My first time here and it was a great experience. We opted for outdoor seating, and there was an umbrella that mostly shaded us from the sun. Service was friendly and quick. I ordered the Avocado Toast and added an egg and a side of bacon. The bacon was crispy just the way I like it. There was plenty of fresh avocado on the toast, and it came with a delicious pesto. I also asked for a side of balsamic to drizzle on top, which was a great addition. I enjoyed everything and will definitely be back to try their dinner menu.

This refined restaurant is in the heart of Rancho Santa Fe at the Inn. The bar area and lobby are warm and welcoming. The sushi here is fantastic and deserves 5 stars. Many rolls use real crab meat. They are innovative and fresh rolls. The service was friendly but they could use just a few more staff members to help during busy times. Drinks took a while to come. The lobster pasta and scallops were perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The dishes were reasonably priced for a refined restaurant. The lamb chops were ok but everyone agreed they could use a bit more salt. Food and cocktails overall are great here and the restaurant is very nice.

We came here on a Tuesday for brunch, the day before Christmas Eve. It was pretty busy but we were only a party of two and fortunately were seated right away. We sat inside and the decor is beautiful and chic. We were guests at the hotel and had our dog with us, and they were very accommodating. The waiter brought him some water and was very patient with him (our dog is a bit anxious). I ordered Bloody Mary, extra spicy and it was pretty good and strong. We ordered a few things to share; the big-eye tuna pizza, roasted tomato soup, and fish tacos. The pizza isn't actually a pizza but thin pieces of tuna on top of bread. It was delicious. I loved the crispiness of the bread and tuna was fresh and light. The tomato soup came with a baguette grilled cheese and it was my favorite dish out of everything. So flavorful and tangy and paired perfectly with the grilled cheese. The fish tacos were alright. A little in the dry side unfortunately, but still tasted good. Service was great. Our waiter was super detailed in answering our questions and was also nice enough to split our soup and tacos into separate plates for us, since we were sharing (at not extra cost). Our food came out quickly and all the staff were friendly.

Came to this lovely establishment this past weekend to celebrate my dear friend's birthday. Seeing as it appeared as pet friendly we reserved patio seating. Staff were extremely courteous and pleasant the entire time. They brought out a water bowl for my dog, which was much appreciated. Although there were some stares from other customers, we had no complaints. Our food was spectacular and we look forward to returning to try the rest of the menu. I'd recommend this restaurant for birthdays or romantic dates and even just a regular Tuesday brunch or dinner. A versatile menu and drinks. 10/10 food and service.

Gorgeous, peaceful setting for brunch with a nice view. Food: 5/5 The crab salad was perfect, the crab tasted fresh and the salad was deliciously balanced. We did not order other items so can't speak on those yet! Drinks: 4/5 The lychee martini was good and had an adorable presentation. It wasn't very strong at all but tasted light and refreshing. Ambiance: 10/10 Lilian's is situated in the Inn at RSF, surrounded by a nicely manicured lawn and foliage. The setting is nice and peaceful, with a coastal touch. Parking: Unless you're staying at the Inn, parking can be found along the streets.

Completely empty restaurant except for my dad and husband. Table we asked for is right behind the table we were sitting at.

I wouldn't say I'm a regular at Lilian's but because its so close to home it was one of my favorite easy date night spots with my husband. The first time we went it was great! We sat by the fireplace, service was good, the food was great! We have been five or six more times and I feel like every time we go it somehow gets worse. They have been weird with us asking to move tables before which I sometimes ask to do because they keep it FREEZING inside and I don't like to sit right under a vent. They have very reluctantly moved us before, but I don't see why they're so weird about it. Today I asked to move tables so we could look outside. It was a beautiful evening and we were the only people in the restaurant so I didn't think it would be a big deal. The hostess told me no because they were saving the other tables for other reservations. No problem. I can understand that. EXCEPT 2.5 hours later, only a single other table came and they didn't sit at the other table I asked for. We stayed until 40 minutes before the restaurant closed and no one ever came for the table. It wouldn't have been a big deal to move us and I didn't like that the hostess just lied to our faces. And for what?? The table we asked for was less than a foot away from the original table they sat us at. Food was decent, but the whole time I was just waiting for the reservation to come in and no one ever did so it just made me irritated that the hostess couldn't be bothered to move us.

This is a beautiful spot for a date night. The decor gives French Riviera. Service was top notch! Loved the Mariscos Al Fuego (beautiful and delicious). Summer citrus salad was light and lovely. Veal Milanese was perfectly done and dressed with arugula and lemon. Husband loves the spaghetti lobster with the decadent cream sauce. Chocolate cake was unnecessary, but delicious. I do wish they did something special for if you're celebrating a special occasion. They didn't do anything. Also, it was hard for us to find the real parking (valet). We ended up parking where google maps told us where to go, which was at the back of the inn. Beautiful grounds and property so we didn't mind the walk

I had the pleasure of joining my friend for her baby shower here at Lilian's for Sunday brunch and overall I had a good experience. The vibe is elegant chic with a touch of charm. It's the perfect setting for a date, special occasion, or get together with friends. They have both indoor and outdoor dining. Major props to the young hostesses working that Sunday brunch hour. They were friendly, professional, and seated us immediately. They were also so kind about taking photos for our group. Our server was nice but we felt service was a bit slow at times and had to ask several times to get a refill on our drinks. The food was all fresh and tasty. We had a personalized prix fixe brunch menu and everyone enjoyed their meals. We ate it all :p There is valet parking right in front of the restaurant but also several free parking spots right across the street. Definitely a beautiful setting for brunch or lunch that's worth trying!

If you're looking for an elevated dining experience in San Diego without the stuffiness, Lillian's delivers across the board. I love it's historic charm and character. Let's talk food: I ordered the prime filet and it tasted great! The meat was very tender and had a really nice crust on it. It tasted buttery and went well with the sauces. My dining partner went with the striped bass, and I have to admit I had some serious entrée envy. The fish paired very well with the beans. They have hospitality on lockdown! Service was attentive without hovering, and our server had great recommendations. It's one of services I've had in California! If you're into quality ingredients, expert preparation, and a relaxed but refined atmosphere, Lillian's should absolutely be on your list.

Lilians is such a beautiful dining experience with amazing service. We tried a few plates and really enjoyed the seafood appetizer as well as the perfectly cooked steak.

Well, I haven't been back here except once since the remodel and change of ownership. I was here over a year ago and I was not happy. But I decided to try again and I was pleasantly surprised. They were having a birthday party in the bar so I dined outside where I wanted fresh air anyway. They changed all the roses and replace them with lavender bushes. The cocktails had a nice variety. I definitely do not recommend the breaded veal. But the scallops were literally the best I've ever had in my entire life! No metallic brine flavor after taste! My server made everything flow so easily. Really a great place when you just want to relax. I'd still remember the wild salmon carpaccio from a year and a half ago that was absolutely fantastic and completely changed my opinion of wild salmon. Very elegant, but also relaxed; this ambience is perfect for most occasions.

Some of the steak was extremely chewy as well. My friend said the hot honey chicken sandwich was good but there was a lot going on. I did take a bite of the molten butter cake while it was hot and fresh (I ordered it to-go) and the caramel really elevated the cake. Five stars for ambiance and service. The vibe here was smart casual. I did enjoy the aesthetic. Service was A+ with Emily. The manager came over a couple of times to make sure we were comfortable which was super sweet! They were absolutely delicious and loaded with lobster, topped with fresh avocado. *Rancho Burger: Easily one of the best burgers I've had. It was cooked perfectly, and we added Swiss cheese. Since my dog is allergic to chicken, they immediately apologized, took it back, and made a fresh beef version. The customer service was excellent, and my dog absolutely devoured it. The owner was present during our visit and was very kind and welcoming, which deserves real kudos. The staff was also attentive and on top of things throughout the meal. Service was not an issue at all. Where this stops short of five stars for me is the indoor dining experience. Even with a reservation, the seating felt very tight. Close enough that I could hear every single detail of the conversation happening at the table next to us. No judgment on them, but I did not need to be spiritually invited into their dinner party. Because it was a cool evening, outdoor seating wasn't really an option, which made the cramped indoor space more noticeable. This might be something to keep in mind during colder months. I could see this place being much more enjoyable when the patio is in play. That said, I did enjoy myself, and I'm not disappointed. I just think the combination of price point, cozy-but-tight seating, and comfort-food-forward menu didn't quite push it into five-star territory for me. And to be fair, I'm generally stingy with five stars. Four stars feels right. Beautiful space, kind ownership, attentive staff, and good food. The spritz was refreshing and well-balanced, and the margarita was just as good, not too sweet and really smooth. Definitely a great start to the night. The food was just as impressive. Everything came out surprisingly fast, especially considering how good it was. You can tell there's real attention to quality and flavor. The ambiance is another highlight. It has this relaxed, chill vibe but still feels put together and a little bit "cute" in the best way. It's the kind of place that works perfectly whether you're going on a date, catching up with friends, or just want a nice casual dinner without it feeling basic. Overall, great service, delicious food, quick turnaround, and a really enjoyable atmosphere. I'll definitely be coming back

I had to remind the waitress I hadn't gotten my drink and had to ask for the check at the end. The food was just okay. I got the Hot Chick chicken sandwich and my friend got the classic burger and we split them. Neither had much flavor, which really surprised me with the chicken sandwich as it's supposed to be Cajun spiced. We both paid the extra $4 to change the fries to truffle fries. That had the most flavor of anything.
