One thing I've learned is that when a place has a strangely large amount of reviews, beware! Taste is subjective and if you like the food, that's fine. I don't like leaving a poor review and it's certainly possible that most people really like the food and by some odd coincidence everyone I've come across thinks it's really bad. Staff was nice. No problem with service or time. I just don't see how this is "the best Chinese food in FL." I gave the place a second chance since there are so many good reviews. Both times the fam hated it. I asked other people IRL about the place. All agreed it was bad. I've had great Chinese food in NY, CA, PA, and okay in FL. I've even enjoyed meals in China, but I'm not going to compare that with what eat here in the states. Sorry, but Lisa's Kitchen (Boca Raton) is my least favorite of all. But on the bright side if you really do have so many customers that think your food is 5 stars, you should have no problems with us taking a pass. If you paid for them congrats on fooling me twice. Ok I get it - it's Christmas night. So you already get a huge pass. Forget the food - haven't even eaten it and when I do let's assume it was fine. But the owner Lisa - yelling at take out patrons who waited 4 hours - saying the kitchen is slammed because they had to cook the food all at once - is an embarrassment. The fact that Lisa doesn't have the honesty to tell people who ordered late that they couldn't take the order because they're kitchen is FULL is dishonest and shady business. Lisa will learn the hard way when all of the dozens of patrons standing outside waiting hours for their food dispute their credit card bills and no one ever returns to this poorly ran dishonestly owned establishment. Another fabulous dinner...Len loves the shrimp and lobster sauce and I love the lo mein. Today I tried the chow mein (I usually make my own) and it was delicious. Egg rolls are great and the best wonton soup. We started going to Lisa's when she first opened and so glad we found her. When we left New York four years ago we tried several Chinese restaurants and were very disappointed. I am not one to write Yelp reviews, but what happened last night was ATROCIOUS. We ordered our food a little before 5PM and was told it would be ready at 6:15. I arrived to pick up the order and saw the line wrapped around the door, so I went in to ask about my order. I was asked to pay for my meal, and stand outside to wait while my food was "cooking" because I was "next." Well ... an hour later I was not next, still had paid for my food and HANGRY. When I asked about the order, Lisa yelled at me that if I was to be impatient, I should cancel my order and leave her business, so I tried to do just that. I gave her my card to refund, and she went to the back with it, along with my receipt, so I couldn't leave. Meanwhile, I heard her son Timothy bossing around part-time employees like he was a manager, and he specifically told them to stop telling anyone what their wait time would be. TELL ME THAT ISN'T CRIMINAL. After 15 minutes of waiting for Lisa and telling her I will call the police if she doesn't give me a refund, she told me to wait three days to see if my money was returned, and if not to call her restaurant. I told her I was not leaving without a receipt that said my transaction was void, and after another 5 minutes of arguing, I got a refund and left the restaurant. I felt bad for the part-time hires, as these guys were getting the brunt of the harsh comments from the customers, but Lisa needs to learn how to run her business. She was incredibly rude to customers, and has lost my business; she was taking orders and taking payments despite the backlogged kitchen and people ALREADY waiting for food, KNOWING she won't be able to satisfy most of these customers in a reasonable time. read more

Best chinese food in the whole area, hands down! My wife and I have been searching for a good quality chinese food restaurant for a long time and finally decided to give Lisa's Kitchen a try. The sweet and sour chicken was cooked perfect and didn't look like the meat was high quality and tasted delicious. The pork fried rice wasn't dry at all, the pork in it wasn't fatty, it was all perfect. My wife's beef & broccoli came with more beef than broccoli (which she was happy about) and the white rice wasn't dry and hard like every other chinese food place. More expensive than most of the chinese food places around but YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, every penny was worth it. 10/10 would eat here again. read more

Ordered here for the first time tonight and they inadvertently forgot the 6 egg rolls I ordered. The owner believed in her people and their process and not me, however, she came around, recognized that it may not be worth losing a customer, and credited me for the miss - I know this was not easy (we've all been in that position and it's tough accepting the customer is always right). I have to say I am really glad too, as this is THE best NY style Chinese in the area. Born and raised in the NYC area makes me somewhat of an expert, but being Jewish makes me an absolute authority on the cuisine (I don't know why we love it, we just do). Specifically on the food, the fried rice is on point - the right color, flavor, and a ton of pork (not fatty)---and NO carrots or peas, the way it should be. Wonton soup is what I grew up with and served with proper mustard, not the packs. The pork lomein was very tasty, not too dry or oily. The honey chicken wasn't crispy, but was delicious and was first to disappear. I drove 30 minutes to come here and I'll be back. My new "go to" Chinese. It was just ok, not the 4-5 stars people have been giving. Not a lot of flavor. The house special fried rice was very dry , alot of onions and not many shrimp. The Pad Thai was ok , the sauce was very sweet. I definitely like Tempura House better even though their quality has gone down , still better. I've gave them 3 stars instead of 2 was because they were very clean, organized , and did everything to prevent the coronavirus, wearing gloves, using a pole to push the food to you. read more

Since moving here five years ago we have suffered one bad Chinese restaurant after another. Our standard for a possible 2nd visit was, well it's not terrible. Unfortunately, we couldn't find one that wasn't. I should digress a bit and say that I live 1/2 the year in Washington DC where there is a vibrant Asian community and high quality food in virtually every category; Chinese, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Uyghur, you name it. A few weeks ago a good friend recommended Lisa's Kitchen. With great apprehension we ordered a few of our baseline favorites, all of which were well past "not terrible" indeed quite good. We decided to try this restaurant based upon the number of good reviews and the fact that decent Chinese food (even American Chinese) is difficult to find in Florida! I'll start with the good....Ronnie is wonderful! He is a great 'face' for the restaurant- a real asset--far surpasses Lisa the owner--but I'll get to that later. The shrimp pad thai was fairly tasty and had many plump shrimps that were cooked well. For just under $80 delivered, we had egg rolls (blah and bland, but not greasy)...California Roll (Publix is better)...Sesame Peanut noodles (if you licked a spoon of Skippy and then had a mouthful of noodles in a blind taste test, I guarantee you couldn't discern the plain peanut butter from the noodle appetizer. Yes, that was the ONLY flavor in the noodles and it was that awful.) Beef chow fun was totally dry and tasteless, although the meat was tender--it looked nothing like the photos that the owner shares in Yelp-mostly noodles and virtually no sauce was our reality. The pork egg foo yong was probably the worst I've ever had in my life. (And I've lived in the Northeast, MidAtlantic, Midwest, and here in Florida). It was burned BLACK on the top and bottom and tasted burnt. This dish was totally inedible. The sauce that came with it had an off taste as well. We had requested duck sauce and EXTRA hot mustard, but didn't receive any of either. There were 3 packets of soy sauce--the only condiments provided. I'm not a big complainer and would have chalked this up to a bad experience and just would have avoided the place in the future, if it wasn't so expensive. So I decided to call and voice my displeasure. Ronnie answered the phone, listened intently and respectfully, wrote down my complaints and said he'd have the owner call, which she did--at 9:47 PM. I was asleep, so called back the next morning. The previous evening I had offered to bring the food back or take photos, but Ronnie said he believed me, so we threw the bulk of it in the garbage. The owner, Lisa, told me to bring the food back or she would send someone to pick it up. I told her I offered to do that last night, but was told it was unnecessary, and it was in the garbage. She proceeded to reluctantly offer a credit on a future purchase. I told her I'd prefer a refund, because I didn't see myself returning. Then the yelling began on her end-I never raised my voice! She said that the egg foo yong wasn't burnt because she personally packed it. Changing her tune, she said, well, it might have been burnt on the bottom but not the top. It was black on BOTH sides! When I said that there was no flavor to the noodles except for peanut butter, she said I obviously never had them before. I even MAKE them on occasion! When I said that my friend's daughter in law, who was born and raised in China and worked in an American Chinese restaurant when she first came here makes them as well, Lisa said Chinese people don't eat this food (which I am very aware of--this is AMERICAN). Yet she calls the restaurant authentic Chinese. Hmmmm. Anyway, she didn't want to refund me, and basically called me a liar. Then she started screaming again, telling me to never come to her restaurant because she doesn't want a customer like me in her place. (Keep in mind, she initially offered a future credit.) I asked (calmly) if she was going to give me a refund or not, because I was fully prepared to take it up with my CC company at this point. She again screamed at me and said she'd refund the noodles and the egg foo yong, and again screamed we don't like you ! We don't want you here! You never order from me again! Then she hung up on me. Great proprietor when you want good buzz about your business! Every single word of this is true and not exaggerated in the least. 1-8-21 RESPONSE TO OWNER'S COMMENT: I did NOT demand a full refund. I actually never even asked for a refund for one of the items, as I said it was decent. LIsa, if your memory is short and you don't remember, ask Ronnie if I demanded a full refund, or if I acknowledged that the Pad Thai was decent and edible! If you call treating customers with the utmost respect screaming at them to never come in your store again--or screaming at a customer for ANY reason--clearly you don't understand what respect is. I, on the other hand, was calm and respectful. I wasn't looking for a free meal---everything but the pad thai, two pieces of California roll and half of an egg roll went in the garbage can. Nobody would eat them. So nobody got a 'free meal'. Saying you treat your customers with respect and offer high quality food is an experience I didn't get from you. No respect and subpar cuisine. no, it's not a five star chinese restaurant. but it isn't bad, especially for boca. and it isn't authentic chinese despite what it says on the menu, but standard americanized. i didn't sample the sushi or the thai dishes. prices were reasonable for the portion size. the good: pork dumplings. lots of pork and a sturdy, rib-sticking wrapper. the not bad: egg drop soup. a bit more egg and bit less thickening agent would be better. but it was okay. mongolian shrimp. surprisingly large shrimp and a well-balanced sauce (with a touch of heat) which was present, however, in overabundance. not a dish in which the protein is best served swimming. the not good: kung pao shrimp. another point for the large shrimp. but minus two for the non-descript brown sauce. the really not good: general tao's chicken. too-small bites of chicken in a too-thick coating. but the real problem was the sauce, which was cloyingly sweet. in fairness, americans often find such fare to their taste. but this will be over the top for all but the most primitive of palates. summary: if you choose wisely you can cobble together a serviceable lunch or decent dinner. there are, however, dishes that need some serious reworking. the owners are earnest and friendly which counts for something, too. in short, a qualified recommendation. read more

We live in Fort Lauderdale, but were headed up to Boca to watch the FAU softball First Pitch Classic Tournament. We were in the mood for Chinese food and wanted to eat close to the Campus, but weren't familiar with the restaurants in the area. So, we took to yelp and came across a few places in the area. After reading the reviews, we decided on Lisa's Kitchen. I am so glad that is the choice we made! This place was incredible! First, I have to say that this place is incredibly CLEAN! When we walked in (on a Friday night) it was very busy. Almost all of the tables were full and there were quite a few customers ordering takeout at the counter, but every single person working behind the counter stopped to look up and greet us when we walked in. We were asked if we wanted to order take-out or sit down and dine in. We were dining in so we sat down at an open table and a young gentlemen brought us menus and took our drink order advising us that Frank would be with us in a moment. Frank was not only extremely attentive, but it was also very clear that he CARED very much about providing excellent customer service. He was also the first person in all my life to get my soup order correct! I like an equal mix of wonton and egg drop broth with a little white rice instead of wontons and some hot oil and noodles, something that until ordering here, I've only been able to have they way I like it at a buffet when I make it myself! We ordered pan fried pork dumplings to start and they were perfectly cooked and delicious. My son ordered roast pork lo mein. The roast pork used in his dish was the big strips of roast pork that I haven't seen in a chinese food dish since I was a kid, he really enjoyed it. He let us taste it, and it was really good! My daughter and I shared the general tso's and OMG! IT was SOOOO DELICIOUS! It came with an egg roll that was full of real yumminess. Most places nowadays have minimized the main flavor inside and they are filled with more cabbage than anything else, not here though, it was a real pork egg roll with all the yummy inside, and it was hot and fresh. It also came with a soup and fried rice.It really felt like the food in their kitchen was made with LOVE. Once we got our meal Lisa personally came to our table to introduce herself to us because she knew we were new to the restaurant and wanted to know if we were happy with our experience. There was something so warm and inviting about our conversation with her, like we were in her home and she wanted us to feel comfortable and part of the family. Well, we absolutely did! During our conversation, she told us how she used to own a restaurant in Boynton Beach close to where my sister lives, but moved and sold it so that she could be close for her son in college. After 3 years, she really missed having a restaurant and making people happy and opened this location so she could fulfill that void but still be there for her son. This confirmed for me that Lisa's Kitchen is in fact ran by a love for doing for others and was not just about running a business. The inside was beautifully lined with her sons artwork, and there are 2 TV monitors behind the counter (seperate from the one in the dining room for customers to watch). One displayed photos of the menu, and the other displayed photos of Lisa with her family, but not just her home family, also her family of loyal customers. I thought this was a beautiful and personable touch to the warmness you feel inside this cozy little place. Lisa's Kitchen has become my go to favorite for over a year! All the Chinese Food is so delicious and tastes so fresh just like a Mom would make for her family. It's a local small family owned business that I hope sticks around forever especial making it through during this hard time. I was hesitant to try the sushi because I happen to be very particular but my husband surprised me for our anniversary date night in and order from Lisa's Kitchen, their son took our order and let me tell you it made this mother of 5 celebrating her 10 year wedding anniversary just so happy the order was perfect. Been wanting to try this newly established Chinese restaurant out. Ordered online through the web. I ordered orange chicken, beef chow fun, and wonton soup. When I got to the restaurant, my food had just come out. It was hot and fresh. When I arrived home, my food was still hot, perfect temperature to be exact. The beef chow fun was excellent! Some of the best I've had, especially here in boca Raton. My boyfriend really enjoyed his orange chicken as well. The sauce on the chicken was well executed. Perfect balance on the orange flavoring in the sauce. Wonton soup was fantastic as well, I very much enjoyed it. Even the small but essential part of my meal (fried noodles for soup and house duck sauce) was great. YOU CAN REALLY taste the freshness in the food here, as well as the amount of love and care the owners put into their dishes. I especially liked the fact that both of the dishes that I ordered tasted not only fresh, but healthy. Nothing I hate more than food saturated in oil, and I'm happy to say that my food was not that! Very tasty, very fresh, and very much delicious!! Will be back to try other items on the menu soon. P.S, the customer service is also great.
