Eastwood Park Theatre - Ginger Wildheart!

My friend was in a production before Christmas so I thought it was a good opportunity to go - The Edibles, a show for 3-7 year olds. No, I don't fall in that age range but it was a fun outing all the same (and only 45 minutes, perfect for my short attention span!). The theatre is bigger than I expected and generally pretty pleasant. Entry is up the stairs and in the foyer area there was an exhibition on of artwork which I'll have to return to check out another time. There is a cafe downstairs in the main foyer which has good selection of snacks and nibbles but I think it is mostly pre-made, bought-in food rather than being made fresh there. I picked up a brochure for upcoming productions and was impressed to see the wide range of stuff they have on - movies, ballet as well as other theatre productions. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on what's on in future months as this makes a great spot to visit if you're a local.

It was my first time here and I didn't get much time before the show to absorb anything worth reviewing so excuse the vague comments below. I'm coming again in January for another panto so I'll have more info soon! This theatre is only a few minutes drive from Giffnock train station. It's quite a small theatre in comparison to the others that I've been to in Glasgow but I don't mean that in a negative way as I think it's quite cosy and you don't need to strain to hear the actors.

There was a small queue to get in but it went down quite quick and then we were free to wander along at our own pace. It was so nice to see the park all lit up at night and i was very impressed with how everything was organised. The waterfall was really impressive and i especially loved the lights along the walkway. There were loads of attendents dotted around the park to help out and guide us along. It was a lovely way to spend an evening so thanks Yelp for the opportunity! :) Photo credit to Sarah T as silly me left my phone in the car!

It was quite easy to find a parking spot nearby, so even if we didn't leave ourselves too much time to arrive before 8:30 (when the entrance closes), we could manage to get in. The route itself is clearly marked and there are a lot of helpers who will guide you if you need their assistance. The first thing you will see is a small island in the centre of the boating lake, the lights changing with the music - and little do you know that you will be able to change the lights and music by the end of the trip. The rest of the tour is divided into different sections, each telling you interesting facts about the past or the present of the park, or displaying interesting pieces of light art beamed onto the trees, the river, the waterfall, the rocks, the ground, and music playing. All told, this is a charming performance, very close to my idea of the perfect first date - well, I am past that for this life already, but I brought the right person to share this experience with me, even if a little belated. Oh yes, in case you feel like, you can buy food and drinks along and at the end of the route - this I did not do so I cannot tell you anything useful about it - next time when I am less enchanted I may post an update.

I wasn't all that excited for Cineworld opening at Silverburn, I'll be honest. The last time I went…read moreto the movies was June 2014 and it's just not something I ever think of doing, even when it's a movie I like the sound of. I also don't get to Silverburn very often even though I live nearby because of two reasons - 1 the horrendous parking situation; and 2 all the people. So I really wanted to see The Martian as I loved the book so much, and this week is the last week they're showing it. We booked online and collected our tickets when we arrived although note that you can't scan an iPhone 6 Plus screen to collect them as the screen is too big. Ha. The cinema foyer is pretty small, just has a candy bar bit and a Starbucks and toilets but that's fine by me. The actual cinema we were in (6) was a wee one, with only about 10 rows of seats. It was great though as it was only about half full and everyone there was my kind of movie goer - silent and well behaved. There is loads of legroom and it was pretty damn comfy for a 2+ hour movie. It's about £9 each booking online which isn't too bad really. I'll definitely be back!

In addition to the food and drink you have the cinema itself it's brand new so you get comfy seats great view large screens and great sound system. While we are on the subject of screens these guys have a super screen one of the first in the UK and this thing is massive it does cost a premium but is worth it for the right movie. Other than that they show the usual selection of 2d and 3d movies at the great cineworld unlimited card rates. You really can't complaint. So settle down for a coffee/beer/soft drink serve up the popcorn and enjoy a movie in Glasgow newest cinema.
