Two stars but only cause the bar itself is cool. Was in Wednesday afternoon with my dad visiting me from outta town and wanted to take him to the stockyards. Couldn't have been met with a more rude bartender - how dare we ask any questions! There was a chalkboard listing the specials but usually there's a diff happy hour. I asked if there was happy hour and she pointed at the board.. K thanks, very helpful. Then we order a couple drinks, my dad just pulled out like $12 cause our last drinks were that at the last bar, instead of just saying hey your total is $___... she taps the bar and goes "I'm gonna need more than that". Are you kidding me??? THEN something comes up about how a band is going to play and my dad asks oh who is playing? And simultaneously I ask what time? You'd of thought we gave her a brain aneurysm. So then she replies "it says outside". Do better. Remind your bartenders that 1. Just be nice 2. The stockyards are literally full of tourists and they're going to talk and ask her questions. 3. If you don't like your job, get a new one. Would be a 5 star place without her. read more

Everything was incredible ! It was my first trip to Texas but I guarantee it won't be my last ! The people are great, the food was great, the service was great and the hospitality is off the wall ! A group of 6 went here Saturday night. We were there few hours spending about $200. When time to leave we asked the bartender for two cups of water (One member of our party had had too much and not feeling well). We were REFUSED the water. The bartender said she would give us a cup and ice but that we would have to buy a bottle of water ! So I could order a drink mixed with water... I could sit and wait for the ice to melt to have some water, I could go to the bathroom and fill the cups with water from the sink (which I did ) but the bartender REFUSED to pour the water in the cups from her spray gun or bar sink. Nice honky tonk type place. Paid $45 cover for three only to play pool. We made a reservation; told the staffers at the door we would be most likely gone when the band started. Drinks were fine. Bartenders were nice. Servers that were checking on our abandoned reserved table were friendly too. We played 5 games and literally when the band started jamming we lasted about 15 more minutes and headed back to the hotel. Not exactly good value here; I could have bought a pool table on Craigslist cheaper and played in the hotel parking lot and left it. Super fun vibe inside. The stools are hilarious. There is a ton of space inside. There was a musician later in the evening as well. The bartender was attentive, engaging, and fun. She had a positive attitude and was informative. The drink options are plentiful. This end of the street is just as good if not better than where all the shopping is. It gets more happening the closer to the weekend however. Most places down this end closed during the week. read more

One of the best bars in the DFW for a true Texan experience. Sadly, they closed their snack bar up and that has made drinking there more difficult as those drinks are indeed strong, and I need something to eat while hanging out. Well if you're looking for a typical country style bar in the stockyards this is the place to go. They have a live band playing and a dance floor for people to two step. There's a bar as you enter and the staff are pretty efficient. They have plenty of tables and appear to have a DJ booth too. They also have a small hole in the wall serving basic BBQ to eat which is good if you've had a few too many beers. I had a great time because I went in expecting a very country style, saloon full of cowboys dancing and having fun in the stockyards, and that is exactly what I got! read more

Longhorns has long graduated from the Mecca of underage drinking. Back in the day, all the rural country kids would drive from all around to hit up longhorns. We'd buy crappy test tube shots, sing karyoke, grind on our loves for the night, then rush home to beat our curfews. It was awesome. Now this place has been upgraded with a nice stage, some tables to sit and rest in between dances, and a great bar. Randy Rogers was playing last night and the dance floor was hooping. I liked the crowd very nice people all dressed up. Beers are pricey at $4 on a Saturday night. read more

Had a great time here. The food was amazing. We were doing some hopping for a friend's birthday, so I ordered chips and cheese for a quick snack. The queso was much better than anything I'd have expected and the chips were seasoned perfectly. We ended up hanging around for a bit so one person in our party ordered the ribs and OMG. Unanimous approval from our 10 person group. The meat was falling off the bone, and the flavor was so smokey and perfect that the sauce wasn't even necessary. Those that did try the sauce however said that there was also goodness there :) The bartenders were a bit lackluster personality-wise, but the band and dancing made up for it. We had a great time. My only wish is that Fort Worth weren't so far away. This is literally my first visit in about 8 years, but I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Lil' Red's. P.S. I heard from one of my group that someone was washing dishes in the bathroom sink, but I didn't see it so I'm just going to assume that it never happened LOL. Thanks! read more

Stools that flatter your ass get a green light in my book. Lil' Red comes through with these sassy ass stools that makes you feel saucy indeed. I may have been a little wine tipsy at this point. A few more drinks later and the next day I found some photos of me riding on the saddle that they keep on a fence. Okay. But prior to that I do remember switching partners with a cool looking couple on the country dance floor. Talking to a nice older couple celebrating the woman's birthday. Making fun of my date's outfit calling him people of Walmart. Maybe that's why he hasn't texted me again. But hey, why so sensitive? Oh well. But the drinks here folks, are strong. My favorite place to dance in the stockyards. Has the old Texas Honky tonk atmosphere that I crave. The bands are always good too.

Saw Hank iii there. That show was INSANE fun! He always puts on a great show with both of his bands, Hank iii and the Damned Band & ASSJACK. You wounldn't even believe its the same group of folks. And Longhorn Saloon did a good job hosting the show, as good as can be expected. Bars did run out of preferred beer. The show was all ages, because I love to get drunk and mosh in a pit with 10 year olds. Kidding...was NOT in the pit. But I did have one dad annoyed that his little kid couldn't see the show over my big adult head. I guess he really needed his precious child to learn about pits, drugs, drunkeness and how to conjugate the "f" word correctly. Security was lax to say the least. Luckily we managed stools along the railing over looking what would have otherwise been a dance floor had there not been a pit. Seats were good and what beers they had were cold. They could have planned a smidge better, but all in all a good night. Go see Hank iii, buy tickets early. This show SOLD OUT and no one was selling their tickets outside. Tickets went for $100 online general admission. CRAZY. read more

I settled in here on a recent night of exploration and found myself parked with a couple of bartenders, the cook (who I didn't know was the cook at the time) and a couple of random folk in on a night when the Stockyards weren't teeming with tourists and the wallets of drive-bys. Yes, it's a new day for the gang at the Longhorn, and there's a ton of space in here, I might say, even, deceptively so -- and they're eager to host the crowds ready for a little live (mostly singer-songwriter variety) music. In general, I find that Fort Worth rooms dedicated to hosting acts do so relentlessly, and the Longhorn folks seem steeped in that tradition. You'll find a bar full of lots of standard (and often quite Texas-friendly) brands at the bar, and I settled into a couple of Lone Stars over my chats with those present. I need to get back when they're fighting them off on the weekends - when the stage teeters toward the crowd (and the crowd back), and soak up the folks they're booking in prime time. It may not tell me everything I really need to know about the Longhorn Saloon, but it just might tell me something interesting. And most days, interesting's enough to predict a return engagement. read more

This place was a surprise all around. I wasn't sure why the final Fort Worth show for one of my favorite local bands was held here since they are far, far away from the country music that I associate with the Stockyards, but it worked. The door guy was cool, the bartenders were fun and the drinks were cold and readily available. There were three different bars available for grabbing drinks so we never had to wait in line (except for that one time when another patron was so drunk that the bartender had to help her sign her tab). I thought the sound system was really good, and liked that they projected the bands on the multiple flat screens at the back of the venue.
