    Starting the Lindt self-guided tour
    Karen V.

This is an absolute MUST when in Zurich! The "Home of Chocolate" experience is done so well. It's even cool to see the exterior of the old factory before entering the building. It's makes it so real. They even named the plaza in front of the building "Schokoladenplatz 1" for #1 Chocolate Square. Very creative! This chocolate experience was absolutely awesome! The huge Lindt chocolate flowing sculpture greets you at the entrance. There is a café full of all kinds of chocolate creations, a factory store, and the chocolate museum. The main attraction is the museum that goes through the history & making of Lindt Chocolates. There are many interactive displays as well as samples along the way. The chocolate fountain is set up with individually wrapped spoons so that you can sample each chocolate (white, milk, and dark chocolate). Yes, they are meant to be thrown away after each use. There are tissues and hand sanitizer stations set up all around this experience. It's clean, and it's SO MUCH FUN! There was also an area with automated dispensing machines that drop various flavors of chocolate squares into your hand. It was amazing just seeing everyone (young and old) enjoying them. I didn't see a sad face in the house. There were smiles everywhere. Ah, but the best part was getting the Lindor truffles at the end. You get one of each flavor. I don't remember the exact number of flavors, but it was somewhere between 6 and 8. I'd have to say that the raspberry one was my favorite. The ladies dressed as patisserie chefs were genuinely happy to be there. I think they enjoy interacting with all the happy customers. But wait... there's more. On the other side of the top floor is a showcase of the factory equipment with informational displays. That's if you want to see the technical side of it. They present everything so well here. If that's not enough, then you must walk through the factory store. There's another sample awaiting you as you enter the shop. There are chocolate flavors that I have never seen in the states. The Dubai Style Chocolate caught my eye. It's on display all over Switzerland to include the DF shop at the airport. That's just something to be aware of for last minute purchases. By the way, it's absolutely delicious! It's a thinner layer of filling in the bar, but the Lindt milk chocolate really makes a difference in the taste. There is also a truffle shaped version of it that has more filling than chocolate. I normally prefer dark chocolate with that pistachio cream filling. I was surprised to find that I'm actually loving this brand of milk chocolate in the Dubai Style version. It's very addicting. So, yes it is totally worth a special trip. I'd do it all over again. Be sure to add this stop to your itinerary. It's a chocolate lover's dream!

We toured the Lindt Factory where you get lots of chocolate samples along the way. On the self guided tour you dive in to the history of chocolate & the process of how to make it. It is such a fun interactive tour that everyone should do while there. At the end of the tour stop by the shop to check out all the flavors & different items you can buy there. It's a great present for yourself or to bring for others.

The most impressive thing at the museum was the chocolate fountain, which is the world's largest. Using an audio guide, the museum takes the visitor through the history of chocolate and the chocolate industry. There was a liquid chocolate station, samples of bars, and a truffle station. Then of course there is the gift shop where I refrained from buying much. I did get a small Dubai chocolate though. Overall, I felt like this tour is a way to get people to spend more money on their chocolates. Book tickets in advance if you feel the need to go.

A shake in the cafe after the tour

Date of visit: May 24, 2025 Hard to believe that they only decided to start a tour just five years ago, as this was a very popular destination in Zurich. Relatively easy to get to from the train, we enjoyed the tour but it could use some improvements. Starting with the evolution of chocolate and those who make it was a very nice touch, acknowledging that without folks that are clearly not Swiss, there would be no Swiss chocolate. The audio tour has some very interesting information, and the Bluetooth functionality was a nice way to deliver the message. However, I struggled to determine if I should be reading the text in the various rooms or listening to the audio first. After a while, it seemed that both were sharing different information which meant that I needed to do both and that meant that I was blocking signs and displays for twice as long. Ideally, the audio should include everything that is written to keep things moving. While there is timed entry, the place gets very busy and makes it hard to see all of the things that may interest you as the exhibit transitions to the history of chocolate around the world before zeroing in on those that made the area famous for their chocolate, with names like Lindt, Nestle, and Tobler bandied about. Things finish with a fascinating tasting room, where you can sample pure dark, milk, and white chocolate on tasting spoons (tip: mix the white and dark on the same spoon for an epic taste), but I was shocked at these one-time use plastic spoons and shudder at the thought of the thousands of spoons going to a landfill each day. There are also some interactive elements sprinkled throughout the tour, though I would have preferred more. Things end with the sample room where you can help yourself to one of seven different flavors of their famous truffles, though trying to hold seven in your hands at once has a way of making one feel greedy... All told, this is a fascinating tour that is well done, but could be improved with better traffic flow, an enhanced audio tour, and a more sustainable tasting room.

Such a wonderful experience. It's an absolute must when you're in Zurich (especially if it's a rainy day). I was unable to book online, so I went directly to the museum and bought the next availability tickets, which was 2.5 hrs from when I arrived. The audio guide tour had incredible information about the history of chocolate in Switzerland. You were also able to try / taste the chocolate and get a number of samples before buying all of the chocolate before you leave! They have a cafe and lockers for your belongings. I really enjoyed my experience and highly recommend a visit.

This is an absolute MUST visit on your next trip to Zurich! We booked our tickets months in advance because we had heard about the Lindt Chocolate Factory, and I'm glad we did as they do fill up in advance. We easily took the train here and it's a short 7-10 minute walk from the station. We loved our visit so much that we stopped by a second time before we left Zurich. On arrival, we were mesmerized by the beautiful chocolate fountain and of course, stopped for our photo. We did our tour next and learned so much about the chocolate making process and enjoyed trying some delicious chocolate samples. Midway through the tour, there's an opportunity for blind taste tests which were really neat. At the end of the tour we were able to try one of each chocolate truffle flavor. We stopped by the gift shop to load up on unique chocolate flavors that we can't get in the U.S. Finally, we stopped by the cafe! You place your order in line and the servers are very quick. It has a nice open concept connecting to the outdoors so you can take your yummy eats inside or outside. We tried a frozen hot chocolate, regular hot chocolate, and panini. The frozen hot chocolate was delicious and perfect for a hot day outside. You can still get the delicious Lindt chocolate taste while cooling off. However, the regular hot chocolate was the star of the meal. It is so rich and decadent and pairs so well with the whipped cream! The hot panini is a nice option for lunch - crunchy and with some nice light flavoring. If I'm ever in Zurich again I will certainly be back!

    Birthday Cake Truffle
    Travis B.

Birthday Cake Truffles: Swiss chocolatier Lindt has been crafting and perfecting their chocolate for over 150 years (since 1845). One of their newer creations (2023) are these white chocolate truffles with birthday cake flavor. The outer shell is comprised of a smooth and creamy white chocolate, while the equally smooth core is a birthday cake flavored melty truffle. I won't conceal my thoughts about these truffles like a meticulously wrapped birthday present; they are phenomenal (or maybe I should say they take the cake?)! Apart from being ridiculously smooth and creamy, the flavor is without a doubt, birthday cake. Imagine eating a spoonful of buttercream frosting, but in solid/chocolate form. Not only is this Doughboy approved, but it's my new favorite Lindt Truffle. My Favorite Lindt Truffles: 1. Birthday Cake 2. Milk with White Chocolate 3. Milk Chocolate 4. Visited the Lindt Home of Chocolate back in March 2023 and honestly, it's a must-do if you're in Zurich . The tour itself is really well done--you get to see how chocolate is made from the cocoa bean, learn about Lindt's work in supporting cocoa-growing communities, and of course, enjoy plenty of free samples along the way (photos attached!). There are fun interactive sections too, and I even joined the chocolate bar-making class, which was the highlight of the visit. I actually went on my birthday, and honestly, couldn't have picked a sweeter way to celebrate! Ratings: Experience & Learning: 5/5 Fun & Activities: 5/5 Worth the Visit: 5/5

While in Zurich, my daughter insisted that we go to the Lindt Chocolate Factory Tour. It is a very nice tour and we enjoyed it, but as an adult with an adult daughter, thought it was a nice addition to our trip and definitely worth doing if you have time, but I don't consider it a must do unless you have young children. You do need to book tickets far in advance online, as I believe tour operators buy group tickets limiting access, as my daughter was only able to book tickets on a Tuesday at 2 pm 3-4 weeks in advance, which was not the most convenient timing. It is primarily a self guided tour and about an hour long.

If it's your first time in Zurich, the Lindt Home of Chocolate is a must-do! Tons of history and information but the best part is all the chocolate samples. Because it's such a popular tourist stop, you should definitely buy your tickets ahead of time. When I was researching this place, the website would always say they were sold out for the day. Tickets are timed entry and you have a 30 minute grace period if you're running late. If you have a lot of stuff with you or coming from the airport, there's actually free lockers and a luggage room. We took the bus from Zurich and the chocolate museum has their own bus stop. Once you get off, just follow the street signs to the museum. Connected to the museum are the chocolate shop and the chocolate café, which don't require a ticket for entry. If you already have your ticket, you can walk straight to the center, marvel at the chocolate fountain, and grab a free audio guide to the right. There are no earphones so you just hold it up to your ear to listen. If you're an avid fan of history, then this is the perfect museum because there are so many opportunities to learn about the chocolate process. So much that it was too much for me and I just found myself skipping to the samples. There was just too much information and each audio stop was a traffic jam of people standing and listening to the guide. There are a couple of interactive exhibits in the middle so that would be great for the kids. And then at the end, you get to the chocolate samples. At first, there are dispensers of melted milk, white, and dark chocolate. After that, there's more dispensers of chocolate blocks of various flavors. Then free samples of Lindt Lindor, where a worker hands those out to ensure people aren't just grabbing handfuls. And finally at the end, an interactive exhibit per paid ticket to get a free Lindt Square. The line for this is usually long so if you don't want to wait, there's also a worker that'll just give you the Square instead. If you're hungry, stop by the café for snacks and hot chocolate. They even have alcoholic drinks too! And there's tons of chocolate souvenirs you can buy at the shop. This was a great start to the day and would recommend visiting at least once!

A must visit for one of the iconic chocolate brands in Switzerland! Be prepared for lots of samples and fun exhibits! We took public transit on bus, and the stop is right across from the Factory. If you're taking an Uber, make sure they drop you off where all the other charter buses are! You start off the tour with some historical content, with the process of making of chocolate and origins, where then you're led into the barrage of samples which was obviously a favorite part for many of us! There's melted chocolate samples, chocolate square samples, and a ton of individually packaged chocolates waiting for you at the end! The chocolate doesn't stop there - make sure you checkout their shop where there are a ton of limited and specialty flavors in stock! They even have a make-your-own bark station! After you're done shopping for your souvenirs, hop on over to the cafe where they have delicious concoctions, including boozy hot chocolate! A super fun time for all of us, and something I'd recommend any visitor to experience!

What a fun tour! Lots of chocolate with a fun atmosphere. Very educational on the production of chocolate and it's history. You will leave with plenty of chocolate and a smile

I'm not huge on chocolate, but I still couldn't miss out on checking out Lindt Home of Chocolate during our trip to Switzerland! There is a self-guided tour with audio devices which can be configured to your language of preference. Plenty of detailed information on the entire process of making chocolate starting from the cocoa plant, as well as some cool history on the commercialization process. Lots of chocolate samples throughout the entire experience! Bring a bag because they will give more chocolate than you can finish. Additional chocolate available for purchase at the shop afterwards, and even a cafe with food as well as various chocolate drinks! Overall, a fun experience and great place to pick up some edible gifts to bring back home!

Yelp Review 2026 #96:…read more I went to Laderach in different cities everyday while I was in Switzerland. This location is in Luzern Bahnhof and it's actually better than the location in Zürich Bahnhof. They have more selections here. There were two Frisch schoggi kinds I was trying to get but didn't find while in Zürich: Dubai chocolate, and vegan cashew. My favorite Frisch schoggi slabs I get all the time are vegan cashew (tastes and melts just like regular chocolate), hazelnut, and cornflakes. Add their Dubai chocolate to that list - you won't find it at all Laderach locations though. They have limited/ seasonal Frisch schoggi. In May, they had banana split. It's delicious so, I got a slab of that too. I got some truffles and mini mousses. I grabbed individually-wrapped chocolates for my friends. On my first day in Luzern, I went to this location twice. I first came here in the morning before going to the hotel. I was minding my own business taking pictures of the chocolates. The employee behind the counter was like "don't a picture of me". Girl, I have no reason to take your picture! I left. I came back in the afternoon for my chocolate break and that employee wasn't there anymore. I took pictures and the afternoon shift employee wasn't giving me samples left and right and was super nice and helpful. So, I bought chocolates from her.

Yelp Review 2026 #109:…read more Max Chocolatier is one of my favorites. They started here in Luzern so, I had to grab more chocolates here. This is a much bigger store than the one in Zurich. They have two employees here and they both will take their time for each customer in the store. Clearly, they want everyone to have the best and most focused experience while in the store and I appreciate that so much. It shows how much they care about the product even though the product speak for themselves. They'll give you free samples of whatever you want to try. They recommended their mate (South. American drink) truffle which I would not try on my own and I'm glad they did because I absolutely loved it and bought some. I had a clear plan on what I want to get from here: a box of passionfruit dragee, a box of pralines and a few truffles. I like how they put the truffles in a box. Most chocolatiers don't have boxes for when you pick your own truffles. You can pick a message tag for your chocolate boxes. There's many to choose from - in English, German and French. Since all the boxes I bought are for me and my sister, I picked message tags that resonated with me such as "I love dich". They also have blank tags if you want to write your own message. They have a coffee kiosk on front but it closes earlier than the store. They have espresso, cortado, cappuccino, latte, matcha, hot chocolate, etc. If you have time and want to create your own chocolate bar, go to their studio across the lake. You have to book your appointment though and prepay.

From the moment you walk in, it's honestly chocolate overload (in the best way possible, obvs). We started with the museum, which was so cool and way more interactive than I expected. You get to learn about the history of Lindt and how their chocolate is made, and you can actually taste chocolate at different stages of the process. Seeing how everything comes together and getting to experience it hands-on made it really fun and memorable. At the end of the museum tour, they let you try a selection of their truffles and popular flavors, which was such a nice touch. After that, we had some time before our Champagne Truffles class, which ended up being one of the highlights of the entire trip!!! It was such a fun and magical experience. The woman leading our group was hilarious, engaging, and made the whole class feel relaxed and enjoyable. Wish I could remember her name because she was so FUN! We actually got to make Lindt chocolates inside the factory, which was so cool. We packaged them ourselves and got to take them home, and it was really special being able to enjoy them throughout the rest of our trip knowing we made them ourselves. The gift shop is dangerous in the best way... chocolate everywhere. I was able to pick up treats for everyone back home, and there were so many flavors I had never seen before, which made it even more fun.
