Fortuitously we drove past here while on the hunt for Italian food, setting off bells ringing in my…read morehead about a great new place fitting that description being around here somewhere. They rejigged things to make a table available for us and the service was charming, chatty and efficient. On a Saturday night around 6.30 the place was full and it seems this neighbourhood eatery is popular with the locals, young and old alike. Our meals were pretty good if not fabulous and for the price there was really nothing to complain about. Two of the little tackers had the Spaghetti Bolognese and cleaned their plates, while I appreciated being able to get the Fettucine without the chicken. Steak for the bloke and penne for the little bloke and everyone was happy. I would really recommend this place and can't believe it's been around for three years and I've only just found it. It's BYO too!

It seems so hard to find good food in Onehunga. We dropped in here on a Friday night. It was like a…read moresauna from the heat from the oven but there were no seats available near the door so we had to put up with it. By the end of the meal it was pretty unbearable though. Perhaps some aircon or fans even would be a good idea. I would not like to visit this cafe in the summer time!! Anyway we ordered the pan fried scallops and the calabria pizza. The scallops came with bacon and a creamy sauce with a small side salad. They were cooked nicely but the sauce was not anything that would blow you away. I would say it was just ok. The pizza unfortunately didnt look very appetising when it was brought to the table. Maybe we ordered a pizza with too many toppings (spicy pepperoni, olives, onion, capsicum and tomato) but the flavours didnt seem to work especially the sliced tomato on the top(???). I would doubt that we will return here again. However the cafe was busy so maybe this food is just not for me. Also there is BYO so that is always good :-)

Not bad place for a good meal. I've eaten here several…read moretimes when I have visited Auckland. My favorite thing about this place is that I can sit down and have a nice casual meal without resorting to the fast food joints in the area or the too fancy dining establishments. Little Italy has a neighborhood "joint" feel. The place is pretty small and seating at some of the tables are a bit tight but the staff has been very quick and the food has arrived promptly. There's nothing fancy about the place, but it's not a bad choice for a comfortable meal.

If you haven't had really damn good Italian food, Little Italy might seem alright. However, to pay…read more$23 for a plate of penne with a watery arrabbiatta and very thinly sliced cheap salami is not acceptable in my book. My friend had the tortellini which was clearly frozen and not handmade, with once again a watery cream sauce and pieces of avocado! It is true that this place has a cozy 'neighbourhood joint' feel to it but there is a very fine line between cozy and just tacky. The blinking fairy lights, too small booths and being able to hear everyone's conversation a small neighbourhood italian joint it does not make. Our waitress was very nice but a bit clueless about interrupting our conversation to ask if we needed anything and then not realize we needed water top ups. It seemed like everyone else in the restaurant was a tourist, which makes me think that this place is one of the few tourist traps in the CBD. My advice: for the price yelpers local and foreign can definitely find better.
