This park was established in 1940 and has everything you would want in a park. It is only 18 acres, but they packed a lot in the 18 acres. It is managed by the Zionsville Lions Club and looks like a park that keeps adding on. It has three playground areas. The playground area in the back of the park is the newest. It is geared towards younger kids and has a bank of swings, a small mock store and a small jungle gym with a tiny slide. It is lined with a rubbery surface and is mud free. The two up front are more traditional. One side you will find a small, but newer jungle gym with 2 slides, a larger jungle gym with 2 slides, 3 see-saws, a curved balance beams, a couple of sit and spins, a tire swing, a special needs and toddle swing, a dino-monkey bar set, and a pebble bridge. Across from this area is where you will find the third playground area which has a bank of traditional swings, an awesome saucer merry-go-round, a little house, a large jungle gym, and two see-saws. You will also see a little rocker animal and a small dino-monkey bar set over there too. Both of those playground areas are lined with wood chips and they have picnic tables placed along their perimeters. The park has 9 awesome baseball fields two lighted full basketball courts (different sizes though for some reason) and two lighted tennis courts and a pickle ball court. The courts are well maintained and look great. The park offers some scenic walking/jogging along its running trail and has a picturesque gazebo as its center piece. I saw one picnic shelter there, near the creek, that can be rented and a bathroom facility near the traditional playground areas. There is also a sand volleyball court along the creek by the shelter. The 1.1 mile Eagle Creek Walk runs through this park and the park has its own paved pathway that connects to it. The park has been known to host the city's EGGnormous Egg Hunt on the Saturday before Easter, the 4th of July Fireworks, the Sunday Concert Series in July, and the Pumpkins & Hayrides event. This park is actually one that you would drive to come to. It has a lot to offer and has something for everyone. Dogs are welcome, but have to remain on a leash. It is a gorgeous park with the gazebo, bridges and running along Eagle Creek. They have a large parking lot and every amenity that a park can have. This is definitely worth checking out.

For twenty five years I've been enjoying special events at Lions Park. The park is maintained by the local chapter of the Lions Club. The best event is the Fourth of July fireworks. The park fills early with families waiting to see the best fireworks in Boone County. I brought my kids when they were small. The park offers events throughout the year. Festivals, carnivals, softball and baseball leagues. There is a play ground with infrastructure that is updated regularly. There are 4 or 5 ball fields that fill up in the spring. There is a nice bridge and hiking trail on both sides of the park bordered by Little Eagle Creek. The trail is great for walking dogs or taking a stroll. There is a grand gazebo that features concerts in the fall. There are a couple sets of restrooms and a concession stand but they have never been open on my visits. In the winter the Boy Scouts sell Christmas trees in the parking lot. The trees are traditional favorites. There are basketball courts in the back. Also there is a covered picnic shelter that can be reserved and used for private parties. The park floods about once a year. It's kind of fun to watch the park flooded. They seem to handle water well. There is a parking lot which fills for special events early.

Small shaded playground best for the under 5 crowd

If you are in Zionsville be sure to stop by Lions Park to play. In the northwest corner there is a small, very shaded playground perfect for the under 5 crowd. It had opportunities for climbing, pretending and of course swinging. It is the perfect spot with little kids on a hot summer day because of the ample shade that is a rare find on a playground. One playground bridge was closed for repairs as of June 2019. Other equipment in this area was in working condition, though could use a little sprucing up. There is a large paved path that runs from this small playground to the larger ones, perfect for kids to ride a bike. Also next to the little playground are basketball courts if you have a large age range of kids and the older ones don't want to play on the little kid playground. The larger main playground is mostly in the sun but has shaded areas around the perimeter complete with benches and/or picnic tables for grown ups to sit. On the morning we were there a group of kids was using a wooden playhouse as a pretend ice cream shop. There were a few options for kids to spin, climb, slide and swing. Lots of picnic tables in the shade. Not sure on what the bathroom situation is as we didn't need them this time. There are several baseball fields in the park so I'm not sure how parking or crowd levels would be on a weekend, but for a weekday morning it was perfect.

AMAZING park! People with children can rejoice: There is so much to do and see here, your little ones won't be bored. I didn't venture much beyond the three (yes, three!) playgrounds, but there is a walking path and other sights to see. Lion's Park has all the playground equipment and jungle gym fun you expect from any park, but it also has a six-person merry-go-round, a four-person teeter totter, a climbing structure shaped like a dinosaur, and a lion water fountain! It's so neat. Plus, there is a tennis court, basketball courts, baseball field and so, so many picnic benches. This is an awesome park!

There is a lot to enjoy at Lion's Park. First, it has a great location that is easy to get to from either the south or east side of town, located near the old Zionsville downtown. Although the park is quite a bit lower than street level (it is near Eagle Creek), the city has built a really impressive stair/ramp system to allow folks to be connected to the shops in old downtown. The ramps have a manageable slope as they zigzag first to the south then back again to the middle halfway up, continue to the north and return to the middle at the top. Great planning! Between the baseball parks, there is a central gathering point which features a gazebo, lots of playground equipment, and what appears to be a concession stand (I went in March, so it wasn't open). Beyond the central area, there are other amenities (I didn't go through the entire park but could see basketball courts. What I didn't see were any shelters where you could rent for a family picnic/gathering. Not sure if I missed them, but they weren't apparent from the center of the park. There is a large parking lot on the south end of the park. As with any low lying property at creekside, I can imagine you need to watch the weather if you are planning on hiking around here after heavy rains (the last major flooding was in 2013). The trails are paved for conservation purposes, hoping that hikers will stay on them. The park is not part of the city's park system, but ran independently by the Lion's Club. Still, it is a welcome addition to the areas green spaces. Review #710

This park has lots of space! 3 different play structures, basketball court, tennis court, baseball fields, picnic tables, and restrooms. The two bigger playgrounds are up front by the restrooms or you can walk the path down to the separate toddler area. It all gives lots of space for kids to play when it gets crowded, not to mention you can take across the street to get treats.

After seeing all of the great reviews, I was pretty excited to take the 2nd grader and 5th grader that I babysit here to check it out. I was hoping for a place to hang out for a couple of hours, but we were all pretty disappointed. It is a great park but I think it may just be better for younger kids. The park has baseball diamonds, basketball courts, and tennis courts. Everything seemed to be well taken care of and clean. There is also a variety of different benches and tables -- in and out of the shade. The playground area is pretty cool and has more than your typical playground equipment. There's spinning things the kids can sit in, multi person teeter totters, and many different things to climb and swing on. The thing I noticed -- everything is pretty small. Even their tallest slide is on the short side. Good for younger kids, but my kids were bored pretty quickly. The park is set up like a big square with paved walking and bike paths along the outside. There is a smaller playground geared for toddlers. We walked the perimeter but there wasn't too much to look at, even though it goes right up to Eagle Creek. There were also several bathrooms. I can't deny it was a nice and well taken care of park, but for the specific kids that I was with, it was not among their favorite parks.

So easy to forget this gorgeous park when your dining or shopping on Main Street if you don't live here. Nice walking trails, playground, ball diamonds, picnic facility and shelter and even tennis courts. Great place to be active or just sit and enjoy the day. Picinic tables on street level or park level so I've brought lunch in the past to enjoy the sunshine.

    Enjoying it

This park is awesome. Great for all ages. Many different types of playing areas including a separate section for smaller children and a larger selection for others. Three separate bathrooms and a water fountain too keep you hydrated all day. This park also includes a full trail to walk, bike or run. Close to Main Street and all the shops with The scoop across the street.

It is a very modern park that is lined with the rubbery surface that most of the new parks are using. It has a half basketball court with an adjustable rim. The court is in great shape and has a bench along the baseline for spectators to sit and watch. You will find a very nice paved walking/jogging trail that goes around the perimeter of the park, as well as trails leading to the park from nearby neighborhoods. The bathroom facility at the park is very well maintained and is one of the better ones that I have seen in a park. They serviced the restrooms and trash while I was there. The park has two picnic shelters with tables under it and one has a couple of grills just outside of it. The playground is awesome. It has top-notch modern equipment. One side of the playground area has a very nice large jungle gym with a couple of slides, one of which is a spiral slide. There is also a bank of swings with traditional and ADA swings, a spinning net sphere, a pull up bar, and an interactive light game. This side is intended for 5 and older, but my 3 year old spent most of his time over here. On the other side is play equipment for smaller kids. There is a bank of toddler swings, a small jungle gym with a tunnel and slides, a couple of see-saws, a modern merry-go-round, and an expression swing. In between both area is some picnic tables and percussion musical instruments. Both play areas have benches on one side of it for parents to sit and on the other side (outer perimeter) are some workout equipment between some more benches, under a nice shade bearing awning. The workout equipment is intended for those over 14 years old. The equipment happens to face the respective playgrounds, so parents can get their workout on while keeping an eye on their littles. On final feature of the park is its green space. There is a patch of grass that can be used for playing catch, soccer, football, or flying a kite. It can also be used for working out or having a picnic. The only downfall of this space is that it is like in like a little crater. So, it gets very soggy after rain and snowfall and takes a while to dry. I really like this park. My littles and I spent about 2 hours here. It is not very big, spanning 5 acres, but still has a lot to do. This is definitely a destination park and was well worth the 40 minute ride for me to get here.

It is 38 acres and used to be a farmstead before being purchased by the city in 2003. The original farmstead is still being used for educational programs and is managed by Maplelawn Farmstead, Inc. There is tons of parking here spread across three sections. One near the front and skate park. The other, in the center, near the prairie, and the other near the back pavilions, playground and splash pad. This park has about 3 picnic shelters with picnic tables under it and grills right outside of it. There is a decent full court basketball court there. It is in pretty good shape. The park also features a pretty nice splash pad, however, it was closed for the season during my visit. It has a bunch of colorful spray structures and benches along the fence that parents can sit on and watch their kids splash around. The playground is lined with wood chips and has more of your traditional equipment. The equipment is in excellent shape and includes a small jungle gym, rock climbing walls, monkey bars, a bank of swings with a couple of traditional swings, toddler swings and ADA swings, a small jungle gym with slides, and a set of pebble path pods. The play ground is fenced in to keep the little ones from running off and has benches along the inside perimeter of the fence to sit. The bathroom facility is right between the splash pad and playground area. It is nice as far as bathrooms goes and is connected to a picnic shelter on the side and has an uncovered patio area with picnic tables in front of it. Your will see green space for days here. A large portion of which is lighted. It is well maintained and is multi-purpose. It can be used for most any outdoor activity including a picnic, football, soccer, playing catch, field hockey, or flying a kite. Right behind the green space is a monster hill. I saw people using it to work out while I was there, more power to them. It would make for some awesome sledding after a snow. Near the front of the park is a skate park. It is small but nice. No bike allowed, only boards. They have a small maze like fence that is made to try to prevent people from bringing bike in. Some of the stuff in the park includes a pool, stairs, rails, ramps, and other stuff that I have no idea what they are. The walking trail here is a 1 mile loop and is one of the better trails that I have been on. It is well maintained and can be used for running, jogging or walking the dog. It goes around the park's green space and hill. This is a very nice Zionsville Park. It checks all the boxes of what you would want in a park. I like this park a lot.
