I love German restaurants and I love this place, cannot recommend it enough. It's sooo hard to find good German restaurants anymore, so this is a jewel in Fort Worth. Pleasant German folk music, Amy was our waitress and I can't say enough good things about her and her suggestions. And the food is just bliss, especially the goulash soup and schnitzels and actually hot German potato salad (Kartoffelsalat). The Spätzle was very nicely prepared. And the red cabbage (Rotkohl) was great. Sehr gutes Essen!

Food was really grim. Spaetzle was flavorless, potatoes under seasoned, vegetable soup not good, chicken was edible. Tablecloths were beyond worn out and not the cleanest. Decor and loud music blaring made for an unenjoyable lunch. Nothing I we ate was good, and only some was edible. Shame.

Great customer service and tasty food! Would definitely recommend for its ambiance. Our servers had plenty of recommendation and always made sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely be coming back!

    Fried Mushrooms...

Ordered me some delicious fried shrooms tonight for dinner, the order came with a side of bread, and butter, and washed it all down, with a Hefeweizen !! Amy was my hostess, and she is a hoot !! Love coming to this place !! If you're in Funkytown, and crave some German food, stop by and grab a bite to eat...

    Six Sausage Platter

While on a business trip in the Fort Worth area, I discovered this gem near my hotel. Who doesn't like sauerkraut, sausages, and schnitzel. I was really excited to come to this restaurant to try it out. Once my coworker and I walked in, we were immediately greeted by one of the waitresses as well as German folk music blaring through the speaker in the front. At least that set the tone and mood. I knew I was in a German restaurant. The menu was pretty extensive and had many things to choose from. We ended up getting the Six Sausage Platter and Potato Pancake appetizers to share. I ordered the Combination Platter and my coworker got the Ribeye steak. It was kind of a mistake to order the appetizers, not because they were not tasty but because it was so much food. OMG. The Six Sausage Platter was a meal in itself. Delicious would just be an understatement. The sausages were cut into small pieces and came with mustard dipping sauce. The Potato Pancakes came with apple sauce and sour cream. For my Combination Platter, it included a Jager schnitzel, Vienna Schnitzel, and the Munchen style sausage with red cabbage, sauerkraut, pan fried potatoes, spatzle, and gravy. Everything was just so tasty. But this platter was huge! A normal person would not be able to finish it. It didn't help that we had the 2 large appetizers too that we didn't finish. Needless to say, I had leftovers that I took back to the hotel. It was nice to be able to eat somewhere in Texas that wasn't just barbecue. Little Germany hit the spot, and if my travels bring me back to the area, I will have to come by again. To be honest, I came back a second time later on in the week. :-)

I've read many good things about this place so, when the opportunity arose to meet here. I took advantage. It was a Thursday afternoon. My friend and I had the place to ourselves, except for one other couple and one large to go order. It's well lite inside, the temperature is fine and it's nice and quiet. I've been looking for a place like this for a long time! I ordered the German Potato Cakes. They were crispy, chewy and a little sweet. They came with a side of Sour Cream and Apple Sauce, no thanks. The Potato Cakes were good, just the way they are made. No need to add anything. For dessert we had the Apple Strudel. It's a large portion of Apple Pie and Apple Cobbler mixed together, made from scratch with Ice cream on top and a sprinkle of Powdered Sugar. Yum. The reviews were right. Little Germany lives up to the hype. I will return. The next time I go, I'm going for the German Chocolate Cake!

    Nasty Sauerbraten

If I could give zero stars, I would. The restaurant was interesting, to say the least--bright, bold colors that felt completely off for a "German" aesthetic. The food was barely edible. The sauerbraten was overwhelmingly sour and downright nasty; I took two bites and couldn't continue. The steak wasn't properly cleaned and was full of tough membrane. The potato dumplings were so dense you couldn't cut them with a knife without serious effort, and the cabbage was somehow worse than prison food. The best thing we had was the Lipton iced tea. To make matters worse, we were overcharged by $10 because the waiter couldn't do basic math. $14 + $16 + $3 does not equal $46. That alone made us feel robbed. The only redeeming part of the experience was the laughter my boyfriend and I shared through clenched teeth while trying not to throw up.

We went for dinner today. It wasn't busy. It was clean and the staff was very nice. However sadly the food was very plain. It lacked flavor. It wasn't bad just very underwhelming. I had the the Jaġer schnitzel with mashed potato's and mixed veggies. Hubby had the Hungarian style goulash. The best part of my dinner was the salad, which was just lettuce and a very few slices of cabbage with a few croutons and the onion gravy served on the side. As an appetizer we got the cheese fondue. It did have two pieces of mushrooms in it but other than the mushrooms it was completely tasteless. The bread served with it wasn't t bad and it was a generous amount. My mashed potatoes were tasteless and the veggies tasted like frozen veggies. The goulash also lacked flavor no seasoning whatsoever. I would not recommend it . Could just be me I like more flavorful food.

Spätle had a weird translucent look about it and tasted nothing like it should.

3 stars is an average of the food items. And the prices are low which is why I give 3 stars. Potato soup was delicious (but not the puréed type I'm accustomed to). Warm potato salad was not that but instead cooked potato mess with too much vinegar. And the spätzle - the thing that should make the drive worth it - was terrible. A beloved German menu item and I couldn't eat it, in part because of its weird translucent look. I want this restaurant to succeed but they have to pick up their game, even if they have to up their prizes of all food by $1.

    Bowl of kids pasta!
    Brad M.

This was our first time to try the Camp Bowie location. There were a lot of very high points, and a few of the low points. Low points... we asked for a small bowl of a few noodles. $15.00 for an adult helping of spaghetti on the kids menu seemed a bit much. They cut it in 1/2 and cut the price in 1/2, but that will be about 6 days of food for my kid (see photos). We were appreciative the owner came from behind the stove to make this right. There was no music or ambiance at all, just a few beer steins and tchotchkes. We were early for the dinner rush (5pm), but no one else was in the restaurant. High points: This building is clearly an old diner, and the new owners run it like one! Lots of food, huge portions, mastery of the deep fryer, and highly efficient! The waitress was very nice, and the owners/ cooks are the former cooks of the German restaurant up the street... so I have been eating her food for years!! The potato pancakes were thin, crisp and on point! Apple sauce and sour cream made them yummy! The turkey cordon bleu was fantastic! The inside cheese was melty without running all out, and the "football cheese" on the outside was delicious! The combo platter had two cutlets, one pork and one chicken. Honestly, it was VERY VERY hard to tell the difference. Once you added the mushroom gravy, they were indistinguishable. The apple streusel was not what I expected, but came out piping hot, and we were offered ice cream. I did really enjoy it, but it was very sugary. 4 Stars for being solid all the way around!

I'm actually very glad we came here instead of the other places we had planned on going for lunch. When we went, it was not crowded and we got seated quickly. This place is fairly big, with plenty of tables and space. They also have a dedicated "beer garden" on one side of the restaurant. For food, i had to get jager schnitzel with spaetzle. My wife ended up getting duck. Before my food came out, they also brought out a salad. I don't know if it was part of the jager schnitzel entree or the duck... But the salad was amazing. Everything was pickled and very intense flavor. Both entrees were great and i also like the fact that they have a kid's menu that serves german food. (I was afraid the kids menu would have simple items like burger and or chicken tenders, but that's not the case here.) the lunch portions were perfectly sized.... granted its not "texas sized" but it did its job and i left satisfied. What i really like about the place is the interior decor. It looks like the owners brought back so many trinkets, souvenirs and photos from their trips to Germany and it makes it feel more authentic. This was actually one of the saving grace from waiting to get our food, i tried to look around to see all the different things on displayed. Service was great. I'll definitely be back!

I give no complaint to the food and the ambience, as I have always eaten well and enjoyed the jaunty, light-hearted ambience that this restaurant has provided for decades. My wife and I decided to take our kids out tonight to try German food. The service tonight was abysmal. We waited for twenty minutes for our waiter. When someone finally arrived, he was rather abrupt and rude. Tables around us who were seated immediately received bread before us. Our pickled vegetable side and a beer was brought out promptly, but this would be the only part of our order we received. We waited for over an hour without being checked in on one time. Once! The waiter appeared from the kitchen a couple of times clearly eating something and then disappeared for almost half an hour. When he finally reappeared I asked for more bread, as the kids were getting antsy. He did not verbally respond to this, but walked off and returned with a basket which he more or less tossed on the table, making an obvious effort to avoid eye contact with me. After an hour and fifteen, someone else came by and asked if we were okay. We responded that we were just waiting for our food. This person, too, disappeared without a response. At an hour and a half--kids hungry and depleted of whatever patience they had--we left. This makes a bitter end to what has otherwise been a joyful patronage to a local legend.

The ambiance seemed on point for this type of place. I'm not sure how old this place is, but it seems well lived in and kinda dated, but this is reflective of what I think is the old world charm. The food was okay. Grilled sausage was exactly that. The cabbage had caraway seeds so be mindful of that. The potato salad was pretty much left on the plate. It didn't seem worth the calories. I would rather of had plain over what that was. It wasn't bad, just not to my wife or my own liking. I would be back to try something else maybe. Nothing was bad here, but also nothing was special to draw a craving from me. We will have to be hungry and in the area not wanting other offerings nearby for us to give it another try. Maybe for a beer or something. They had an extensive imported selection.

Ordered from two disinterested employees that were not friendly at all despite being super slow business wise by the looks of it to get some food to go as we were leaving. Ordered currywurst and gave the standard normal tip. They were cooking/letting one brat sit on the grill when I walked up I noticed. A little expensive. Left to go pick more food up while they were making it. Picked the food up and brought it home when I discovered they gave me a regular brat in a bun with no sauce or anything else in the box. It looked exactly like the one that was on the grill when I opened the box, which isn't a big deal if it was prepared to the order as currywust. I get you prep for orders I guess when it's busy. I don't think that was the case for my visit. I can't say for certain it was the same food since I left, but based on how it was received, I'll lean towards it wasn't prepared to order. Your mileage may vary. This part is reviewing what I received. It was definitely nowhere as good as the last time I had their normal brat and was dry. They cut the brat a lot, which is fine if the brat stays juicy normally but they killed it with this one and cooked it too long I guess, but it was so dry. I don't remember any of the full brats that I've ordered in the past being prepared like this but I'm not the chef. I only ended up eating a couple bites before throwing it away. I should have checked the box, but I assumed with no other orders and lots of time standing around chit chatting that they would get the only order correct. I felt a little awkward walking up, waiting and waiting, and then having to try to get their attention to pick the order up after obviously being there 5 minutes before to place the order without anyone else waiting in line to get the food. I wish I had some of the curry sauce or onions or something to add some moisture. I think they just didn't care or wanted to mess with someone. I was super friendly and thankful for their help at the time. Disappointed to say the least as the currywurst is what I wanted. I definitely think something happened when they moved from the entrance on the first floor. This used to be a delicious, busy, and reliable favorite. Not so much anymore. What a shame.

Which was perfectly ok with me since I was going to go pretty simple and get Das Original, which is the traditional mild pork bratwurst. It smelled good and it tasted good as well. The bratwurst was so juicy that I was kinda scared that the sauces were gonna go everywhere. The brat is actually longer/ more than I expected, so I'm kinda happy. One definitely won't make you full however - so prep for that. Food kinda made my coworker a little hungry as well haha. Maybe if I'm in the area next time, I'll try one of their other brats... I see a curry one haha. A good place to pick and try some of their foods as a snack.
