Little Steps is amazing! Our daughter is now is almost 3 years old and has been going to Little Steps since she was 4 months old. All of her teachers have been so caring, attentive, loving, and compassionate to her. We can tell she is so loved. She is so excited every morning to go to daycare that she is usually the first one there and last one to leave. There are so many things she has learned before the age of 3. She can say the whole ABC's and identify many of the letters, count to twenty, and identify and say all the colors and shapes just to name a few things. She is also completely potty trained thanks to Little Steps with no accidents at all any more it is incredible. They really worked with us and her and helped so much. We are so grateful for all they do and we tell all our friends about Little Steps. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. We toured with my son was he was little over 1 years old and I mentioned to them that he was delayed on standing/ walking. The teacher then seemed to have no problem with it and didn't make it a big deal at all so we decided to put him on the year long wait list so he could start once he turned 2. Closer to the start date, I made a phone call and mentioned he was still delayed in walking but walking with assist now and according to his PT, could be walking any day now. The school had to talk to the church and they called me back with the decision that they couldn't not allow my son to go to their preschool bc he would not be able to participate with the other kids. That is completely false because I take my son to many diff toddler classes and gym classes and he is such a outgoing little guy and great at participating. This school/church is discriminatory, gives out false information & frankly could be racist for all I know. They mentioned how were the only Indians who would be in the school. Do not waste your time. If they are treating my son like this before he even started school with them, imagine what they would do without his parent(s) knowing when he's attending school. When you pick up your kiddos from school and they don't want to leave or stay longer and play with their friends, I don't know what anyone else could ever ask for! The Director Liz, Ms. Erika and the whole support team of teachers and assistants are amazing!! Everyone is beyond caring, helpful, friendly and always available for any questions or needs you might have! Little Steps has cared for our 4 year old son just over a year and a half and our 2 year old daughter for almost a year. Both of our children love this school! We as parents love this school! Classrooms are always clean, filled with artwork and a whole lot of love...outdoor areas are filled with fun, activities, and a wonderful playground area for lots of room to run around and play. Teachers are always working together to create a fun and safe environment. Each classroom has a cute theme name and own private Instagram account. You can see pictures and videos on the daily of progress and all the learning they're doing and fun they're having! I love how they make each holiday/occasion special and will celebrate with education; and don't be afraid of bringing in a piñata for a birthday celebration! Can't forget about pizza Friday's with fruit and applesauce! Or during the summer months each week is dedicated to a special theme! Hands down I am so thankful and blessed for this school and everyone that has a part in it! My 2 and 4 year came here after being in another preschool in the area. We instantly fell in love from the minute we took the tour. Not only were they way ahead on the learning curve of their other schools they had so many more family and kid functions! Movie nights at the school for kids and family Pumpkin patch trips School trips Gym bus Amazing athletes Holiday recitals and MORE. Before bringing my four year old here he could barely count to 20. (His prior school had a lot of play time outside). Now, not only can he count to 29 ( yes, we are still working on 30) he has a composition book (provided by the school) that he writes his first name and sentences in daily! His teachers are beyond amazing and keep you in the loop with everything going on in the classroom. The director Liz is so kind and has always been an email away if I ever needed any questions answered. I would highly recommend this school / preschool/ daycare to any parent looking for a school with a ton of caring teachers in a loving environment that you truly feel safe leaving your child with all day. My daughter went to Little Steps, starting in the infant class to the 2 year old class. The infant class was good. No complaints. The one year old class was good too. Things took a turn for the worst in the 2 year old class. I had to pull her out and find a new school. When she was there, I would pick her up, finding her pretty badly scratched without any explanation from the staff. They didn't want to work with me to potty train her. They wanted her potty trained before she could be sent in underwear. I was baffled in that they were not willing to work with me being that she would attend full-time, so how could I only train her evenings and weekends? There was no planned academic curriculum. The classroom looked very stoic. They had alphabet letters up extremely high on the wall, out of sight for the kids. They would just have the kids scribble in notebooks many times and lots of outside play time. Teachers wouldn't acknowledge the kids at times when the kids would arrive in the morning. Finding an opportunity to talk to the teachers was a challenge since pick up and drop off would be handled by one person. I would have to text the teachers questions, which really isn't ideal since they shouldn't be on their phones during school hours. I can go on. I do hope things have improved for them, but I would run in the opposite direction if this school was my only option. read more

We love Little Steps. We have two boys (now 3 and 1)--both have been here since they were infants. It has been such a relief for us knowing that our boys are loved and well taken care of. The bright, open classrooms make it easy to see what's going on inside, all of the teachers know all of the kids by name (even those not in their classes!), and communication has always been open. Our boys have both thrived here. Their vocabularies are excellent for their age, they've learned colors and numbers and letters, how to listen and stand in line, and on and on it goes. The best part? They both RUN into school in the morning, and more often than not don't want to leave at the end of the day. There are days when my wife and I feel bad that we both have to work, but knowing that my boys LOVE being at school and seeing how much they're learning and growing makes it that much easier. Is it the cheapest? Probably not. Do I trust the teachers? Absolutely yes. And that seems to overwhelmingly be the case for most parents, many of whom exclusively use Little Steps teachers as baby-sitters. I HIGHLY recommend Little Steps if you're looking for a pre-school, day-care or infant care in the La Jolla/PB/Clairemont area. read more

We couldn't be more pleased about our experience at Little Steps. From the moment that we toured we knew that we were at the right school. The Director greeted us with a smile and took the time to answer each of our questions. As an education professional myself I had a lot of questions and expect a lot out of my child's school. Little Steps met and exceeded every one of our expectations. The teachers are professional and loving. Our daughter is eager to go to school in the morning and we receive full and detailed reports about her day when we pick her up. If ever we have had a question or needed to speak to the Director she has made herself available and has been incredibly supportive of our family. Took my child a while back for their first experience in preschool and our child was there for 4 hours. He came back scared and with a diaper rash. We returned the next day to pick up our child's belongings and the staff didn't even ask why we withdrew our child. Apathy and lack of care were concerning. Glad this facility works for others. My husband and I both work full-time and have three kids 6 and under. Our oldest just "graduated" from Little Steps, and our 3-year old and 6-month old are there now. Little Steps is absolutely as good as it gets; the teachers are wonderful (we use many of them regularly as babysitters) and the director is always striving to make the school better and better. Every day I leave work and race to pick up my kids, only to find them happy and not wanting to come home. They have made great friends and have learned so much. I have two kids that have been going here since they were 6 months old. My oldest is now 4 years old, and the youngest is 23 months. I absolutely love this place and would be lost without them! The director, Liz, is very helpful and accommodating to my work/school schedule. The teachers are excellent and treat my kids like their very own. My son will always tell me something new that he has learned that day. I'll never forget the first time my son sang the entire alphabet, recited the 7 continents, or the first time he wrote his own name. I give so much credit to Little Steps because I sure didn't teach him any of that! The teachers always go above and beyond my expectations. It's great when I get picture texts of my kids playing and learning. And when it's time to be picked up, they never want to leave! As a first time mommy it was difficult for me to find a place that my 7 month old (now 20 months old) that I could trust and feel comfortable in leaving my little one. All of the teachers and Liz, the director have been wonderful to work with. They've taken care of my little one and helped him grow, develop, and mature to a young toddler. They have always been so flexible with drop in dates and drop off / pick up time. We are moving to a different area of San Diego, but I hope our next place will be just as great! I've had both of my children at Little Steps since they were 5 months old. Now my son is in the 3's class (Pre-School) and my daughter is in the toddler class. They both love going to school, they love their teachers and enjoy learning. The teachers and director have all been extremely caring towards my children. We've had teachers show up to our children's birthday parties and they have truly become our second family. I feel so blessed to have found such a wonderful Pre-School. I know that my children are in good hands when they are at school. Aside from the loving environment, my kids have also learned so much. They've learned new songs, create lots of art, learn how to write, explore many different science topics through hands on activities and have learned a lot through weekly chapel. I also really like that the kids get a lot of free play time because that is very important at this young age. They get at least an hour of outside playtime in the morning and same in the afternoon. The school also has different visitors come throughout the year such as the tooth fairy (dentists), firefighters, doctors, etc. which the kids always seem to enjoy. During the summer there are different "camp" themes for each week and the kids get lots of outdoor time and have fun playing with different water activities! I've never had any issues with my children since they've attended little steps. Any time my child has gotten hurt (for example a skinned knee) the teachers will text me a picture and fill out an ouch report explaining how it happened. Overall, I am very happy with Little Steps and I would recommend it to anyone with kids ages 0-5. read more

After researching and touring several preschools in La Jolla/Pacific beach and UTC, Little steps was the stand out choice. Our son has been there for a year and a half now and we couldn't be happier. The curriculum is great and we find that he is learning things other schools aren't teaching until years later. The outings are fun and the teachers and other parents feel like a family rather than a school. Everyone is friendly and the kids are taught wonderful Christian values. Our daughter has been at little steps since she was just a baby and now she's about ready to move into the PreK(4s) classroom. She loves her school, the teachers, and all her little friends. Little Steps has been a very good experience for her every step of the way. The director and the teachers take a person interest in the kids and families and it really is a community and not just a daycare/school. It's hard to be a full-time working mom, but Little Steps helps make it just a little easier because you know your kids are in loving hands. Little Steps is a great daycare and preschool! The teachers are knowledgeable and loving toward the children, and they communicate well to the parents. The teachers in the infant room even text me pictures of my baby throughout the day sometimes, which is always a comfort when I can't be with her. I also love the Christian influence at Little Steps. It creates a warm learning environment while embracing the core teachings of Christ. All around, Little Steps is a great place to have my baby. Our youngest has attended Little Steps since she was an infant (now pre-K) and our oldest attended pre-K . First and foremost, both girls have been very happy there and have made very special connections with many of their teachers. And we have experienced many wonderful and talented teachers during our time there. It is clean inside and the playground is spacious. It is very well run by its director, who is very approachable and understanding, for which we have been very grateful. I do wish they offered more free (non-led) art/painting as an activity choice (they do do lots of art projects) but as that is pretty much our only 'con' it is easily outweighed by the 'pros'. The summers are filled with lots of theme-based fun and learning making it seem like camp. They are also treated on numerous occassions throughout the year with a jumpy house which my older girl (now finishing grade 1) still misses. I have no hesitations about recommending Little Steps as a caring and professional daycare for infants/toddlers and a wonderful start to education for pre-school/pre-K children. read more

I have a preschooler and an infant at Little Steps. We have been at the school for the past year and I can't tell you how much my husband an I have appreciated being a part of the Little Steps family. I do say "family" because that is the type of environment it is. We have been at Little Steps throughout the turnover of teachers at the school. We loved the teachers that were there when we started but we also love the teachers that are there now. I feel like the program has grown so much in terms of the experiences and organizations that the new director has gotten the school involved with. This past summer, the program has had 2-3 events a week - from a visit with a police car to celebrity readers to a bouncy house. On top of that, there have been pizza days, popsicle parties for the class with the most school spirit, and water days. Both my husband and I work full time, so our children are at school all day, almost every day. I am so grateful that they have an engaging, caring, warm family at school with teachers that will look after all of the children to make sure they are growing emotionally, academically, and physically (making sure they nap and eat their snacks/meals) while I can't be there. Academically, I am SO happy that the program has been rigorous and has prepared my preschooler to be well ahead of where the kindergarten teachers start in September. I've toured 10-15 public and private schools looking for the right place for kindergarten, and I'm sure that my son will be in a very good position, academically, when we start in September. For my infant, the teachers take so much care to make sure she is stimulated and engaged so that she can make as much progress as she can towards early developmental milestones. For anyone considering Little Steps - I strongly encourage you to see the school and talk to the teachers and other parents yourself. I've found that this school to match or exceed the standards of every other preschool I've visited. read more

We have been a part of the Little Steps Family....yes it is a preschool...but it sure fees like family after 8 years! Our oldest started there when she was 7 months old and our youngest is about to graduate from there pre-K program. Our kids have been in every room from infant to pre-K over the years. We absolutely LOVE Little Steps and all they have done for our kids both academically and socially. The director Liz is phenomenal and prides herself in having great staff. When our daughter entered Kindergarten her teacher commented she must have come from a very academic preschool and she was very prepared for elementary school. We also love the faith aspect of Little Steps. The kids attend chapel every Wednesday and come to know and love the classic Bible stories. The Christmas Performance is the best preschool performance you will ever see and the kids love being a part of it. After 8 years at this school, our "baby" is graduating pre-k and our time at Little Steps will come to a close. We have loved this school so much I am sad to not walk through those doors everyday. Our daughter started at LSCP on her 1st birthday and is about to graduate in one month. We have had been blessed to have the best teachers all 4 years. The teachers are so loving and strong. Our daughter has grown so much emotionally, socially, and academically at LSCP. As she transitions to kindergarten, we are very confident that LSCP has prepared her to hit the ground running. My 4 year old son has been going here for 9 months. After leaving the horrible preschool he was at for a few weeks (Mission Bay Montessori Academy) I was not sure how his first day was going to go. When I came to pick him up he actually wanted to stay. He has not cried once since being here. The teachers here are absolutely wonderful. They have plenty of play time but also have learning time where they teach them how to write and read in order to prepare them for kindergarten. They do lots of crafts and have sports like soccer shots and amazing athletes every week. Although this place does say preschool they do have an infant and toddler classrooms as well. Each class has there own curriculum even the babies. They work with the babies to help them reach there next mile stone and do crafts and outside time with them as well. A major pro for me is that they allow you to bring your own food as long as it is peanut free. Also I love how you have to know the access code to get in so it is very secure. I am going to be sad to leave this place in August when he goes to elementary school. I would say the only issue I have is that the class he is in does not always go outside at 4:00 like it says on the schedule. They tend to go out a bit late. It would be nice to have them get more outside time like the other classrooms. read more

Choosing the right daycare/preschool for your kids is a huge decision. 2 1/2 years ago, my husband and I were in a bind, we no longer liked our son's (20 months at the time) daycare, I was 8 months pregnant with our daughter, and we needed to find spots for both of them for the upcoming months. After visiting Little Steps and meeting the teachers and director, I immediately felt comfortable and signed both of them up. During the last 2 1/2 year both of my children have really enjoyed their time at Little Steps. Our son who is 4 1/2 loves going to preschool and is even excited about doing homework. Our daughter loves the teachers in the infant room so much that, still at 2 1/2 years old she goes to say hi to them every morning and is always welcome with a big hug from the teachers. I feel comforted that I know my children are around people that love and care for them tremendously. The director Liz, makes time to listen to every concern, as crazy as it might be.
