Sunshine No 1 - Beautiful glasswork

What a lovely shop! I'd been watching the progress of Sunshine No 1 via facebook, and was excited…read moreto pop in now that it's open. I actually visited by accident though as I was driving past and noticed it was open, so I popped in for a quick visit. This is a gift shop focussing on selling items made in the Glasgow/central belt area, which I think is a really lovely idea. I am forever buying presents for Aussies back home and it's always nice to be able to get something really local. I had a bit of a browse and saw at least 35 things I would love to own - there's really nice jewellery, mugs, felted animals, tote bags, candles, tea, prints, tea towels, cards and lampshades. There's stuff for babies but not too much stuff (sometimes nice gift shops get overrun with baby stuff!) - bibs etc. I picked up a little iron-on kit (see picture) for £5, there's matching badges to go with it too. Suzi who runs the shop is super sweet and welcoming, and will help you find whatever you need. She mentioned she is going to be hosting small classes (max 6 people at a time) in the shop - crochet, calligraphy, screen printing etc which I think is a great idea.

I can't believe I've not reviewed this wonderful wee shop! I love it :)…read more I'm a fan of all things crafty and gifty so I was very happy when this little spot popped up round the corner from my flat! Their motto is all about selling products created by local people around Glasgow and central Scotland. What a wonderful idea! It's a great wee shop for cards and gifts, there's some lovely hand crafted items. The stock changes all the time which is great, you never know what you'll find! I have a beautiful Glasgow skyline necklace the mr found in here. And the sell ovenbird coffee beans! Which was great to find out :) They also run classes and work shops some evenings, although I've not made it along to one, it looks like a lovely space to work in. And Suzi is lovely! I lost half an hour last time I popped in just browsing and chatting. :) just wish I was about when it's open more often!

I didn't know where to turn, so I rushed along to Marjorys Wool Shop to get a green thread repair kit. The shop assistant, I'm not sure if this was Marjory or not, was very helpful and showed me an array of green shades. I picked the perfect shade to match Pillie, made my purchase which was much cheaper than I'd expected and rushed back to begin the operation. Thankfully, the shop assistant had reminded me to buy needles too so I was ready to get stitching. The operation was a success, it took the patient a while to recover, but he's now in tip top shape, good as new! A great shop, and very popular too as there were a few other customers when I was there in my hour of need. Prices very reasonable and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. I have attached a picture of the patient in the operating theatre.

I'm not a knitter but I know a few and it certainly does seem to be having a strong come back in…read morethe fashion stakes. Subsequently, I feel this little place is worthy of a review. It has obviously been here for a while and not much has changed in this period. The rows of dated patterns posters remain proudly stuck up in the window along side some really sweet floral wreath (type things). Inside, you'll find a good selection of wool in an array of colours, thicknesses, qualities and price ranges. Meanwhile, the staff always seem friendly and helpful. Ideal for any knitting relating questions. My only reservation is that in the past few weeks I've not seen it open while passing on the bus. While, I'm more than happy to admit that this in itself is not unusual due to my 'out of office hours' schedule; I'm also slightly concerned that it may have closed down. Fear not, trusty yelpers. I shall investigate my suspicion further and update the review accordingly. Till then, if you happen to notice it's door wide, open and smiling then dive in for a look. It's well worth it and you'll appear ultra chic.
