His "shushing" me in court, hand gesturing me to shut up, allowing the plaintiff's party to sit there for 5 hrs and attack my character with hardly a word of protest. WOW! One star is generous. Prior to hiring Mr. Stevens, I consulted with him to confirm that he would…read moretake my case to trial. Despite issuing subpoenas, he never interviewed crucial witnesses nor prepare for trial. The two most egregious actions, out of several, were him not securing premarital assets and him withdrawing from my case less than a week before the third trial appearance. During the first trial appearance, he pulled me outside the courtroom and told me he spoke with the opposing attorney about what WE are willing to SETTLE for and started rambling off numbers. To say I was shocked, is an understatement, During the second appearance, he had an unfinished formality for another case and when asked which case he wanted to pursue, he chose the other. At this point, I had paid Mr. Stevens five figures in legal fees and had nothing in exchange. Upon receiving his next invoice, I demanded that he perform as agreed and refused to pay another dime until he did. He then withdrew from the case, leaving me to represent myself. While this sounds horrible, it was a blessing in disguise. Since he had not presented sufficient discovery to ensure that the premarital assets were indeed mine. all of my assets were subject to division. By the grace of God, the judge denied the divorce which gave me the opportunity to regroup and find a qualified attorney. Ayo Steven is a Settler as described my a court staff. He will go through SOME of the motions of taking your case to trial with no intention of doing so. He will also bill accordingly. I'm surprised he's still barred. There are much better and more honest attorneys available.
