The Virginia Zoo is a great way to spend a few hours with the family. If you are local to Hampton…read moreRoads I highly suggest purchasing one of their memberships. The zoo offers discounted tickets to special events for members and even has an event where you can bring your dog! I really enjoy that this zoo offers plenty of different species of animals and wide open areas for kids to explore. A train is normally running and the exhibits have wide trails with plenty of viewing platforms and windows. The staff is always friendly and they have a robust gift shop. I haven't personally ever tried their food but they offer a few cafes and dipping dots throughout the park.

I was extremely eager to finally come to the zoo. It's been years since I've visited one. I came…read morehere on a Friday with my son, who was also excited to see animals for the first time. There were many children, which looked like they were on a school trip. Before coming, I searched the zoo's website and found out they had admission discounts for whomever had Medicaid. It stated that admission price was $7. Of course, they had to ID you to see if your name matched the card. To my surprise, admission was just $4.95, which was a steal. I brought in food and water for my son and I, as most people did. First stop was the Fountain Plaza, where I had to figure out which way I wanted to maneuver. I went left to Asia and Africa trails, as my son wanted to view tigers, lions, giraffes, and monkeys. Each exhibit had 1 or 2 animals. Very bare. The monkeys had 3 the most. Not too many animals were active, which is understandable because this is their normal wild habitat. I was expecting to see my favorite animal, the elephant. Apparently, they are no longer there, as well as gorillas. I enjoyed the giraffes, rhinos, and zebras in Africa. They had the most energy. The cheetah and lion were off the exhibit that day. Following those trails, my son wanted to ride on the train. It is $3/rider. They have a strict policy of having all hands and feet at all times during the ride. This all took 2hrs. I didn't bother checking the other side of the park because it was starting to drizzle. This zoo was just ok to do something with your kids so that they can get acquainted with various animals from other parts of the world or just a date. I've been to better zoos, it was just so bare. Be prepared for lots of walking, so bring water.

So I thought this was going to be an in-eventful zoo experience when I read they charged, but how…read moremany zoos can you go to where the escort is a Peacock? Right then I knew this experience was going to be different. And they did not let me down. They had animals that you don't normally see at a zoo, like the Bongo, or Bison, and a Watusi longhorn. Now we went on a chilly day and most of the animals were hibernating but no worries after we walked around the entire park, we just went to the administrator office and asked for comp tickets to return on a warmer day. I really wanted to see lol the animals but there were a lot of empty displays. I do recommend you download the app so you don't miss anything and also it looks like they are expanding. This is the first zoo I been to were they had a petting zoo as an attraction. It was a great experience! Until next time..another not so Fatboy Adventure.

This was my 2nd visit to the zoo with my parents, husband, and daughter. And it was as good as I…read moreremembered it. Parking is free. Admission was around $17, but they do offer AAA and military discounts. They have a wonderful array of animals - lions, tigers, and bears...giraffes, zebra, rhino, and so much more. Peacocks are wondering about and there's a pretty cool reptile/amphibian exhibit. The zoo is spread out but not huge. The parking lot was completely full but the zoo didn't feel crowded. If you don't go to a live show I would say you need a minimum of 2 hours to go through the zoo. They have places to purchase food but they don't check your backpacks so you can easily bring in drinks/snacks of your own if you want to save some cash.

I'd give 0 stars if I could. She offered to go to the correct address & said the 1 hour party would be cut short & that I still owe the full $350. This is after I already paid her $50 for mileage. I paid her a total of $400 & received NOTHING from her company. Such a disappointment for my sweet little girls 2nd birthday. Horrible communication & customer service is lacking BIG time! Please do not waste your time with this company!

NOT a fan of the zoo keepers providing buckets of bands and ladies hair clips so the kids can do…read morewith as they wish on the animals. Animals should be treated with respect - not like dolls. It may not harm them however it teaches the kids they're allowed do this with animals and the animals aren't supposed to mind it. So what if the kids try to do this to theirs or someone's dog or cat and they get bit or scratched!?? Who is going to be punished? More than likely the animal. Also... these animals are NOT supervised as I watched kids (brats is more like it) poke the poor rabbit in the eyes then poke at the chickens while the parents did absolutely nothing but smile as though it's how these animals are supposed to be treated. The rabbit was a nervous wreck (shaking) and I felt so bad for it. The ducks were left in the blazing sun (sitting in their drinking water trying to remain cool). Finally after a couple hours of roasting, the man moved the pen in the shade. And poor Moonpie, the goat, remained curled up on the ground tied to a post and appeared very unhappy, perhaps even ill. Would not even lift her head to look around. She shouldn't have been out there not feeling her best for socializing and then forced to bear the pokes and kicks by unruly kids. I truly enjoy petting zoos however they must supervise the animals and make sure they are treated with respect. If there is not enough of them to watch all the animals then provide more people or bring less animals. This made my day at this even an unpleasant one, so we left.
