Naturally we had to visit one of their facilities on this trip, and he planned our drive around Gold Coast to visit the original taproom. It was a weekend afternoon so it was super quiet, just one other customer. The bartender was immediately welcoming and eager to talk and pour. It's a smaller location in a commercial plaza, with open doors and two sections: the bar and a few tables, and an event area with barrels and tables. They had a big selection of to-go beer as well. I had a flight of favorite styles and wasn't disappointed in any of them. Great quality and selection overall. If you're a beer fan and vacationing in Gold Coast, this is a must visit. I had schooners of FigJam , excellent 7% IPA, the Duke Helles, a German Lager around 3.5 % and the 28 Pale, a Mid strength pale Ale. All three were good, my favourite was the FigJam as IPA is my favourite beer , but the others were equally good. All three demonstrated that craft brewers are the way to go if you want distinctive and delicious beer.

This was also a gift from my cousin that she booked for all of us so this is from a tourist pov. It is a beautiful winery - raw in its form - you pull up, park in a spot and enter the winery. There's trees and land and mountains - it's gorgeous. We walk in and there's an older gentleman there - we tell him we are there for a wine tasting and tour and he asks how we booked and says hold on someone will be with us. The way my cousin purchased the tour was online - so there were some issues with that and they kinda were saying that she'd have to pay cash at the end or whatever - it just was kinda all over the place and that's okay - but it didn't seem like we were there for a wine tasting. There wasn't very much direction as to what we were doing. It felt almost like we were at a farm just visiting a family's property. The decor is kinda all over the place - actually there is none. The inside has so much potential- but seeing as there were all men there - I can see why it was minimal and that there were colored paper chains on the staircase. Feels like they've maybe let it slip through the cracks on the inside - even the patio was outdated and maybe needed some modern outdoor furniture and a new patio at that. I know it's a small family business but if you're having ppl book tours - it would prob help to maybe update or modernize the facility. We did a wine tasting and our guide was great - they had a cheese board and drinks that the girls purchased a la carte - just feels like these could have been included in the package if you ask me. They did give us a bag of treats for the animals so we fed the sheep and alpaca outside and it was a beautiful experience. They are so cute. I think the winery has so much potential with just maybe some improvement on their tour/wine tasting experience being more organized. Also updates to the facility because it looks really outdated. I don't really drink wine so I'm not here to judge the alcohol. Food: had the choice of hamburgers or chicken burgers. It came with lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. The bun was a big and fluffy bread that was way too big for the meat. The hamburger was mediocre at best, it also came with a side of dry french fries. There is complimentary hot water in front where you can make your own coffee or tea. Luckily I snagged some coffee before the rude worker I'll be mentioning later took away the milk. I was the only one mixing a drink and she even give me warning that she was taking things away. She just mentioned she was cleaning up, but didn't put in context to reset the room for the next group. There is also an impressive selection of non alcoholic beverages on the side of the dining room in coolers for $3.50 each. There are also ice cream bars for sale as well. The one girl we had did a great job explaining how the different wines were and how to taste it. One of the other girls was very short with us and she must have been super busy. Friendly level of 2 out of 10. She didn't give a rip about us since she was the leader for another group. There are restrooms on the first and second floors. 6 in total. 4 stars for the wine such I don't know much about in hopes of giving the owner the benefit of the doubt. -2 stars for everything else.

On our visit, they were just opening on a week day so it wasn't busy at all. The staff was immediately welcoming and friendly. I got a tasting paddle here of a bunch of lighter styles for the hot weather, prices were reasonable. They didn't have any food, so we got some things from the cafe across the street and enjoyed it in here. The space has long tables, perfect for groups like in a beer hall. Brewing equipment is in the back and along the sides, with the bar in the middle. If you're a beer fan and visiting Gold Coast, this is a great one to visit.

When visiting the Coast, Tonic is my preferred place to catch up with friends and family over a bite to eat and a few glasses of wine. It's relaxed, the staff are friendly and the glitter strip standard of a fake tan and clingy dress aren't prerequisites for entry. There's a pretty good selection of wines and some tasty morsels on the tapas-style menu. The paprika and nori calamari and the haloumi are two particularly delicious dishes. While I've ventured to Tonic mostly on a Friday night, the one time I did swing by on a Saturday it was a little hectic. The dj was mixing beats a touch too loudly to allow for any conversation and the very young and beautiful locals had taken up residence on the lounges. While I'll probably steer clear of Saturdays, you can be sure that I'll be back at Tonic again soon as I love the idea of a great bar without the megawatt bling so common on the Coast.

On the first Friday of every month Burleigh Brewing Company hosts the "Brewhouse Bash" - a great…read morenight of beer, music, beer, bbq, beer, and beer. We just so happened to be up for a few beers Friday night on our holiday up north, so that worked out well for us. The party spilled out from the brewery taking up the adjacent industrial car park, with groups of all ages enjoying the balmy night with a cold drink in hand, and lots of happy kids running around inventing games, giving it a real neighbourhood feel. Music was fun and interesting - a solo guy with a parade of instruments looping them to give himself a backing band - and most importantly the beer was brilliant. Lots of options, a few on tap, others in bottles, all well priced, and tasty tasty stuff. Burleigh Brewing has definitely found a new fan.

His prices are competitive with the supermarkets but with products far better in quality. I remember the first time we decided to buy steak from the guy at a similar price to one of the supermarkets, it is when we did not end up with a fry pan full off water that we understood the difference between good meat and 'the other stuff' which is fast packaged and prepared to maximise the corporate profit at the expense of consumer best interests. He does something called a Kessler (a smoked pork chop) blimey they are good, his eggs are just fabulous too. Highly recommended.
