Pumpkin spice latte and a caramel apple cider. Small little cafe right by the bay. The caramel is so slight, the tartness of the apple cider. Maybe a bit more caramel to make it a bit sweeter. What a great little coffee shop. I ordered an almond milk macchiato. It was delicious. The presentation of the macchiato was average, so I wanted to test out the flavor of the cortado. I ordered a cortado with the unsweetened almond milk. The flavor of the cortado was perfect. The presentation was average. I usually look for a beautiful presentation, but as long as the flavor is amazing, I'm OK with it They have some baked goods here. They offer several different types of muffins and cookies. They also sell bags of whole bean coffee, honey, etc. The staff was amazing. The woman that waited on me was very kind, helpful and friendly. I like the message this coffee shop is sending to. They sell some shirts that are basically about being a kind person and a good human. I love that message. This was a great little find. They lose one star for presentation. read more

Solid coffeehouse! I'm staying in Saginaw and drove to Bay City for this highly ranked coffee shop and it was worth the drive. Atmosphere: Cute and quaint coffeehouse right off of the water. The barista are soooo nice and make great suggestions! The place is small but still a nice place to either study (free WiFi) or to catch up with someone while in the area. I've been going to live oak with my wife for years and we are generally very happy with the coffee. I have noticed in the last few months that on occasion, it seems like they have a new barista in training and sometimes my cappuccino has been rather disappointing, but I understand it takes time to learn to make a good cup of coffee, and as a whole I still think live oak is a good place to grab a cup before work, or sit and talk with a friend. It's not easy leaving a bad review, but it's difficult to get me to write one. This "coffee shop" screams amateur hour. Lady at the bar didn't know what she was doing. My drink was awful. Watching this "barista" do their job, I was just so taken aback how someone could work and simply not care what work they did. I wish I could have such a life. The worst part was the ice they used for an iced drink. Little tiny shavings of ice which quickly disintegrate once the liquid hits them. I wanted an ice drink, not a slushie. Live Oak is one of my favorite coffeeshops in Bay City and definitely worth visiting. The atmosphere is perfection. There are nice chairs with comfy pillows to sit on and read or lounge, tables to be social (or do work) at, and a bar/counter area for additional seating options. However, it is not a large spot, so keep that in mind if coming with a big group. I've never had a problem getting seating, though. Staff is friendly, attentive, and covers all the bases for A-level baristas. I am in love with the decor and all the personalized touches. It's got a calming vibe. Coffee leaves nothing to be desired. Good options, good quality. The snacks are also all delicious, especially the homemade granola bars. Worth noting that it's not an ideal spot to grab lunch, as the food is mostly baked goods. read more

Happy to see a new local cafe filling this spot. Bay City needs the variety of coffee shops to keep things interesting. The vibe is casual and friendly, but a bit claustrophobic. The large planter in the middle of the space is unnecessary and awkward. There's decent seating but I wish there were a few spots up at the bar. It's a small space so all the extra stuff just gets in the way of a nice, open feel. The menu has a variety of options such as pour overs, espresso, teas, cold brew, everything you'd expect plus a bit more. My latte with coconut milk was made very well and met my expectations for flavor. Their baked goods are from Crust in Fenton, which is already carried at Harless + Hugh Coffee AND City Market, so I'd like to see something new as opposed to the same thing all over town. Perhaps a more local bakery or in-house baked goods? Overall my experience was good, and I'll be back to see how they grow in the first few months! read more

Live Oak is now in Bay City! It's the best kept secret when it comes to getting your caffeine fix. It's locally owned. They use small batches of coffee beans for their pour overs. Much thought has gone to making sure that the ambiance complements the coffee. This place doesn't use satellite radio for its background music but their own carefully curated playlist. Some of my favorites at The Fix include, the mocha (coffee with milk and the homemade chocolate) the hot cocoa and the house made sodas and flavorings. They offer coconut milk as the non-dairy option and have a rotating variety of vegan baked goods! The baked goods are crazy inexpensive and so decadent. The Fix holds events such as Open Mic Night, gaming tournaments and art shows. They're a great addition to Bay City! read more

Light bodied and masterfully brewed. My wife asked for a specialty number, a white chocolate raspberry latte, which wasn't even on the menu. Our barista obliged and hit a home run. I love The Fix. Both the owners (Jack Rechsteiner and Bri Dominowski) are close friends of mine -- though do note this is an UNBIASED opinion, as should be. The Fix is an excellent coffee shop. The Fix has both an environment for morning business folk to energize, and the average caffeinated fiend to enjoy a cup of coffee. Using a clean space with an energizing yellow wall and natural wood, The Fix is a lovely space in the growing Uptown Area of Bay City. The bakery portion by Ms. Dominowski is one of the best in the area IMO. Especially great, since the ingredients are almost always Vegan friendly. This is fantastic, as it allows the whole public to enjoy something sweet. If you are ever in, and they have a cake open, do yourself a favor and GET A SLICE! You will not regret it! The coffee is very well brewed, with Mr. Rechsteiner educating himself over the years -- and continuing to learn and expand his knowledge and the knowledge of his staff. Using as many local ingredients as possible, this coffee shop is guilt free is many ways. Also, they make all of their syrups in house from fresh ingredients, a nice touch! Worth the visit, especially since The Fix uses a loyalty rewards program to which ever five purchases grants you a 50% OFF coupon to use at your disposal.
