Stopped in on 10/06/26 to try Beth's famous biscuits and gravy, which are served only on the first Friday morning of every month. We originally learned about the biscuits and gravy because we stopped in the afternoon before to try their corned beef and Reuben sandwiches, so I'll touch on both. On Friday we arrived right at 9:00 AM, when they opened. Beth was also the bartender that morning. There were already a few people at the bar and a couple of tables occupied, which is always a good sign. We knew right away we were in for a treat after Beth welcomed us with her fun personality. I noticed a large jar behind the bar filled with Tito's vodka and a serious amount of peppers. My immediate thought was that it would make a great base for a morning Bloody Mary, and I was absolutely right. After ordering a couple drinks, we both ordered the biscuits and gravy, which also came with scrambled eggs and bacon. The gravy was very tasty and not overly spiced. The bacon was crispy, and the eggs were fluffy and served hot. By the time we were ready to leave, Beth had a full house, yet she handled everything perfectly. I forgot to take pictures the day before of the corned beef and Reuben sandwiches, but both were excellent. Walked into the bar with a friend, there were five total people sitting at the bar. The bartender never said a word to us as we sat at one of the tables. Two different people at the bar talked to is, but not the bartender. Left after ten minutes. read more

This place is gross. Cramped, pungent, and dimly lit even in the middle of the day, Al's is a MAGA bar that offers a menu small enough to fill a couple bulletin points on a whiteboard. Their customer base seems to primarily be made up of octogenarian veterans who while away the day complaining about Obama and the communists. Frankly, it's not for me. read more

I have known Al most of my entire life. it's a shame what the place as turned into. One bar tender is so rude when you go to talk to her she actually states it's to early to talk to me! Wtf! your in the wrong business! The business coming in for new customers (and I have watched this repeatedl) are totally turned off by this shit poor attitude they never come back. Sad. Racist, ignorant, judgmental a##holes. I walked in one day and the alcoholic locals said I hope you're not one of those Joliet gangbangers because you look like one. Al the owner also refused to give me more than one drink because he said he didn't want me getting drunk at his bar yet he over-serves the local racist alcoholics all the time. If I could rate this place less than one star, I would. I am unfortunate enough to live near this racist establishment, and I'm constantly hearing yelling and fighting. I've only walked into this place maybe twice, and I feel like I'm being stared at out of hatred because I'm not a regular. The burgers might be good, but it's not enough for me to go in to order one. My friend and her mom went in there a couple years ago, and a white, racist gentleman mentioned something about white america and a threesome. Trash go to this bar. Little Al's is everything a local neighborhood bar should be. The building is old and charming,when you enter it's like you're stepping into another time. The proprietor is a delightful gentleman and veteran who makes you feel at home and if you are lucky enough to be there when he is tending the bar you are likely to hear some colorful tales. (Ask about the monkey his father brought to the mother superior's office.) The drinks are reasonably priced as is the food. I would stand the burger up to any in the area at less than half the price in most cases. Great place. read more

Prices are reasonable, Little Al is the bar tender on Wednesdays for sure. Daily specials priced right. If you don't stand when the flag passes in a parade you may not want to come. I've been going here for 23 years..used the pay phone to call my real estate agent to close the deal on my first and only house....the first business I solicited in Mokena (when Mokena was rural). Since smoking was banned, the place is even better....try the super burger!!!.. i know people from Mokena who have no idea it's there...sad. Great place. Al is the man..Cheryl is awesome. read more

What a great little place! We walked in around 2:30 pm on a Saturday, to find out much to our disappointment that the kitchen closed at 2, an older man who we later found out to be Little Al himself said if we just wanted burgers he'd make an exception and cook us up some. Upon hearing that one of the regular patrons shouted out "you make the best burgers anyhow". The place is a dive don't expect anything fancy it's a beer and shot type of place with room for 30 people max and a few tables but those burgers we're good, I will definitely be back! The service was excellent everyone was friendly and accommodating and you have to love an owner who will accommodate his customers. Just make sure you go when the kitchen is open. There is a sign out front that reads "the best burgers in town" I think it may be true. read more

This is a fun little neighborhood place...an old fashioned bar and a few tables...the owner, Al Pizzato (my name even has pizza in it, he says) loves to chat with you...there's cheap (cold) draft peer (1.40 -- hard to beat) and a great old exterior...word has it the burgers, too are great...and Al himself was quick to talk up his homemade spaghetti with big meatballs (wednesdays) and there appears to be a respectable fish fry on fridays, but we got there at 2:30 and the kitchen closes at 2. If Al has help behind the bar he'll extend the hours, but if not, you're out of luck, as we were. It was a friendly, pleasant sun-filled dive, so we had a few drafts and moved on. will have to update when we get to try the burgers. but it's in a real old downtown, right by the metra station, and the pix online were what drew me in and it did not disappoint. read more

The nicest man owns this place. Today was my first time there and I was very satisfied. I got the Joey Burger (blue cheese burger) with fries and it was awesome, and only $4.50 . He told me to come back on Wednesday because he makes the sauce and meatballs for spaghetti Wednesday. Hmm! Now that I have gone back a few times this is the joint in a nutshell. It's a cheap place to drink and has pretty good food. But remember. Slumin this far down the pike can be dangerous. Someone is always going to start up a conversation if you sit close enough. Twenty feet is about right. And as I was waiting for my burger I had the chance to see the bartender in action. They have generous pours and are quick to the draw when you get low. I went to wash my hands before my food came. I will say that they were cleaner before I went into that room. There was a table that the parents thought it would be a great idea to bring the kids. Then complained about the language. This is a raunchy old corner tavern full of people that are looking to have a good time and obviously! Get drunk! Do you want to go back in time to when racism was ok? Then Little Al's is your place. I was drawn here by the sign that read "Best Burger in Town". This was a classic example of false advertising. Although I have not tried every single burger in Mokena, I've certainly had better (has anyone heard of Tribes???). Stick to the spaghetti. Wednesday nights are the night to see and be seen, as it is spaghetti night. Service was subpar. I was served by a crotchety old woman. Outsiders BEWARE. The drinks are cheap and people watching is definitely the best in the area. They also sell hoodies with customized names--a great gift for any loved one! In all, great ambiance, not so great food. I live behind the bar, and all you hear is redneck trash in the back lot. I once heard some trash bag beating his wife, or whore whatever she was in the back lot. Stay far away from this place. Yikes, this is tough to review. You have to understand that this is a dive bar. Some rough language but, hey, this is what bars are supposed to be. My girlfriend and I went on a lazy Saturday afternoon. The guys at the bar will talk to you. Little Al is an awesome guy. He's a Marine. Ask him to show you a picture of his monkey. Good stories and cheap beer. The place is dirty and bathrooms still have that recycled papertowel rolling thing. Just bring hand sanitizer if you're worried about that sort of thing. read more

My favorite place to get a superburger, thats the name of Al's big burger. What a deal 5$ for a fresh made juicy cheeseburger with hot crispy fries! Plus Little Al is a super guy! A clean and old school joint with friendly "real kinda" of people. I just love this "dive" bar! If you are going for lunch make sure you get there before 2:00pm because thats when the grill closes untill dinner time. Just give it a try once. Love this place. Went in there for the first time and little Al was tending bar. Felt like I knew the man for years. Lil' Al's has it all ! My wife and I came into town for 6 days last week for her 45th Class Reunion. I, have never been to Illinois. The first day driving around town I see this cool little local watering hole so I pulled over to take a picture of the place and said we will go there tomorrow. The first time we went their, the place was hoping with elders older than us. It was a monthly meeting with a dozen or more older football players from local collages. We had a great sausage sandwich and fry's with cold beer. All the while, Al and his wife were running on both sides of the bar, taking care and feeding everyone. Al himself told us what was going on and some of the history of the building. Old Abe himself stayed overnight up stairs once. We had a great time. The second time we pulled in around 10am on Tue for a Bloody Mary for the flight home. We stayed for lunch and met some very nice people. The bartenderess, assembled this interesting Bloody Mary. Wow.....very tasty and spicy. Just the way we like it. After a few of those, the flight home wasn't so bad. We had burgers with fry's and the old clock on the wall said it was time to head back to San Diego. You will never go wrong spending time in Lil' Als. A real piece of Americana.
