Just got back from one month in Naples. Needed a clean place to stay for a good price because of the duration. I did a lot of searching and this B&B was the one! B&B Lindo is great. The owner Giovanni was very, very helpful in getting me situated and pointed in the right direction. The room was clean and efficient, had my own bathroom/shower and no problems at all for the thirty days I stayed there. I was at Enzo Coccia's La Notizia school learning Neapolitano pizza making. Long hard days and the B&B was a nice place to crash and regroup before I headed out into the city see beautiful Naples. The B&B is located in Fuorigrotta, which reminded me of Queens NY, back in the day. A lot of graffiti, very busy, cars all over, people everywhere etc. but I never experienced a problem or felt like I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. If you are looking for comfort and amenities, go to a hotel and pay the extra it will cost you. If you are looking for a good clean place, in a secure building where you will crash after a long day of discovering Naples, this is it. It's even better that it is not in a touristy section so you can really get a feel of everyday Naples and its people. There may have been a few shy people, or a few who didn't speak English and they were not as friendly, but mainly because they were not comfortable in talking to you. Most everyone was friendly and helpful if they could be. Inside this secure building is a reception area and Alphonso, a great guy ready to greet you coming and going. It's all marble and wood, nice place. There is a room with a kitchen for probably more money, but there is so much food outside, and cheap, that you can eat like a king. Plenty of shops, markets, stores right outside the building. Too many pizzeria's to count, a barbershop, gelato, pharmacy, ATM machines, TIM sim cards for your phone, Tabacchi store to get bus tickets. There is a metro (subway) right down the block, a train (above ground) a little further and bus stations three minutes away that will take you through the tunnel and over to Posillipo by the water in five minutes, or go further down the line to Piazza Vittoria by the castle out in the water, or walk opposite the sea into the city for all the shopping and eating you want. All for a 1.20 euro fare. The cumana metro will take you to Montesanto, very central to the touristy Spaccanapoli, Dante square, via Toledo or jump on the Funicular inside the station and go up the hill to the more affluent Vomero district or shoot over to Saint Elmo's Castle for a panoramic view of the entire city. A little further walk and you are at the Leopardi train station that takes you into Central Station Napoli where you can get a bus or a train to most anywhere in Italy. From there go to Pompei, Sorrento or Almafi Coast. B&B Lindo is well placed and is a good price, the nieghborhood is not the cleanest, but its safe enough. The football stadium is right down the block and there is much shopping and eating if you like right down the block. Its a good call for a clean and reasonably priced place that is close by all the transportation you need. read more
