The Goat Cheese ravioli was extraordinary; the truffle marinated artichoke crostini were excellent; and the specialty cocktails were creative and delicious. COVID for the most part is over. I'm glad most people took it seriously but now that restrictions are for the most part lifted can we go back to providing pre covid levels of service? As in actually clearing dirty dishes from the table before the next course, new silver ware for new courses, trying to anticipate needs of customers, offering dessert and coffee at the end, being nice and not short and rude? You're getting away with being jerks for the present but our expectations are soon going to be what they were pre COVID so you might want to operate and act accordingly and yes I'm talking about you, management. Two stars given for the food that's always excellent. What a pleasant little surprise. Absolutley cute design. But oh my, the food was superb! My roommate's calcio e pepe didn't disappoint. It's simplicity at its finest. I had the squid ink pasta with crab. The briny noodles and sweet crab really complemented each other. We had the fried fish cakes, the actual name escapes me now. I didn't care for these with the filling sauces provided the sweet tomato sauce was too sweet to complement it. I'd be happier with just a a wedge of lemon. The server was really pleasant and steered us into the right direction with their take on tiramisu. It's dessert for sell the senses. She said it was small but then proceeds to bring a giant chocolate ball out! Well, before we can thoroughly freak out she smiled knowingly and says "wait". She pours hot chocolate sauce and the bubble bursts open giving us a delightful presentation. The chocolate smelled heavenly. And it was a great feast for the eyes. My group and I had a 7:45 reservation. We waited outside to be seated for 30 minutes, and were starving and thirsty by the time we got seated. The staff comped is with a free appetizer, which was a nice offer, but wasn't reflected on the bill until we asked. On the plus side, the tomato/ burrata appetizer was delicious and fresh. The pasta was also tasty and they kept the Prosecco flowing. The food was fantastic and the servers were nice, so long as you aren't too hungry to be patient. read more

When Jackie's closed, I was devastated. I'd been a regular at the Sidebar for years, and loved it deeply for its skilled and genuine staff, delicious (and well-priced!) cocktails, and neighborhood feel. Also, it was mere minutes from my home. Nothing, I thought, could replace Jackie's. I refused to go to Little Coco's because I was, frankly, mad that it stole the booze and bartenders I loved so dearly. My Jackie's-frequenting friends and I scoured the area, boozing it up at establishments within a reasonable radius, searching for our Jackie's replacement. After each night of happy hours that turned out to be semi-content hours, we agreed: "This is not the new Jackie's." Tonight, I made it to Little Coco's: the establishment that Jackie closed Jackie's in order to open. And... it's perfect!!! The dinner menu is so on point, we already have our next two meals planned out. My favorite drink from Jackie's/life, the Quackerac, exists here (and the other cocktails look good, though I'll probably never order them, because, Quackerac), and so does my favorite person and yours, Paul (who doesn't love Paul?!?!). And the vibe is great -- chill but upbeat, hipster but not pretentious, neighborhood but welcoming. Everyone who works here seems like they're in a good mood and on the same team. The food is delicious (brussel sprouts and housemade pistachio gelato FTW!!!), and the breakfast/brunch menu is calling my name. I kind of wanted to hate the place that stole my favorite bar away, but instead I'm pretty sure it's going to be my new hangout spot. And really, it's only a few minutes away from where Jackie's was -- a really cheap Uber ride when I'm having more than a couple Quacks. Was headed for the airport and desperate for Spaghetti and none of my normal first picks downtown were open..til evening so I found this here rinky dink -red flag. Hop in a lyft which brought us across the street to like a low income bldg so I was scared to get out. Walk in and ask if its self seating she affirms, asks if its 'just me' and indicates 1 bar seat left which I couldnt hack as they only had barstools. Find an empty two seater and as I approach, an overzealous waiter says something about speaking w the host first-2nd flag.. Which I did at the door. 20+ mins of nothingness while I browse their online menu as practically all the waitstaff go by with 0 inquiry... Not even cleaning off the table. Im guessing theyre busy and giving them time to shape up. Zilch. Flag the hostess liiiike is anyone working this section "oh Nobody knows youre here" . I suppose she refers to herself as a nobody because its the same nobody I inquired about seating from. Ultimately the guy that served a table next to me stops by unwillingly asks What I want..... Obvi to eat but since baldness is barring sensibility I show him a menu pic from my phone since I still had none to which he refutes stating this was the dinner menu and not brunch....Well where are the menus? I can't remember how I first heard about Little Coco's, but when I found out that a pizza and Negroni bar was opening up, I thought it might have been specially designed just for me! I started with the Negroni Classico, which I loved. I'm a huge Negroni fan, and this was a nice interpretation. For lunch, I had the Fool's Gold pizza, which had fresh figs, honeycomb, prosciutto, arugula, and pistachio. For a pizza that sounds a little out there, it was delicious and even my boyfriend, a real "I need meat in order for it to be a meal", said it was better than his Pig Destroyer (basically all the meats). I also really enjoyed the Pig Destroyer, but I think it had too much meat, a rare detractor! All in all, the pizzas here are really good, but I think if you hold Pizza Hut above all other pizzas, you might not like it here. Since we were celebrating, I had another drink, this time an Aperol Spritz. While I'm a big Campari fan, I haven't had much Aperol (I like a drink that bites back), so I like this drink but I think I'm a Campari girl. My boyfriend had the Manhattan Power Outage (delicious) and the Dark'n'Stormari (delicious and so interesting!). All in all, I loved Little Coco's and I'm definitely coming back. I really loved the ambiance of the restaurant and the highly 'grammable "Hot Pizza and Cold Beer" sign on the wall. To be honest, when I first saw this place, I thought it was going to be Mexican, but the italian was a pleasant surprise! An intimate area up in the Petworth neighborhood, its the perfect mix of bar/date friendly and family restaurant. Our waiter was super friendly and the perfect combination of being attentive without being overbearing. The menus is just the right amount of options so you are not overwhelmed but have plenty of choices. Decent wine selection, but could be a bit more diverse. My date and I ordered a Tuscany Rosso and it was excellent. We got the artichoke spread as an app, which I thought was going to be more of a flatbread style dish, but turned out to be more of a bread and butter type deal. My date ordered a pasta dish, which he thought was good and I ordered the Demogorgon pizza (without the pancetta) and it was excellent. One thing I will say is that there aren't many vegetarian options, but you can easily make substitutions to accommodate dietary restrictions. Definitely a great dinner spot! read more

Went on opening night and did NOT experience any typical new place nuances experienced when places open. The expertise of the owners (Slash Run and El Chucho, among others) really shines in the level of service we got! The food was fantastic, and I thought reasonably priced. We ordered the ahi tuna tartare, nduja on my mind (try to pronounce it, I dare you), and the sweet corn campanelle. The avocado sorbet on the tartare is what really made the dish! A nice, cooling compliment to the deliciousness of fresh tuna. The spiciness of the nduja (a spicy, spreadable pork) paired really well with the soft, creaminess of the ricotta cheese. Finally, the campanelle was probably the highlight - the rabbit confit was cooked perfectly and went really, really well with the mushrooms, fresh pasta, and cherry tomatoes! (note: the half order was a perfect amount for one!) Needless to say, will be back! read more

I went to Little Coco's for dinner with my sister on a Sunday evening. The service was excellent. We called ahead and our table was set and ready for us when we arrived. We really loved the atmosphere here. It was cute and trendy. My sister ordered a peach Bellini and said she liked it. We wanted to order the chopped salad but asked to make it vegetarian. However, the server explained everything is premade and tossed together so it can't be made vegetarian, which was disappointing. So we both split a margherita pizza and loved it! The pizza had a light and fresh taste. It was the perfect size for two people to share. After our pizza, my sister ordered pistachio gelato. It was served in a cute little dish with a doily and garnish. The gelato was very creamy and rich flavor. Overall, we enjoyed the meal and the service was excellent! Little Coco's is a homey, cozy Italian spot. The walls are covered in pizza themed art, which I love. It feels like you're at a local, neighborhood spot. The vibe is casual. The food came in generous portions, huge plus for me! I had the prosciutto and burrata and the fried green tomatoes with my dining pal. The burrata was fresh and came with amazing, crusty but fresh bread. Tomatoes were tasty, but had a sweet glaze I didn't love. I got the sweet potato gnocchi, which were cooked perfectly. I didn't love the pickled onions(?) they topped with, but the creamy sauce made up for it. Service was a little slow, but it was a Wednesday night and I enjoyed the languid dinner lol. read more

The wings were fried just right where the skin was crispy with a little heat. We ordered the Salmon Pizza and Meat Pizza that were both a thin crust with a slight crunch. I came in here for dinner tonight, and I couldn't wait to check it out because I had read so many cool things about this place. At around 6pm there were barely any people eating inside really, so finding a seat was not a problem. I chose to sit at the bar because the bench seat looked so comfortable. The place definitely has a neat vibe to it. After downing a Bud Lite, I decided to go for the Brochure & Roll Pizza which was reasonably priced at $16. The pizza included toppings of mozzarella cheese, roasted broccoli, and pancetta. By the time this thing was prepared, I was ready for it. This thing was simply way too much for for a single person, but I did my best. I finished off less than half, and asked for a box to take the rest home. This place was cool and very accommodating. The bartender and Host were nice and conversational with everyone. I will have to return next time with a friend. read more

Went to Little Coco's recently and liked it a lot! It has wonderful outdoor seating, which is great when the weather in nice. The restaurant is narrow but deep, so lots of little tables as you make your way towards the back. It seems better for smaller groups than bigger groups because the tables are often a little smaller. We sat at a high table near the bar and split the cacio e pepe, the tuscan kale salad, and a pizza. The cacio e pepe was wonderful! We had gotten back from Italy recently and it reminded me of being there. The salad was fresh and lovely. And the pizza was pretty solid - not as good as Timber nearby but still good. read more

I live nearby and am happy to have a place like this in the neighborhood. I love their new ski lodge bar area upstairs - tiny and cozy spot. The food is good - I especially like their pizza and the lemon ricotta appetizer. We met the owner who was very nice and hospitable. My only complaint is that it really rubs me the wrong way that they provide bread without informing you that it comes with a fee. This is just a service industry no-no so I hope they change that. read more

I really like it here, have gone a few times now over the last couple months. I like both the pizza (the one with quail eggs is my favorite so far) and the pasta. The aranchi and the fried baby artichokes have been best of the ones I have tried. This most recent visit I had potato gnocchi with black truffle butter, prosciutto and arugula. It was delicious, sauce was beautifully integrated with the pasta and not just a pool of sauce with pasta swimming in it like at places like Dino's. My partner had the caccio e pepe. That was good too, but very rich and dense. Service was good. The table next to us seemed like they got a little spotty service here and there but it didn't seem bad enough to upset them. read more

Came in early for dinner last night, having walked up from U Street via a lovely stop at Meridian Hill Park. Sat at the bar and received excellent service from Kevin. Very hip cocktail menu--I started off with a "quack-quack-erac" which boasted duck fat filtered St. Germain. Eventually switching to beer, I had a tasty Graffiti House IPA followed by another Virginia saison, which the menu informs is an active ingredient in all of their pizza dough. Can't beat $5 drafts of the good stuff until 6:30. Got a tour of the upstairs patio which separates a prep kitchen, where presumably doughs and pastas and other things are made, from a main kitchen, where pizzas and entrees are fired. Patio seemed like a great place to have dinner or perhaps brunch on a weekend morning. I also learned that the pizza-themed paintings on the first floor were done by the owner herself, who is clearly passionate about the subject! By the time my date arrived, we almost had to wait for a table, the place had filled up so quickly. Get here by 6 if you plan to beat the rush on a weekend night. Little Coco's has a rotating schedule like so many places these days. Coffee in the morning, sandwiches and pizzas from 12-3, pizzas from 3-5 while they prep for dinner. After dinner they keep doing pizzas from 10pm-midnight, then the bar is open til 2am, then finally they close for a few hours before opening at 8am with a fun looking menu of coffee drinks. In other words, if you live in the neighborhood, there's not much reason to ever leave. Now for dinner! The pizza may be as close to "authentic" Italian as you will find in DC, where in general a serviceable pie is nearly impossible for a Northerner to find. I really enjoyed the Fool's Gold, which is topped with real figs, prosciutto, honeycomb and pistachio. Sweet, savory and with a crunch. Having also tried a piece of their pepperoni and fontina pizza, I can say that they only use high quality ingredients for their toppings. This is not your daddy's sketchy hole-in-the-wall pepperoni, but prime stuff. The only thing that was disappointing was the fried pizza. Seems like a can't-miss kind of concept, and yet in reality ours came out as more of a $15 circular stuffed breadstick? I think they haven't quite perfected this yet. Really wished we could have gone back in time and ordered something else. Being a sucker for seafood pasta, I also had the black tagliatelle brodetto. It was good, but I almost felt again like I would have been better off just trying another pizza, or maybe one of the other mains, which all sounded great. At any rate, I definitely shouldn't have ordered a full serving when a half would have sufficed, but then that's just my big old eyes catching up with me again. Guess I'll be sautéing leftover shrimp and black tag this weekend. Overall, I'd say this place is a hit, and well-deserving of the local hype in a neighborhood seemingly dominated by pastelerías and Salvadoran and Mexican shops. Came here for brunch and LOVED it. Will I be back? Well obviously haha. We ordered the margherita pizza and it was perfect. I used to only have one favorite place that served the best margherita pizza and now I have two. I also ordered the frozen Bellini which consist of prosecco, white peach and ginger wine. Now I hardly drink and thought this would be an nice soft fresh drink, and boy, was I right. It was so delicious and not heavy on alcohol, it was so balanced where you could taste EVERY ingredient in it. Can't wait to come back here and next time I'll bring my dad since I think he'll find it very amusing seeing a restaurant with his name on it and serving pizza haha read more

Do I have a new favorite pizza place in D.C.? I think so! Little Coco's is a gem of a restaurant a bit off of the beaten path for most. Everything I ate was delicious. The Brussels sprouts had a crisp that I've never been able to achieve at home and the 'Nduja really want me to make me cry was amazing. I loved the combination of caramelized onions and green goddess dressing with the 'nduja and mozzarella. I also ordered a glass of house red wine, which was pretty good. The interior was very cute and the lighting was dim enough to make the space feel cozy without being too dark. I'd love to come back and try out their weekly specials (half priced pizza on Monday and $23 bottomless brunch on Sat/Sun, etc.) and check out their rooftop bar. read more

What a great meal! I went to Little Coco's with my boyfriend for an impromptu date night. We arrived fairly late in the evening, so we were able to be seated immediately. The restaurant itself is so cute. I loved the decor, the lighting, the music was also on point! I ordered a squid ink pasta, and my boyfriend got the fried pizza. I highly recommend them both! The pizza dough has saison in the crust, so it's a tiny bit sweet, but oh so savory. In an odd twist for the night, I had forgotten my ID, so I wasn't able to drink the reasonably priced wine. our server, however, recommended the house made ginger beer instead, which was excellent! I didn't even miss not being able to drink (okay, maybe a little bit, but only because some of the cocktails also use the amazing ginger beer). Our server was so funny and friendly, and all around great. We capped off the night with three cannolis, which were amazing. I'm kind of a cannoli snob, and I was still super impressed with them. Neighborhood Brunch Spot - This place would be my Cheers, except I'm there EVERY Sunday, and the waitresses still act like they don't know me. That's cool, I guess. Until you realize bottomless brunch is almost over, and she only refilled your glass twice. The busboy is AMAZING though, and I often tip him for being so responsive. Little Coco's is literally steps from my door, bottomless mimosas - both classic and pomegranate, killer, hangover healing latte, and two people can get out of there for under $45. Top it all off, the pizza take on classic album covers and artwork is charming. It's a win! TIPS: - Quattro Formaggio is my go-to pizza. Think: classy, cheese lovers pizza. - Cinnamon Spiced Pancakes are huge and delicious. I recommend sharing with the table. - Nutella Brioche French Toast - Two words: Rich. AF. (Well, 3 words, but Yelp wasn't having that.) - Little Coco's Breakfast - It's a brunch classic of eggs, done your way, fried potatoes, and sausage/bacon - Steak and Eggs - pretty good, balsamic reduction glazes the steak, and acts as a dressing for the arugula salad that accompanies it. CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK: - Bring. Back. Our. Bread. Basket. They used to have this amazing basket full of different fresh pastries and biscuits for like 7 bucks. They replaced it with 2, greasy, heavy, fresh(ish) made donuts for the same amount. I came, I saw, I passed on it the next time. - Everybody doesn't eat pork. We aren't all pork bacon connoisseurs. There! I said it! Currently EVERY breakfast meat offered is pork, which forces me to get double potatoes...I'm not complaining about that. Those potatoes are hot, crispy, slight rosemary flavored, deliciousness, but...a girl needs her protein! They had this lamb porchetta that was DIVINE. - Calamari - I came in for Happy Hour, the drinks were delicious, the bartender was witty and attentive, the fried baby artichokes and bacalao fritter were worthy nibbles, but all I could think is, they deserve a crispy seafood sister of tender calamari, with a house made marinara! Amazing drinks (especially the negronis), amazing food, amazing staff. Love the bartenders. We came here for brunch. Little Coco's is a cute, small, dark restaurant about a block away from the famed (or infamous- depending how you look at it) Red Derby. The brunch menu is fairly extensive, however there's nothing for those on a diet - no salad or oatmeal in sight, but this is an Italian restaurant, so this is to be expected. The food is delicious, albeit on a simple side, and the portions are very generous. They also serve a good espresso. The bottomless brunch (which I did not partake in) is $24, but the caveat is that most entrees come with an up-charge, so prepare to pay more if you want to go with a bottomless option. It includes an entree plus mimosas or PBRs, so if your idea of a brunch is having pizza and slamming some cans this is a spot for you! read more

The only issue is that there are some no -italian touched here and there that signal that there were not likely to be Italians involved in the genesis of the dishes and their recipes. We love this place! We have been coming for dinner about once a week. Little Coco's makes perfect wine recommendations, delicious appetizers and pastas, and has delightful desserts.
