At the end of the trip, we both agreed that we wish we had spent more time in Vouvray, and this was largely due to the hospitality of the Bertrands. Absolutely the most gracious hosts we have ever come across, more than we could ever hope for. We had gotten in a little fender bender before arriving in our rental car, and they were so kind that they actually came in with us when we dropped our car off to ensure proper communication (neither of us spoke French very well) and make sure everything was taken care of. Who does that? We were honestly blown away. Gorgeous, well-maintained house. The room that we stayed in was huge and came with a full sitting room and spa-quality bath. Breakfast was delicious, and they even made reservations for us to have dinner at a place they recommended in town, which was amazing. One of the bes meals we had in France. They looked after us as if we were close friends or even family, not just random strangers paying for a place to sleep. If all bed and breakfasts were so incredible, I swear I would never go home.

The bucolic countryside greets you as you drive up to the beautifully restored Mill, complete with a bubbling stream, chicken, geese and cows in the pasture......you are literally transport in time. The Moulin "Family'' (Jonathan, Bernard, Pascal, Christiaan and Figaro the loving chocolate lab...) all gave us a warm welcome that made us feel like we were returning home for the holidays. You create real friendships with these people. The gourmet "Eat, Pray, Love" kind of dinners made us savour every bite, paired with the perfect wines and homemade desserts were exceptional. The room was set with soft candlelight, antique french linen, flowers and lovely dinnerware. Two days we toured with Bernard as our guide to several chateaux, surrounding villages and wine caves to learn more about the local history of the Loire Valley. Visiting Saumur is a must, along with Linières Bouton, the Moulin's little village that Jonathan is restoring with the same impeccable integrity and love as he did at the Moulin. I will definitly return.....I'd even consider moving there to be a part of the magic of the Moulin Bregeon and Linières Bouton.

Super comfortable bed, memory-foam pillows, super-soft sheets. Bathrooms had huge, deep tub with massaging shower and heating towel rack. Strong Wifi signal. They have a very large lawn where there are tables and chairs for dinners, evening cocktail enjoyment or to lounge away the afternoon. They also have a large pool and fully equipped pool-house. Everything one could want for the ultimate relaxation to event planning Lovely continental breakfast served each morning with fresh baguettes, croissants, homemade jams and fruit; French-pressed coffee The couple who own & run the B&B are among the nicest people we've met. Lots of recommendations regarding the surrounding wine regions, castles and chateaux - we made our tour plans based on their guidance and were so pleasantly happy with our itinerary. The location is perfectly situated to visit the larger, surrounding area and get a wonderful overview and make the most of our stay in the region On our second night there, I encountered a very embarrassing bout of food poisoning from eating at 1 of the neighboring towns and ended up requiring antibiotics to combat. They were so very accommodating and gracious. I am eternally grateful! So if staying in the Loire Valley & needing to be treated royally, you can find it all at Cedre et Charme

Gorgeous bed and breakfast, located on what was formerly King's land!…read more Location: surrounded by French countryside. And you're within an hour of several gorgeous castles. What's not to love? Decor: The main reception building/kitchen/dining room is a 16th century building, with many of the original trimmings in the arches, fireplaces, and doorways (and possibly some of the furniture). Service: Pascal was incredibly nice! He doesn't speak a lot of English, but it was still conveyed that he was incredibly friendly. Breakfast was beautiful. It included fruits (topped with a small logo chocolate), Pancakes (thick "dollar" pancakes or crepe style), French bread with 3 types of jam (one of which was an orange jam from his family's farm in France), and a small cake. There's also the option to add eggs from the b&b's own farm, either in the form of an omelette (delicious! & with cheese!) or eggs(/"soldiers") in a basket. Bacon or a butter croissant were also extra options. Things to note: The WiFi left something to be desired. The bathroom is split. The toilet is downstairs, and the sink + shower/tub were upstairs. Use the kitchen sink downstairs If you want to avoid walking all the way up after you use the restroom, just make sure you have soap down there. On the tub--Make sure you sit in the tub and spray (as instructed by a tiny nondescript side above the sink [which should probably be laminated and moved to the tub area]), or you will end up with a Very wet floor, and a very frustrated Pascal + his sister. All in all, a gorgeous place to rest and unplug, in between hanging out at all the castles. Just make sure you sit in the tub.

The overall experience was excellent. They both went out of their way to ensure we felt welcomed and had enough information so we could tour the region without any problems.
