Some places win you over slowly. This one does it all at once. Delicious food, a rushing river, a waterfall view, and the kindest people you could hope to meet. We spent the week in Lake Placid for Spring Break, and we could not have been more happy to find this place, especially since we had our dog with us. Lisa G's feels like the kind of place you wish you had back home. We sat out on the porch with a perfect view of the water and our golden retriever happily at our feet. That alone would have been enough, but the food made sure we stayed awhile. We started with the wings. These are true buffalo wings. Not breaded, just well sauced and done right. We also ordered the cheese treat and it completely stole the show. Feta, spices, and jalapenos over fresh arugula, scooped onto toasted bread. It is one of those dishes where you keep saying just one more bite until suddenly it is gone. For dinner we tried the shrimp tacos, which have quite a reputation. As Texas people we were a little unsure about the pineapple salsa, but it works. Bright and just sweet enough. The slaw is mellow and tangy and ties everything together in a way that feels thoughtful rather than trendy. The fish and fries surprised us the most. Easily the best fish and chips we have had in years. Real haddock with a light crisp fry and a rich house made tartar sauce that does not play second fiddle. Chance said he usually only likes fish and chips for the fried part, but here he actually liked the fish itself. That tells you everything. The fries are the kind you keep reaching for long after you are full. Our teen ordered the burger and it disappeared before we could negotiate a bite. Former picky eaters do not lie. We tried the Julian cocktail, which drinks like a confident mai tai. The riesling missed the mark a bit. Next time we would go for the sauvignon blanc or the house white. It is official. This is our spot. We have been to Lisa G's maybe 5 times, but this night was the first time we sat on the beautiful back upper deck, facing the dam. It was so romantic. Our server was very attentive. The food we order is always a delight - even if it does not look like it will be. For example, I ordered the chicken and collard greens special with wild greens and the dish was soupy. I normally do not like any kind of rice in soup situation, but babyyyyyyyy, this was delicious. I could not believe how good it was. The next day, I had the leftovers and it was still good. There were tiny changes to some other meal items, but we were able to omit them easily. Overall Lisa G's was a good experience, although would say it did not fully meet our expectations based on previous reviews. We got chips and salsa for appetizer, and I do have to say the salsa was delicious. I had the lemon Caesar salad with chicken, which I really enjoyed and was a big portion. I was able to get a reservation for two at 9:30 on a Saturday night but since we were hungry, we decided to try our luck by going earlier to see if we could push up our reservation or snag a walk in table. We got there at 8 and the hostess said they'd be able to mark us as arrived and seat us within 30 minutes. We told them we were going to the bar to get a drink and wait. 40 minutes later, I checked in and they said they'd be able to seat us soon. An hour 15 later, 15 minutes before our actual reservation, I checked in and they looked like they were surprised to see our table ready and sat us. I think it ended up working to our disadvantage that we weren't waiting next to the hostess/at the bar because I think they forgot about us. Despite the initial issue, we sat down and had a lovely meal. We got the beef lettuce wraps. They were very good. For entrees, we ordered the fish and chips and the jerk short rib. As someone who can't handle spicy, it ended up being a little more spicy than the waiter described. The short rib was super fatty, but the meat that was there was so tender and cooked well. The fish and chips was a very big portion, a touch overcooked but super crispy. The drinks were super delicious. It was a little bit loud but again, it was a busy Friday night. I got the burger which was fine, but their house sauce really was spot on. I even asked for another side of it for my fries. My dining partner tried some wings and a salad which were great; there's some unique options for wings which was fun! Overall, I'd definitely go back. We drove by this place a few times and every time thought, that place looks like it has some good grub! Well turns out we were wrong... It has some amazing grub! This spot is situated a block or so outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown on a waterfront. The inside was comfortable and low key, your typical pub/watering hole but the food bats above that weight class. We started with delicious lemony Greek wings that came with a whipped feta dipping sauce. Refreshing and divine on a hot day. I then went for the pork enchiladas that came topped with a mole sauce - I am a sucker for mole sauce - and it was delicious. Deep, zesty, chocolatey, everything you want in a mole sauce! We ended with the cinnamon raisin bread pudding which was delicious but begged for a scoop of ice cream rather than whipped cream. Been dining and drinking here for years. Ambiance is good however annoyingly very very loud in there, servers are great, everyone super polite and respectful. Menu has not been changed in a very long time and the food has slipped. Pizza was wet and sloppy, salad dressing was missing something, coleslaw was runny and loaded with sugar, food is not even close to healthy. Oh my godneeeessss, this place is amazing. We were staying at a nearby Lodge and this place came highly recommended by multiple hotel staff members. It's a little off the beaten track and has a quaint outside appearance. Inside it's bright, colorful, and beautifully decorated. The menu had a nice mix of inventive dishes (Beet Reuben, pork snitzel) and pub staples (burgers, fish and chips). We started with the beet salad and the calamari, both of which were fantastic. The beet salad was a little small, but delicious. The calamari had a nice mix of olives and pickled vegetables with it. I ordered the Seafarer Fettuccini, husband got the pork snitzel, kids got the Mac and cheese (Kraft) and cheese pizza. Amazing food!!!! The staff was really nice. We arrived at 4 and were able to get a table, but it filled up almost completely by 5pm. Never disappoints! We always visit Lisa G's on our visits to Lake Placid we usually sit outside and love listening the the water run in the creek by the deck. This time we ended up inside a bit loud but a fun vibe. Started with the pork lettuce wraps nice and flavorful! Love how fresh all the ingredients are. I usually opt for one of their specials but this time tried the pork schnitzel which I have not had since I visited Europe back in the 90's and this was amazing loved the German. Potato salad it was served on. My boyfriend had the quinoa salad with chicken such a large portion had a hard time finishing. Came here with some friends when we were visiting Lake Placid. This place was packed for dinner and we only were able to get seating inside. It was extremely hot and stuffy inside - I don't think they have AC here. I would of preferred outdoor dining but I think you have to book way in advance for that, especially for a large group. To start, we ordered the Calamari, Moroccan Nachos, and the Sesame Ginger Salad. For my entree I ordered the Skirt Steak. I enjoyed the nachos and the salad. The calamari was okay and my skirt steak was super dry and really tough to chew through - not good :( If you want a really big meal, I suggest getting the chicken parm - my friend got that and it definitely can be 2-3 meals lol. Overall, not too memorable of an experience and the temperature in the restaurant didn't help as we were sweating while eating our dinner. Service was alright but it was also super busy. read more

I've been going to Lisa G's for 8-10 years. I don't take pleasure writing this review but the quality has been declining and tonight was the last straw. I won't be going back. I know the place was sold several years ago so the new owner should take notice of this review. The wings used to be the best around but lately they come out soggy and the sauces have minimal flavor. Used to be the best buffalo wings around that set the standard for all other wings. Sadly not true anymore. The wings were rubbery as well. To top it off I ordered a cheese flat bread pizza and the board it was served on had remnants of a blueberry smeared on the board. They do have a blueberry pizza so obviously my board was not cleaned as it should have been before putting my food on it. The taste was also mediocre at best. Just not a good experience and I am sad about it. Definitely not the place it used to be. read more

We sat in the bar area since the wait for a regular table I was about 35 minutes. Not sure if it's always this crowded but a reservation wouldn't be a bad idea! I ordered the turkey sandwich (T.A.B.L.T) and my husband went with the tacos. One of the best turkey sandwiches I've had. They used thick slices of carved turkey breast (not deli slices).
