One of the most expensive ways to get lunch in the City centre but well worth it as a payday treat, highly recommended if you fancy treating yourself at lunchtime.

The staff however didn't seem to be pushing us out the door and were not unhappy when we ordered dessert, even after watching the lights within the kitchen being turned off lol. The menu itself is huge and definitely geared towards seafood, although there are some meat only entrees as well. I started off with the SCALLOPS and HAGGIS and loved it. Honestly the scallops didn't need to be there and the haggis on it's own was amazing - this is showing my true Scottish side lol. If you don't know what haggis is I suggest googling, but only if you're brave. I also ordered one OYSTER as I couldn't remember if I had tried a Scottish oyster before. My parents warned me that it may be conch-sloppy (Bahamian reference) but the oyster was lovely. Great presentation, although very pricey for one oyster! For my entree I had the PORK BELLY and PRAWNS. Prawns were a bit fishy for me, but I find this to be the norm with prawns in England, and the pork belly was slightly less fatty than I'm used to, but overall this was a solid dish. For dessert I had the TREACLE TART and loved it. Not exactly on my diet, but I wasn't sure when I'd be back on this side of the pond again and I wanted to take full advantage of all the desserts I'll be missing out on lol. Overall the ambiance was great. Very pretty restaurant with just enough "sea" theme to be tasteful and not tacky. Although I hate eating at chains I'd definitely dine at another Loch Fyne again.

We were a group of 5 (2 parents and our 3 daughters aged 11-19). Our starters were: Haggis and Cheese Spring Rolls; Salt and Pepper Squid; Chicken Terrine; Smoked Haddock Scotch Egg and Chili Garlic Prawns. Couldn't fault any of them at all. Our mains were: Sirloin Steak (cooked just how we asked for - blue) with a half Lobster; Tuna Steak Melt; Crab and Lobster Burger; Angus Beef Burger with a half Lobster; and a Whole Baked Lobster. The dishes were good value - £31 for the surf and turf, £26 for the whole lobster..... We all felt that the lobsters could have been a bit meatier but they were cooked beautifully (not hint of rubberyness!). The espresso martini's are SUPERB and our server was terrific. Yes, service was a little slow at times but, as I've said, the place was heaving, the staff apologised where necessary and to be honest we were there for a leisurely family meal so we were in no hurry. In all I highly recommend this restaurant, it's certainly a great addition to the expanding dining scene in Shrewsbury.

Our only 'complaint' would be that now Henri's is a restaurant rather than a pub, I had expected a little more from the staff. We weren't greeted or checked on by the manager, who was milling around the entire time. The second time was fabulous. The food outstanding. Again, a great waitress and this time we had personal interactions with the manager & the chef also walked through & stopped at our table. The 3rd time I found the food to be a little disappointing & we did wait a long time for dessert. We knew the chef this night was different to the 2nd time. The cafe is warm and welcoming, yes, cramped in the entrance where the servery is, but I tend to go early or late for lunch. Although tempted by the hot lasagne, or other dishes, I invariably go for one of up to 3 choices of utterly delicious nut-based roasts, of which a big chunk is warmed up if you wish. Chutney is a good accompaniment. As the fresh salad selection is so colourful and includes many interesting and inspiring combos of raw veg/fruit - I always go for the full platter offer - and crunch my way through them. Loose leaf teas and tisanes abound, with a pot of hot water in addition to the regular pot. Desserts to die for - but probably best fetched if you have room from the massive plate of salads! I tried a seasonal fruit and nut tart in December and it was truly scrumptious! [sounds like a song!!!!] The staff at The Good Life are friendly and knowledgeable about the food served. I sing the praises of the establishment to any friend I can, and have introduced several to it, all vowing to return.
