticky. So far these were the worst tacos on our 2023 taco tour. read more

This was unexpected yet delicious meal on our way to Fontanelle Forest. We were in search of a patio and while Lil Burrow advertised one, they did not have outdoor seating. However, they do have a drive through (look around the perimeter). The guacamole was fresh and clearly homemade. Our entire family agreed the salsa was delicious. The fried puffy chicken taco was delicious. The enchiladas were average. We would definitely return. read more

First thing I saw before I walked in was a sign on the door that said all card transactions will incur a 3.5% fee. As I've said in other reviews. This is 2019. If it's the bank you are using for transactions that is charging you then you need to switch. Businesses have a bevy of options when it comes to POS systems and supporting banks. Second thing I saw was what appeared to be one of the employees kids just hanging out on top of a table. Not in the booth. ON TOP OF A TABLE. I get it, some times you are forced to bring your kid to work. But maybe keep some semblance of control and sanitation. We sit down, the chips we get are hard as a rock. My wife complains and we get more "heated" chips. They took the same ones and popped them into the microwave to hopefully soften them? I'm not sure just a guess... it didn't work. You may be asking "then why 3 stars". Here is the thing. Once you get past the kid literally dancing in the middle of a restaurant and obviously disturbing tables the food wasn't half bad. I got the tacos and my wife got chimichangas. Taco meat could have been seasoned a little more or at all. But it was good. We got chipotle cheese dip on the side which was good too. Overall we probably won't be back. But it has more to do with us being ambiance snobs and less about the food. 3 stars. Could be more with some easy changes. read more

Lil Burro has the best margaritas in town and the food is great too. we've tried a lot of different dishes and they're all excellent. some of our favorites are the chille rellenos and huevos rancheros. but probably the best part is the jalapeno poppers. in the summer they're made with jalapeños that are grown on sight, which makes them really fresh and tasty. don't pass this place up, once you go, you'll definitely be back. read more

3.5. We decided to have a date lunch with just the 2 of us. DH had Fajitas and I got Combo 4 with a bowl of posole. The Posole was spicy but very flavorful. I would get it again. Combo 4 had Cheese Enchilada, Tamale, and ground beef Taco, beans and rice. I didn't like that my beans and rice got mixed with the enchilada sauce. Yet, all the food tasted good. I was pleased- it wasn't the best I've ever eaten, but for here, it was good! The Fajitas were awesome! Marinated in their BBQ sauce, they were hot and fresh. Very pleased! I didn't give it a 4 star because I just didn't feel it was a complete 4 star. Still, we would go back to Lil Burro! read more

Small place located next to base housing. Have given the restaurant a few trips over the years. It was a main stop for us until newer, more up to date restaurants serving real Mexican food opened in the area. The decor is a cross between old soda fountain shop, and sports bar. Not much Mexican decor. Staff was okay, but service was a bit slow. Several dishes we have ordered over the years have all tasted the same. Different item, same flavoring and generic sauce. The food is more on line with Mexican American, than true authentic Mexican dishes. It has a nice location, but not worth the price for what you get. They do get a loyal local following though that keeps the doors open. read more

Ordered the Chimichanga, which I figured is hard to mess up - but they managed to anyway. It was soggy and tasteless. Everything was really bland and uninspired. To counter this the kitchen smothers everything in a a bland, brown gravy and cheap melted cheese. Service was hands-off and needed to be flagged down for drink refills. Interior decor made absolutely no sense; the walls were covered in coke advertisements in an attempt to be "vintage." If you want good, authentic mexican food, get back in your car and drive north on Ft. Crook until you get to "Taqueria de Tijuana." Sure, you don't get free chips and salsa and the staff doesn't really speak english and the atmosphere is informal, but the food is better, cheaper, and authentic. If you think free chips is worth eating bland food that all tastes like soggy tacos, then lil burro is for you. Summary: Bland, standard Americanized Mexican food covered in cheese. Even Taco Bell tastes better. read more
