The search was on to find a place to have a meal and in this town I am sure there was more places to eat but after a quick look around we found only this place that was open. Looked at their menu and not know Dutch, but able to pick out a few words I did know we went in and got a seat. We set outside under protected area. Nice comfortable weather to do this. Fairly soon we were presented with menus. I saw the word hamburger so this is what I ordered. I got a beer and water mis gas. The beer was good and was good to the last sip. Our food arrived and the presentation was good. I did not know the hamburger would have an egg on top but it did. I like eggs so this was fine just not expected. Actually with the fries that came with the meal there would of been enough fro two people. I enjoyed the meal and would eat there again if in the area. Europe is different than the states. In the states your bill comes as soon as they think you are finished. In Holland and the rest of Europe you must ask for the bill, you can sit there as long as you want. Never a rush to get you out. We had to ask for our bill three times. Not a problem as we did not have anywhere to go except back to a hotel room. If you get the chance eat there the people are very nice and helpful.

I was able to get a seat for myself in the quaint restaurant without waiting. I had an iced latte and the breakfast of champions. My plate was charcuterie style, with a mixture of things presented on a cutting board. I am not a big fan of bread in general so I should've asked to sub for something else. The portion was closer to the smaller side, but enough for me. Everything was fresh but quite bland. The bacon was too crispy for my liking and the bread wasn't toasted. I did enjoy my coffee and ended up coming back another day to grab one to go. I will give this place another shot when I am back in Rotterdam.

to enter this restaurant, you have to walk through a dresser like narnia…read more upon entering the space, it has very kitschy and whimsical decor- just looking around is so interesting to do. the space this restaurant is in definitely used to be a house, there are several different rooms to dine in, each with different decor and lighting. the interior feels so homey and cozy but also quirky and fun. the burrata and caponata was DELICIOUS, it was my first time having caponata and the combo was addictive. this was so refreshing and tasty and the burrata was so yummy with a tiny sprinkle of salt. such a delicious lunch! we also shared the cheese platter appetizer which was just local cheese and cornichons, super yummy little app. and the local cheese was delicious! it tasted kinda like a funky parmesan. the service was alright, we did ask for more water a couple times and never received it, but the restaurant was super busy so it's a bit understandable. this place was a really awesome and one of a kind lunch spot, i'm very happy we got to check it out during our trip to leiden!

Just had a simple burger and a plate of fries for not so much money. And although it was a simple…read moremeal I had a delicious meal! My friend had the schnitzel and it was really big. He couldn't even finish his plate of fries, (and he is a big eater so that was really a good sign). We sat in the part where the roof could also be open, but it's winter time so it's closed. The couches we're quite hard for sitting on them for a long time. There also was a fire decoration on every table that really heated up the room and created a nice vibe inside the restaurant itself. Definitely worth another visit!
