Berry compote on ricotta
Rhonda F.

I've driven by a million times so at last I've parked the car! A devotee of Little Rock Cafe at North Rocks I could see that they have a common mantra. Friendly staff, indoor dining and the option for enjoying the outdoors under the big awning. So that's all good. When I opened the menu I seemed to be in a totally different place. There is far less choice here which was disappointing. Nevertheless my berry compote on ricotta and sourdough was a light and delicious way to start the day, but I must admit that sitting outdoors right on Old Northern Road was quite noisy.

Even better seating after new playground area put in, never disappoints on food or service

So much potential unrealised. This cafe in Stockland Mall has prime position with seating both inside and out but they are just missing the mark. Employing a series of uni students and on the weekend, high school kids, they need to tell them that they are in the service business. The food is great, they have a lovely smoked salmon salad and they do great pasta but getting the right people and spending some time on he floor with the customers may help. The owners (who work on different shifts) stay close by the register and the kitchen and never mix with the customers. Occasionally you will get a smile from whoever is serving you but its rare. If you go there past 2.30pm they hurry you up because they have to wash the floor or clean tables. The coffee could be better, I've never had a good cup yet. I don't know what brand they use, they don't have any signage that Ive seen so I presume they use some catering pack or their coffee machine needs a good clean. There's a childrens paly area next to the cafe so mums can watch the little ankle biters while enjoying a cold drink with friends. My score: Could do better.

Big breakfast, I got a side of Hollandaise with it too. Yum!

We walked through the madhouse that is the neighbouring cafe and wondered why this place was quiet…read morewith few customers...we are still wondering. The cafe is perched on the corner of the carpark. From the road there is a path that will lead you to the door but from the shopping centre you need to negotiate another cafe and a kid's playground to get to the door. After watching an early game of kid's soccer we were after more than coffee and it wasn't very obvious that they did other stuff until we grabbed the small font menu. On went the glasses and we spotted Spanish eggs and omelettes. One of each and a cappuccino was our order. The also have loyalty cards for coffee so I grabbed one just in case the coffees were good...and they were. The food was good. The Spanish omelette came out in a dish that was layered in beans & sauce, then slices of chorizo topped with mozzarella and eggs. You will need bread to mop up the plate and there are two slices. I needed 3 so I pinched one from my dining buddy. The prices were on par with the rest of the centre for this sort of meal,

Slow service, average food and a tv on all the time, thankfully without sound. The only way I can…read moreunderstand this place but only surviving but being somewhat busy, is the sheer dearth of options around here. Unless you're desperate, go to Arthur st cafe or Mint Fresh instead.

On a voucher for breakfast but I would be happy to pay full price for these dishes. The restaurant…read moreis in the building on the corner of Church St and Victoria Rd which houses the Coles supermarket. Parking is metered at this end of Parramatta but you can park a little further away and walk. The restaurant faces a courtyard and is next to another similar restaurant; healthy competition? Our waitress was on the ball. Whilst we were four adults on a voucher, we had two children in tow. She was mindful that a baby cino might need more than one marshmallow..we ended up with four. She was clear on what was and what wasn't included in the voucher and double checked on how we wanted our eggs & toast. As for the food....very good and generous portions. We did add to the meal with iced coffee and other drinks. The coffee was very good. The restaurant has seating inside and outside. It is quite open and there is plenty of room to park a stroller. There is also a bar that serves beer and wine. As it was breakfast we gave that a miss this time.

The world is a very different place from the time I was a child and there are many good places…read moretheses days and Basket Brothers is one of those places. The food is lovely. I had a granola bowl with some delicious mango concoction and coconut yogurt with lots of fresh fruit and house made granola. The coffee was good as well. And I got to sit outside. It finally rained in Parramatta the last two days so the air was fresh. I highly recommend Basket Brothers for breakfast and coffee.
