Great tasting sushi, but last experience left a sour taste. After our first round of orders, we were told that since we aren't eating the rice they will have to charge us for it and if that's ok. I said no it's not , server said it's fine this time but if we order items that comes with rice we have to eat it . If they charged me for the rice that I don't eat bc it gets me full quicker, that tip would depreciate. I come here to enjoy a good meal and this last one wasn't it, it ruined my appetite. First round of food was still good though **next time I come back and I get charged for not eating rice, the odds of a good tip will be very slim :)** EVERYONE SHOULD DO THE SAME!!

Came on a Saturday evening with friends. This is an AYCE Sushi in the Katy Asiatown. We were a large a party. Little Sakana does take reservations. It didn't seem too busy for a Saturday evening but probably best to get a reservation just in case. Getting here was easy and easy to find. Plenty of parking. Nice complex to eat and even get dessert or after dinner coffee/tea. The place is pretty decently sized. Very open, bright, and clean. $36 for dinner (ages 11+). Note that youre limited to a 2 hr dining time which starts once you are seated, not when you first order so keep that in mind. Even if your party is incomplete, your time will start once you're seated so consider waiting to the whole party is there. You order off a sheet that has 3 rounds on our but you are able to order additional rounds if you get that far. I'm not a fan of having to fill out the sheet as its not quite ideal if you're a large party. Trying to gather everyone's order on to the sheet takes more time vs going one by one to get everyone's order in. The items also just come out all together on the same plate and sometimes we forget who ordered what and the amount. Our party was split into 2 ordering sheets. Table A and Table B which was indicated on the street But it really didn't didn't help any when the food came out. When the food runners came out, they were placing the orders on the wrong side of the table which left confusion on whose order was whose. Or the other side accidentally eating the others order. The menu selection has the basics and traditional sushi. The sashimi selection only had 9 options and thinly sliced.... like size 2 deli slices (IYKYK). 3 slices of sashimi at Sakana world equate to 1 sashimi slice normally. The Sushi slices were thin too me as well and placed on a hefty portion of rice. There is a leftover surcharge but it's not explained in detail so idk if that included the rice. It does seem the place does try and in hopes to fill you up on the rice and fillers. We did come with experienced diners who told us about the "secret menu" you have to ask for. They do not advertise it nor informed by the wait staff unless you literally ask. They are "premium " or "specialty" sushi pieces that are limited to 2 pieces per person. One of their advertised special of the day was Liver of Munkfish. Limited to 1 per person. The Monkfish was a first time for myself so not sure how it was to taste but it didn't really have a flavor to it and texture is velvity. It was served over seaweed and the seaweed over powered it i guess. Sushi rolls come in mostly 4 pieces and some in 6. The Lemon roll and baked scallop rolls were the tables favorite. The salmon skin appetizer was really good. The spicy Kani salad was a popular one as well. The agedashi tofu should be skipped. Garlic ponzu salmon and soy salmon sushi was another favorite. Our waitress was great and very nice. She checked on us frequently. For $36 the sushi and menu options were okay. Unfortunately the "premium " selections and secret menu didn't stand out or tasted premium to me. We had a nice dinner with the friends but sushi quality was in line with just above mediocre and the tricks in an AYCE place is on par to limit your consumption. For me, there's better ayce sushi places worth the "premium " price and gives better cuts of fish without the need to order triple the number just to get a normal cut.

I have always been a little nervous about AYCE Sushi spots but Little Sakana has helped open my eyes to the possibilities! The food was both delicious and fresh and it was great portion sizes I had a wonderful server I believe her name was Michelle. The space was cute and inviting. My only takeaway is when delivering the items the were quickly dropped off and you couldn't hear/ understand what toll was what. Outside of that I will be back when I'm in the Katy area.

    Pretty small and thinly cut

This was just an okay experience for me. Great location, nice modern interior, fantastic service.... But the sushi was just a little small in size and thinly cut causing me to eat too much rice. I did just order from the standard menu so maybe the premium service would put bigger cuts on the plate, but I doubt I'm going back to discover if this is the case or not.

2nd time I've been here! The coolcumber cooler is a must order! ANDERSON was our waiter the 2nd time and he is so attentive! He is really nice and considerate. We never had a dirty dish or piece of trash on the table for longer than a minute! If you're lucky to get him as a waiter be sure to tip him well because he deserves it!

Modern, minimalist aesthetic. Servers are all friendly and good parking spaces on this side of the plaza of Katy Asian Town. WARNING: MY GOD, there's so much rice in their rolls. Their salmon and yellowtail kama, although good, are huge. You have been warned. Only get it if you have someone to share with. Ex-boyfriend nigiri are my favorite. Green mussels are another good option that's not too heavy. Everything else was a blurr besides remembering to not get those damn rolls cause it's huge and so much rice. Complimentary ice-cream at the end was just okay. You only get one scoop.

I got the ayce option on a weekend during lunch. I recommend coming here during a weekday lunch for better prices. The quality of fish is decent for ayce. The service was pretty fast surprisingly when the server was in charge of so many tables that I felt pretty bad. The place is pretty clean and spacious!

What an amazing restaurant in Katy Asian town. This place exceeded my expectations , they have a huge menu with all of it being tasty! The salmon nigiri was the best thing here! The citrus soy was the best out of the 4-5. Super friendly good service. Gets crowded fast. Food came out fast. I highly recommend and would come back!

Probably one of my favorite spots for AYCE sushi! Just a heads up, if you get cold easily like me, I would bring a sweater because it's pretty chilly inside. The restaurant and bathrooms are well-lit, clean, and nicely decorated. The AYCE menu has a variety of different dishes to choose from and I loved how there were different sauce options for the salmon and tuna nigiri's (i.e. garlic ponzu salmon, citrus soy salmon, umami oil salmon, etc). For the appetizers, definitely get the crispy salmon skin! I wasn't sure if I believed my friend at first when he was hyping this up but he was right because this was so addicting. The texture and savory flavor of the salmon was so addicting. I will say, compared to Sushi Masa and other AYCE sushi spots that I've been to, Little Sakana has more rice in their nigiri's so that definitely filled me up faster. Speaking of rice, some of the rice kept falling apart as we tried to pick up the nigiri but overall, the quality of the fish was great! Aside from the great food, our server Michelle was fantastic! She was so welcoming, kind, and attentive during my friend and I's dining experience. I'm looking forward to when I can come back and explore more of the other food items on the menu. Pro Tip: Say you want to order from their secret menu! You won't be disappointed

back again and still loving the quality and portion sizes here at little sakana! Service here was quick as always with the sashimi portions very generous, always a bonus. I am a big fan of all the citrus sashimi but you can't go wrong with the classic sashimi. Their appetizers are also plenty with my favorite being the tempura! What I really appreciate about this place is how we are able to put in large order at a time and they bring out the food pretty fast!

I've tried AYCE sushi in Houston, and I'd say this one is the most fresh. I enjoyed it enough that I came back for a second time after my first visit. Pros: - The sushi is fresh and tasty. Just enough rice. - The staff is friendly, and the food came out at a good, consistent pace. - Dedicated free parking but a little tight. Cons: - Lack of seared nigiri. They only have seared tuna. - Pricier. - The appetizers were fine, but nothing special or unique. - Lack of dessert choices. Might've just been confusion, but during one of the visits, our party only received one order of the "chef's special" despite the menu stating it's one per person. I asked our server about it, but they never came back with an answer or the rest of the order. Final Verdict: Overall a 4/5. The freshness makes the price worth it for me.

Love the service and the quality of sushi for AYCE. Service and ambiance is friendly and fast.

Went to Little Sakana AYCE with a big group and had a great experience overall! The service was quick and attentive, which made managing a large table really easy. Our sushi arrived fresh and tasty, and the special items were absolutely standouts--definitely worth trying. One minor thing: they didn't automatically give wasabi, so we had to order it separately. Also, they weren't too strict with the paper ordering system, which actually made things more relaxed and enjoyable for our group. Overall, a solid spot for AYCE sushi--fresh fish, great specials, and good service, especially if you're going with friends or a big group!

Our table was stable, but because of the angle from the windows, the light kind of blinded one of our friends in the face. I would recommend stronger blinds for the front. I really liked the decorations. They were all sea shaped based, like a few of the lights were "waves". I thought they were cute. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and the servers are friendly and helpful. We stopped by for an early dinner on a Saturday evening, so the restaurant wasn't yet busy when we got there but started to fill up as we ate. There are so many different ramen options and toppings to choose from. You can choose to get the low sodium option for all the ramen if you prefer, and they also have free unsalted ramen broth refill. They also have other dishes besides ramen, and you can also customize any existing dishes with other toppings as you'd like. I got the Garlic Tonkotsu Shoyu ramen with spinach and corn, and my boyfriend got the Spicy Ramen. Both broths were so rich and flavorful. They were both slightly salty, so we also got the clear broth refill which made them just right. The ramen had a perfect chew, and the toppings were flavorful and delicious. I usually don't like bamboo toppings in ramen because of the ammonia smell, but I tried some bamboo from the Spicy Ramen that my boyfriend got, and it had no strong bamboo smells at all. I was so impressed. I also ordered the Japanese curry with chicken kaarage to-go, and they were also really tasty. I will definitely be back to Kizuki for more in the future.

I was so hungry I forgot to get a photo of the initial presentation, but the noodles were perfect and the broth was tasty. The selection is a bit more limited for lunch, but the price is lower than dinner as well. Being AYCE, I wouldn't expect the highest quality, type, and cut of fish, but what they had was pretty solid, tasted fresh, and was delicious. A minor complaint would be they had no sashimi option, even for the tamago which I personally believe is eaten best without rice, but that's just minor stuff considering the good value here. As much as I try to find a reason not to give this place an outstanding rating, if I compare it to the AYCE category of restaurants, it did everything right. They do have a regular a la carte menu, with a selection that looks like a treat in itself. As for me, I highly enjoyed their jalapeno bomb to start. I highly doubt they used snow crab, tasted like imitation crab, but I enjoyed it nevertheless and got another order at the end. I tried a few nigiri while I was here, with eel being my favorite (and thank goodness for no bones, which was lucky because it's eel). Their tacos were an unexpected standout and is worth a bite or two. Using sheets of nori and frying it to it holds up like a shell is pretty genius and more places need to do this. I had a good time with their Burning Alaska signature maki, which has salmon as the main star. The smokiness from torching was a killer! Their curry reminded me of S&B, which might very well be the mix they used. I was a bit disappointed to not see fish katsu as an option considered it's a sushi place, but I can see the katsu curry selection being a good option as a comfort dish. I wish I had the stomach space to try out new stuff, but maybe next time. Wish someone would post a photo of the salmon skin salad, because I'm a bit curious about that!
