Shop inside Santa Barbara Public Market
Edith S.

This little shop is located in the Santa Barbara Public Market. There were few bakery items upfront and a large menu sign on the side. The shop was well lit and organized. The service was great. The staff were very kind and my order was received within a reasonable amount of time. I ordered a Churro Latte and two hot chocolate drinks for my kids. Unfortunately, none of us were satisfied with the drinks. I also tried the hot chocolate drinks and all three just seemed watered down. There was only a hint of flavor, not rich at all. I don't think I'd come back for the drinks but I am curious about their food items.

We decided to try the breakfast burrito here again today, even though last time it was not a great experience, but that has been a year ago or more. And since then I had read where people were suggesting that they had some really good breakfast burritos. I will always give somebody a second chance. Oh my goodness what a huge mistake. We ordered the Los Alamos burrito and it was tasteless. It was supposed to have bacon, peppers, eggs, potatoes, pepper jack cheese. It was hard to find the bacon. In fact I'm not sure there was any in there, maybe some bacon grease. Actually every ingredient except a couple peppers were chopped and cooked to mush. The cheese you could not identify because it was so saucy. And I don't know where the potatoes were? The eggs you could see but they were tasteless. Lesson learned never get another burrito here. You have been warned. The counter staff was friendly. But it took forever for our order to come and they were not that busy. However, he said they share a kitchen and so they had to wait their turn. That was his excuse. If the burrito had not cost $16, maybe I could excuse it. But at that price, there is absolutely no excuse for the lack of ingredients.

Service is quick and friendly. I asked which is the most popular between Cafe de Olla Latte and Oaxacan Mocha and they said the prefer the Cafe de Olla latte. Cafe de Olla latte not as strong flavor profile compared to other places but it's a great pick-me-up. $6.50 for this size is not bad. Specialty drinks in Woodland Hills like this would be $7 something nowadays. Parking was sad, especially for commercial buses/vans. The parking lot next to the food hall should have more handicapped spots, or that whole lot should be handicapped and the underground parking should be exclusive to non-handicapped vehicles. My thoughts.

Happy to announce that I've begun a new relationship with "Little Heart Cafecito" inside Santa Barbara's Marketplace. They also deliver great food, but the coffee will be my focus. With so many latte choices paired with Mexican favorite flavors, it was difficult to choose just one coffee. The barista said to me before making my selection, if it's not ching** you get it free! Ok! Not only was he so confident in his skills but he also delivered a most amazing mocha! The best part, the spices and chocolate are blended in house to give their mocha that mucho gusto sabor! Try it and see for yourself!

Based on the reviews, I expected better. The place itself is cute - it's located in the market with a chill vibe and lots of options. Service was just okay since you walk up and order at the counter. It was also pretty expensive for what we got, but that's typical in a tourist area. We ordered the horchata coffee, hot chocolate, steak tacos, and chilaquiles. The coffee was honestly terrible - it tasted like a burnt cinnamon candle. I usually finish my drinks because I hate wasting food, but I couldn't even get past two sips. The chilaquiles were good but way too spicy, with so much spicy salsa at the bottom that I couldn't finish them. The hot chocolate was just average. The only thing I really liked were the steak tacos. Overall, it's a cute spot, but for the price and how hit-or-miss the food was, I wouldn't go back.

The kids and I spent a day in Santa Barbara and by serendipitous luck I got to try Little Heart Cafecito! I had held off in getting a latte in the morning and I was so grateful I had the chance to stop in. The barista that helped me was so kind and helpful. He recommend the Churro Latte. You guys! It was a dream. The perfect balance of flavor, if you could turn a churro into a liquid Little Heart Cafecito has done it! They are inside the Santa Barbara Public Market which is so beautifully decorated. It was peaceful inside even with all of the different food stands and a busy day. I absolutely enjoyed my experience and I am told that they have the best chilaquiles. I believe it! And can't wait to try them!

Owned by Chef Ramon Velazquez, a native of Guadalajara who began cooking with his grandmother and mother at a very young age, Little Heart Cafecito is the sister eatery of Michelin Bib Gourmand recipient Corazón Cocina. Little more than a stall adjacent the flagship, a few savory items plus several types of Coffee, Little Heart plies its trade in Dulce including the thick Orange Flan and sopping wet Tres Leches also offered at Corazón. Open from 8am until 8pm daily, fresh-baked Breads typically sold out early, dinner guests need not fear as Little Heart's selection is well-culled and faultless whether one chooses Rice Pudding beneath confit Pineapple, a loaded Cowboy Cookie or additional seasonal Cake slices flavored by Pumpkin Puree or Almond Milk and Cinnamon.

This place is a great brunch option in the Public Market. They have good coffee, great desserts, and really tasty breakfast tacos, breakfast burritos, and a few other items like chilaquiles. Their orange flan was life changing for me. I even made my own orange flan because it was so darn good. They also have great coconut and strawberry tres leches cake. Again, so good that I had to make some for myself. Their breakfast tacos are large with fresh ingredients. Their eggs could be fluffier but I but I was impressed by the way they cook steak. Actually tender, not dry, it could have eaten that steak as a whole meal. It's not quite as good as Taco Deli in Austin Texas but this is still a great option for SB. There's a lot of seating around the public market so you should have no issues finding somewhere. All in all, this is one of the options at the Public Market that has been around the longest and there's a good reason why.

we had a birria breakfast taco on a flour tortilla as a snack and it was amazing! their cafe de olla latte was also delicious. my husband had an iced matcha latte, it was solid.

Chilaquiles
Ricardo G.

Chilaquiles are bomb. I added brisket 1/2 lb from Que and it hit. Cashier and servers can be friendlier. What I mean is that maybe a welcoming smile can go a long way. Coffee was good.

Los Alamos Burrito

As a Mexican, who eats a lot of Mexican food, and as a person who eats a lot of food in general - hubby and I agree - that this burrito was delicious and hit the spot. Not just as Mexican food, but food in general. He loves cafe de olla but it's difficult to find a spot to do it justice, and he was happy with his choice!! I'd love to go back and try more food from here - but we're about a 3hr drive - that's how good this place was!!

The food is so delicious and flavorful. The service was very helpful and recommended their popular items. We went early as soon as they opened up, and we got our food quickly. There were so many places to sit down. I would definitely go back!

Great coffee and great service. I haven't been to Santa Barbara in years. It was great stumbling on this small niche coffee shop.

Los Agaves On De Lavina St. -- A Rare Review from Someone Who Hates Writing Reviews…read moreI spent 25 years owning a business. I know what good service looks like, and I know what entitled looks like. I never write reviews -- I watched Yelp destroy good people over bad nights, and I swore I'd stay out of it. Tonight changed that. I sat at the bar. It took the bartender over five minutes to acknowledge I existed. Another five to ten to deliver a Coke. I ordered dinner and waited forty minutes -- which I might have forgiven, except getting his attention was nearly impossible the entire night. No eye contact. Body language that made clear I was an inconvenience, not a guest. Every interaction felt like I was interrupting something more important. When I finally got him to check on my order, he went to the computer and discovered he'd never placed it. I walked out. I noticed the people around me weren't faring much better. The slowness wasn't just my experience -- it was the room. Los Agaves appears to be a popular place, and maybe on another night with another bartender it earns that reputation. But entitlement has a way of spreading when nobody checks it. I hope management is paying attention -- because a beautiful restaurant dies one invisible guest at a time.

Be sure to order what you need because the line gets long and you don't want to get back in it if you didn't order enough beers. Bring cash. I didn't realize how hard it was to find a cash machine in SB. I found more bitcoin atms than cash atms which is wild. There was a line of people waiting. Took us a little over 30 minutes from getting in line, to ordering and receiving the food later. CASH ONLY. Their specials menu seems to change every day or so. We ordered a taco de hongo (sautéed mushrooms with epazote in a light cream sauce w/ 2 homemade corn tortillas), enchiladas de plaza (chicken breast, potato mushroom, red chile sauce, topped with cheese, chile pasilla strips, cream sauce, avocado and radish), a tamal norteño de puerco (pork tamal), #16 súper-rica especial (pork on 3 tortillas, a modelo, and a piña pepino agua fresca. All for around $63 without tip. They had a tomato salsa, salsa rojo, and salsa verde options. All were delicious. All of the food was excellent and super flavorful. I would say my favorite was definitely the tamal. So savory and the masa was the perfect texture. The pork tacos and mushroom taco were close behind, also delicious. The enchiladas were my least favorite. Still good but I just don't think I can be an enchiladas fan no matter how hard I try!! I just am not a fan of the texture of the tortillas when sauced up. Nevertheless, everything was finished up and nothing left behind. The agua fresca was also super good and refreshing. Very sweet and a little thick so we thinned it out a bit with some water. They have limited outdoor seating but a lot inside. A single bathroom right by the parking lot entrance. Nice and cute spot with hard workers. Would definitely come again!

I can't speak to the other menu items, but I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, the Gambas al Ajillo. The prawns were cooked perfectly, and they came with a couple of crusty pieces of bread that were ideal for soaking up the delicious sauce. Despite how much I enjoyed it, the portion was small, and I didn't feel full afterward. I paired my meal with two small glasses of wine, which were also overpriced, though the wines themselves were excellent. I appreciated the opportunity to sample a few varieties before making my selection. The service was outstanding. My waiter was attentive and brought both my food and drinks promptly, so I never had to wait long. Overall, while the food and service were very good, I believe I could find similar dishes elsewhere at a better value. I'm also not particularly fond of the location. We had a couple workers walk by without asking, but he was so kind enough to make us comfortable. The drinks we ordered were so refreshing. We ordered the Costa Blanca, De Aqui, and the Bengala de Granada. The drinks were so crisp that it almost felt like a palette cleanser. The yellowtail crudo was perfectly balanced between sweet and citrusy. The oysters looked spicy but were pleasantly mild! The octopus was tender and soft. The paella was flavorful and nicely garlicky. Loquita is small and cute. It's a little packed inside once it gets busy, so it was a relief we got seated outside.
