I was really pleased by Liliana! This is located in my city and I'm shocked that I have taken this long to try it. The fact that they have housemade pasta in all kinds of varieties says a lot, they really care about attention to detail, and it is evident in the menu offerings. We ended up getting a handful of items to include the focaccia with seasonal butter, garlic bread with marinara dipping sauce, hamachi crudo, and the rigatoni. The rigatoni had berbere spices in it which made it super flavorful and unlike any other pasta I've had in the twin cities. The berbere spice is traditional to Ethiopian slow-cooked stews so to find it in a pasta at an Italian restaurant was very intriguing! The flavors were perfect! I am excited to try more things from the menu and try other pastas, the flavors did not miss and I was impressed to say the least. The ambience is also lovely, you'll forget that you're in a shopping center in the burbs. On a mission to find the best chicken parmesan in Minnesota led us here, and Liliana absolutely delivered. The ambiance sets the tone right away. It's intimate in the best way, beautifully designed, with a great bar vibe. One of my favorite touches is being able to sit by the window and watch the pasta being made. Our server Nicole was amazing. She gave thoughtful recommendations and made the whole experience feel really special. We started with the supplì, which is like a rice-based version of a mac and cheese bite with red sauce, so good. The prosciutto bruschetta was also incredible and a very generous portion. For pastas, we tried a few and each one was so unique. The scarpinocc had this slightly sweet, really balanced flavor with beet, pickled orange, and butter. The bucatini with lobster was delicious with a nice kick from the Calabrian chili. The paccheri was a standout. It reminded me of a rich, slow-cooked pot roast but with pasta instead of potatoes. Easily my favorite of the night. And of course, the chicken parmesan was exactly what we came for. Thick cut, perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and smothered in red sauce, served with spaghetti. So good. For dessert, the individual popsicle was such a fun and unique touch, definitely worth trying. We also shared the crepe with ricotta and fruit, which was a perfect way to end the meal. I visited Liliana for the first time during Winter Restaurant Week. For my three-course meal, I picked the steamed mussels (one of my favorite foods), mushroom agnolotti, and lemon tart. We also added on octopus tater tots because we'd never seen anything like them, as well as the garlic bread. Service was friendly and attentive, and the dishes were staged out nicely. The food overall was flavorful and had some interesting twists, like numbing Szechuan peppercorns in the octopus and fragrant black garlic in the agnolotti. If you are out in the eastern suburbs, this is a wonderful place for a special meal! The only things I didn't love were the mussels (they were a little sandy unfortunately) and the garlic bread, which was oddly sweet. read more

We chose Liliana for our second anniversary. Overall good experience. We were seated promptly and the hostess was nice. Waitress was attentive. Smaller menu but that is what I would expect. Pasta was delicious! Fresh, al dente and very rich so no need to order too much if you are getting something with cream sauce. Ingredients were done right and seasoning was balanced. Loss of star is the acoustics of the dining room. It's too loud. I had to lean in to hear the waitress. She also said "yeah the noise is bad in here when we are busy". Owner(s) think about some acoustic panels or some way to tamp the the reverberation in the room. It definitely distracts from the experience where I felt like I was back in my high school cafeteria. We came here when it first opened and the bucatini was amazing. Huge chunks of lobster, great sauce, a lot of burrata. The next time we went, it was mediocre. We went again tonight and got the bucatini once again and there was hardly any burrata and almost NO lobster. The few pieces of lobster were so small, I'd call them "finely diced". I paid $27 for noodles with sauce. We also split the parcherri and the favor was good, but hardly any meat in the dish. I will say that the service was excellent, but unfortunately, I will not be returning. read more

Though if you want to go on the weekend, make it at least a week in advance. Parking was also easy! Our server was friendly enough. But he clearly kept trying to upsell and was just going through the motions where it felt like he was trying to rush us out. We shared the olives and bruschetta. And I had the strozzapreti. Had a taste of it from my friend and it was so creamy and good -The sweet potato app-loved the different flavors and textures and that sauce on the bottom was amazing! -Complimentary zeppoli. Good parts: -Snow Maiden drink-while all the cocktails are slightly steeper price wise (especially the spritz options), this one felt better and was very flavorful. I will say I liked the spirit free arbusto better though. -The Creste di gallo pasta. Fun flavor and loved the pasta shape. Could've used slight more variety in texture (maybe by not grinding up the clams to be so small) -Rotolo-good; very very rich so prepare for that in advance -The garlic bread-very unique and creamy. It's so nice to have a fancier, non-chain place in Woodbury. I had heard about this place opening up and decided to go for a recent special celebration. I love the "modern Italian" vibe here. There are many favorites you'll recognize, but with a little twist. We started with the garlic bread and arancini. I would seriously have been ok if that's all we ended up eating. The garlic bread was gooey on the inside and delicious. I actually sopped it up with some of the extra sauce from the arancini, which was also delicious. I tried the corn carbonara, which was so good. I think it might be off the menu again, since it seemed like a summer dish, but if it's on there, I would highly recommend. Honestly, it didn't look like there was anything bad on the menu. If you are in to cocktails, the cocktail menu is creative. Definitely ask for recommendations. I can't wait to come back! read more

Great Woodbury addition! My family is a big fan of the lovely Estelle in Saint Paul and have been excited to see the expansion as both carry the same owners. It's thrilling to see a small business expand as opposed to chain restaurants. What an exciting time to support local! I made a reservation online for my birthday with a total of 4 in my group for 6:15 pm. When we arrived, I had added +1 to my headcount and made sure to tell the staff right away as I understand this can cause a mix up on tables, etc. Needless to say, our table was not set and ready until almost 7:45pm. Luckily, we were not in a rush and were able to enjoy some cocktails at the bar prior to seating. When seated, we had already familiarized ourselves with the menu so were able to order relatively quickly. My table split the appetizers of sweet potatoes, greens salad and garlic bread. There was plenty for 5 of us to split. My husband adored the garlic bread. It was super rich! For my main entree I opted for the ravioli. I appreciated the white sauce (unique) and sweet corn. It was very good and rich just like the garlic bread appetizer. Our service was a little iffy (IE: reservation delay) and I 200% think this is due to new staff, new location, etc. For my latest experience, our server was slow with the drink refills which was a huge bummer for us as we went thirsty many parts of our evening. My hope is that this gets up to Estelle standards soon and I trust it will. Overall, I appreciate the ambiance with the dim lights, clean space, and open bar and kitchen concept so customers can see the handmade pasta being made. In addition, simple touches on decorating such as the table bud flower vases and body length mirror in the bathroom were selling points for me. We enjoyed the bartender who was super chatty and willing to help us out with drink recommendations. For the record, the spritz is super light and refreshing! I ordered two - delicious! My main recommendation to all is to try ordering a nice base (such as the salad) or something that will offset the garlic items. I visited Liliana on a Monday night for dinner, and overall, we had a good experience. Upon walking in, we were promptly greeted by the host and ushered to our seats. The restaurant itself had plenty of seating, it was clean, and stylish. Pros: The prosciutto bruschetta was phenomenal! It had the perfect amount of sweet and salty. The noodles served with both pasta dishes were cooked and flavored to perfection! Cons: We made the reservation for the pasta bar and the chairs were very uncomfortable. Fortunately, the restaurant was not busy, so we were able to move to a dining room table. The chicken on the chicken parmesan was heavily breaded. I had to pick most of the breading off. The restaurant is modern and open, relaxed upscale vibes, but not unique. The food tho. Omg. I was so happy. The sweet potato with whipped caesar, crispy kale, sun chips and everything else in that dish, was a perfect fall dish. It woke me up, and here I thought it was going to be boring. The pastas - rotolo and chitarra, I was so pleasantly surprised. The rotolo, little golden nuggets, were decadent, rich, and earthy. My favorite. The chitarra was beautiful and had so much flavor, and the octopus was crazy tender. The chili crunch in the chitarra had that numbing effect, I hated that, but I still appreciated the bites I had. Came to Liliana for an impromptu dinner on a rainy night. They were so accommodating on a packed evening. Star of the night was the prosciutto bruschetta. Food: The from-scratch pasta is al dente and texture is great. Shrimp perfectly tender. But the flavors weren't all there. Branzino was ok. Fillets were very small and the spicy chorizo/bean mixture just didn't mesh super well with tender, mild fish. Salad was crisp and fresh, though. Service: prompt and friendly. Very accommodating if you have food sensitivities. Ambience: super cute and modern vibes. Open kitchen concept with bar seating. Indoor space is adorable. Small patio outside is nice. Overall, we thought the food was above average for suburbs, but expected a bit more from Estelle's sister restaurant. For some reason, I was notified that my review on Oct 30th was deemed fake by Lilliana's, so I am rewriting it and including a screenshot of my transaction to prove that I went there. The food was mediocre, especially the smash sandwich. When I asked the server if they had iced tea or lemonade, she didn't know! The bench seats are uncomfortable, the tables are small, and the seating is so close together that the waitress kept bumping our table when she was serving other people. We had an amazing experience at this pasta bar from start to finish. The chicken Parmesan was outstanding -- one of the thickest cuts of chicken breast I've ever been served, yet somehow it still retained all of its moisture. It was incredibly juicy, tender, and perfectly cooked without being dried out at all. You can tell real care goes into the food here. The complimentary dessert was such a pleasant surprise too. It looked like a little circle pastry, but had the warm, sweet flavor and texture of a churro -- absolutely delicious and a perfect ending to the meal. Our waiter went above and beyond the entire evening. The service was attentive, friendly, and truly exceptional. The ambience was relaxing and inviting, the food was excellent, the prices were fair, and the portions were generous enough that we happily brought leftovers home. Being a big fan of Estelle, it's no surprise that Liliana (the newest restaurant in the family) is also up my alley. Liliana is more Italian influenced than the pan-European menu of it's sister restaurant and everything we've tried thus far has been enjoyable. Even though it's only been open a few months, there have been some menu changes already. The Rotolo (think lasagna pinwheels) and Ravioli have been great, the garlic bread is every bit as rich and addictive as it looks and I could eat a comical amount of the chicken liver pate cannolis. The wine list unsurprisingly leans on French and Italian wines, they have some creative cocktails and a small list of beers. There's a small patio for the warmer months and the dining room itself is well done, if not a bit loud. Woodbury needs more options like Liliana, and based upon how busy they've been each time thus far, it seems like the locals are ready for them. read more

My husband is african american and I am caucasian. We went, to dine, at Liliana's, at 4:15pm. It was a holiday weekend with many people out of town. We were the only patrons in the establishment. The host attempted to sit us at an extremely small table by the kitchen. When we asked to move to a different table be proceeded to state that all other tables had 5pm reservations. There were, approximately, twenty empty tables. We told the host we would take our business elsewhere. He did not try to right his wrong.
