If you're talking about A1 customer service, Little Dizzy's Café has to be at the top of the list. From the moment you walk through the door, you're greeted with a smile and treated like family. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely happy to have you there. The food is absolutely amazing. Everything I've tried has been delicious, and you can tell it's made with care. The ambiance is a little cozy on the inside, but they also have outdoor seating and an upstairs area, so there's plenty of room to enjoy your meal. I love everything about Little Dizzy's. Little Dizzy- I'll start with the Customer Service. Excellent excellent excellent. They were kind they were engaging. They were suggestive. They were family. We have been hearing about this restaurant from the time we pulled up to New Orleans and we made it our last stop on our restaurant tour. The line was consistently wrapped around the building, so you know for sure I was for sure knowing I was gonna be licking my fingers. The ambience was inside and outside great they had an area if you want to eat outside they had an area if you want to eat inside it was clean and Felt like you came to your auntie's house to go eat.. We ordered I think we almost ordered everything. We had a catfish and shrimp plate two pieces of fried chicken greens, macaroni and cheese yams and white navy beans. For dessert I ordered the bread pudding. OmG.. I almost forgot the real reason we went there... the gumbo. I will attach a picture. Nothing that I ate there made me wanna slap my mama.. I went to New Orleans's looking for a slap your mama food. The shrimp and fish were bland. The shrimp was OK. The chicken I give that a 10 out of 10 recommend.. I had a chicken breast. It was moist and It was seasoned down to the bone . Now let's get on each sides., the greens they added something a little bit sweet to that I did not like that, the mac & cheese was giving cheesy, but not given that southern you know how it has that creamy thick kind of a bitter cheesy situation going on with it that you know it came out of the southern person's kitchen. It didn't give that I still ate some of it, but it wasn't the one I was hoping it was.. The candy yams almost gave me a full-blown cavity at the table, very, very sweet. I was really looking forward to the navy beans and rice with a sausage in it because it was amazing looking and unfortunately they had over seasoned them. It was a little salty so I did not get the chance to enjoy that. The gumbo, OK I swear I'm not picky, but the gumbo did not gumbo, it chicken souped, and I was sorely disappointed. The bread pudding was a little thicker than I like it. The sauce on it was good. One thing I really appreciate it is that there was a ton of food ordered for tasting and it only cost me less than $60. So very inexpensive to eat there I would go again to try other foods on the menu, but this is my take on the food that I did try.. I won't criticize anyone who has hundreds of reviews in drafts, because you know what's worse? Forgetting entirely. My visit was in 2024 but as they say in Congressional hearings I did have contemporaneous notes. The fried chicken was superbly juicy. The mac-and-cheese was great but if you wind up in a scenario where you're only getting one side, the awesome dirty rice may be the way to go. This place has been on my list and I was finally able to try it . The line to get into the restaurant moved really fast. We got there about thirty minutes after opening time. We were told this was a must stop on our trip to New Orleans. There's bound to be a wait outside which is okay, we waited about 30 minutes starting at 11:10 on a Monday. There's was a woman guiding the line with a clipboard, she was very intense about the line and the seating process. There was a lot of yelling and reiterating the points about ordering over and over. It was a little hard to feel relaxed when there were so many rules and reminders. It moves fast-ish, but for this food, I'll wait an hour or more--the owner is out there directing traffic, welcoming you and making sure everyone is happy, safe and prepared to get your order in. And BE prepared, they are no frills and all family/business here. This was the best meal we had in NOLA, and we went to all the places (galatoires, commanders, dragos, gumbo shop, the market, all of them). We were there maybe 10-15mins before they opened on a Saturday and there was only one other group ahead of us. By the time we ordered and were seated based on a number they assigned, the line was out the door. Do: Order one of the daily specials. Saturday was the shrimp grillade. Best grits I have ever had. Wish it came with more shrimp for the price. Do: Order Jake's crab cakes with crawfish sauce. The crawfish sauce is thick like a gravy with some tail meat. When eaten with the crab cakes it is actually perfection. Literally I cannot stop thinking about this sauce and their crab cakes. When eaten with the grits too its just so amazing! We came late because we had a work event earlier in the day. I have been wanting to try Lil Dizzys for a long time. But I knew coming late could mean I couldn't get everything I wanted. In the line outside we were told they're out of Mac and cheese. All of a sudden they magically had some when we were ordering. My fried chicken was made to order, hot and crispy. Li'l Dizzy's was one of a few restaurants on this New Orleans trip that I was most excited to try. Unfortunately it was the worst restaurant we ate at on this trip. We waited in line for a while on MLK day to try this place out. Service was great, menus were handed out and there was someone to answer any question we had while waiting. I'm not sure if it's because they were so busy that day that it compromised on the food quality. The fried chicken, though really crispy and juicy, was extremely salty. It was a shame because the cook on the chicken itself was perfection. The amount of salt on there was just unbearable. The Mac and cheese and potato salad was just mid. It's just there to be there as a side. The crab cake was not bad, had good flavors, but again a bit too salty as well. Oh man. I mean honestly, in a city where it's tough to stand out for your fried chicken and other Cajun flare this place shows up. We weren't able to get a seat at a more well known spot and couldn't have been a better turn of luck because Li'l Dizzy's knocked it out of the park. As someone who has tried almost all the fried chicken in New Orleans, most of the red beans and rice and a good amount of the fried catfish. All the food came out fresh and tasty with the crab cakes being the star of the show (please give it a try). The price point is more than reasonable with the portion size. Lil Dizzys is a very popular spot with a good system for seating guests and friendly staff. Note: the first floor has more visual character than the second. As for the food, I had the catfish with shrimp and sauce on top (the name escapes me now) and although the catfish was a bit salty, I enjoyed. It had a great crunch to it - basically a texture-filled dream to my palate. The dirty rice with ground beef was okay and the potato salad had a strong vinegar taste (unsure if it was the relish or the mustard- or if their recipe actually calls for vinegar). The bread pudding was kind of 'soupy' (too wet) and aside from sugar, I didn't taste any cinnamon, butter or other notable flavors. Did not eat it. I still encourage everyone to try it - there are so many rave reviews on here! But I expected more in terms of flavor. This a throwback! A real treasure. From the joyous greeting to the legit grandma made fixins. It feels like home here. The kindest greeter ever shares the specials when you walk in and also plays air traffic control for the staff. We ordered at the counter and sat, then food came promptly. Once again Lil Dizzy's did not disappoint. Fried chicken was seasoned and fried on point. Mac and cheese was delectably cheesy. We tried the smothered pork chop special and I ain't mad at it! I've never had smothered pork chops before so I don't have a reference but what I can say is the pork chops wasn't dry and the gravy was da bomb! We also ordered gumbo and the only critic I have is that last time we got my shrimp and crab and this time some of the bowls didn't have any shrimp or crab. Now with that said it was still amazing! I was recommended Li'l Dizzy by our tour guide but also by a couple of reviews on Reddit. It is located in the Treme part of New Orleans. To be honest, the area was a bit sketchy but we didn't have trouble walking about. When you walk in, you are greeted with a "Welcome to Li'l Dizzy". They serve a lot of soul food dishes here. There is no bathroom but they do have hand sanitizer. A lady walked us through the menu. You have to order up front and they assign you a seat to sit at. We ended up getting white chicken with gumbo. The gumbo was meh at best. The white chicken was worth getting. I wouldn't say it was the best chicken but it was freshly made and was pretty tasty. Every local recommended this spot and it was A M A Z I N G! Food that you couldn't ever find in California, that's for sure. We had the smothered okra special, 2 piece chicken with a side of Southern greens, and an order of gumbo. Everything we ordered was a hit. The chicken was crispy, and the seasoning on it was really different from other fried chicken I've had. It was GOOD. The smothered okra was incredible and I had previously thought that I wasn't all that into okra, but this dish wasn't slimy at all and it was chock full of meat. Huge portion for a very reasonable price. The gumbo here is on the thinner/runnier side but it was delicious. The food here does run a little salty, but it didn't bother me at all. Just so so good. It's a busy spot, but they keep it running like a well oiled machine. You have really got to stop here. On the top of my list of places I must revisit when I return to NOLA. read more

I can eat this every day. 10/10 SMOTHERED OKRA: They dont have this every day. I've never had okra before so this dish was a nice surprise. It's like a creamy jambalaya with okra. 10/10 FRIED CHICKEN: Deeply crunchy with a thick layer of skin while the meat inside stayed incredibly juicy and tender. Perfectly seasoned with a balanced blend of savory spices. 10/10 DIRTY RiCE: Rice and savory fluffy long grained rice that's almost like a pasta. Loved their flavors from their meat - I think mostly from beef but could be mixed with other minced meat. The flavors are bold and hearty. 10/10 MAC and CHEESE: Just how mac and cheese should taste it - cooked, then boiled so the top part is crusty. I loved the rich cheese sauce. We ended up sitting upstairs, which felt like a big living room on top of a house. It was OK cuz we were just there for food but we felt like we didn't belong to the restaurant. The wait to order was reasonable, considering a lot of people had questions at this new "buzz" place, including myself. Food came out within 5-10 min, and we were provided our drinks while we waited. She pronounced the lemonade refreshing, the trout the best she has ever had - and she lives in NY, so that's saying something - and she moaned over the collards. The green beans were the only thing she wasn't plussed with, but they're green beans, right? I tried the trout as well, and darn if it wasn't the best non-fishy trout I've ever had. ;) My Catfish Jourdain ($21.50), fried with a creamy lemon shrimp and crab sauce was outstanding! I also had the collards and groaned. The potato salad is homemade and mustardy like I like it, but missed my tastebuds by a hair. No worries - next time I'm going for the dirty rice or the yams. Bottled soda ($2.50) was my drink of choice, and we took home a bread pudding ($4.25) which we ate cold later and were not disappointed. Ordered husband a fried chicken breast ($3) and a catfish plate with mac & cheese and green beans ($16.50). He scoffed it down like no one's business, said it was really good and wanted to know how close is the restaurant? (We live across the river from it.)
