Its greatest use to the community are the rooms for rent from small conference rooms to the large (Community Room, Council Chambers). The larger facilities can hold about 50 guests, and it's a beautiful facility. City Hall is the best place to go for voting ... I went in there at noon on a Tuesday (but not in a Sheryl Crow way!) and there was no line. It's a multi- purpose facility, holding both the City administration and the Police Department, so don't make a wrong turn! ;)

You'll immediately notice that it shares the property with a public elementary school. They use the gym during the day, but the weight room and track upstairs is available to the residents all day. Another thing you'll quickly notice is the lack of parking. They recently changed the entry procedures to allow visitors to enter the back door where the parking lot is. You used to have to walk around the building-which was rather painful in the winter since you have to walk through a muddy field. The facilities inside are adequate. You'll find the basic workout machines, weights, treadmills, etc. It can get busy during peak times or seasons, but people are usually pretty friendly and willing to take turns. There are also group fitness classes-they rotate schedules each quarter and offer the first week free so you can try them out. You can buy a pass or do a drop in class occasionally. Childcare is also available for an additional fee. Watch the LiveDaybreak website or social media to see what activities will be held here. While there are many activities throughout the year, only a handful are held at the community center. But when they are, you'll want to plan accordingly as the gym will likely be closed.

The Unity Center is a community gathering place. There are fitness classes, a gym, classes and cultural celebrations. I hear there are even medical and dental services for under-insured people. I go there for the Sunday morning Zumba. Lupe, the instructor, is phenomenal. I have never felt so warmly welcomed and not judged at all. The ladies in the class ere also quite welcoming and have been going there for a long time. And at $4.50 a class, it's a steal.

The intermediate/advanced class is from 7pm-8pm. The cost is $15 dollars per month. The instructor's name is Paco, and he is patient and a very good teacher. He is assisted by some of the upper level students. My kids love it- the class really pushes them because it incorporates exercise, stretching, tae kwon doe forms, self-defense, and board breaking. It makes my two sons feel confident, and also helps them to set goals. Paco (the instructor) emphasizes that the purpose of the class isn't to just "get belts". He invites the kids to consider the merit of what they are working towards. I have been going there for a year and a half with my kids, and I give this program and it's instructor my highest recommendation.
