I have seen many changes at Grace Family Church over the years, but coming back and seeing so many familiar faces still attending is refreshing in this day and age of selectivity, entitlement, and super polished mega churches where it sometimes feels difficult to get connected. Kids that I used to babysit are now there with their own kids, which is very telling to me because they could have gone to any other church when they grew up and had a "say" in where they went, but they chose to stay at Grace. The church is not perfect. No church is, but that allows GRACE to be practiced and exercised. One thing that hasn't changed at Grace Family Church is excellent, well-researched, Bible-based solid preaching from the senior pastor. Because of proximity or other reasons, some of my family members no longer attend, but they highly respect Pastor Jeff and are always interested in what he has to say. If you are looking for a church that is ALIVE, welcomes everyone, but does not shy away from solid biblical principles, you should try Grace Family Church. I love to sit up on the balcony during worship, look down, and hear so many voices singing and see so many hands raised. The music does not overpower or ever turn into a glossy, over-performed stage show like many others today. The worship leaders currently rotate weekly, which I like so that it does not all center around one or two people. This church is very missions-oriented, supporting short and long-term missionaries, especially to unreached people groups. The kids program has a check-in counter and uses very strict security protocols for picking up the children. The building and seating is very comfortable, with heavily padded chairs and a fresh and clean décor. Parking is decent. You can always find a spot, though it might be in the grass.

They've grown our church to two full services and we will be expanding to a third soon. Jason is annointed as a pastor. His sermons bring you into such a close walk with God. He digs in and gives you details that most pastors don't. I love that! The childrens' ministry has blossomed and grown too! There are many families here, but our church is a true cross section of every walk in life. All are welcome here! Ascent members are kind and helpful. I love how everyone pitches in and helps when we have projects or ministries. It's a little bit of a hike as I live by downtown, but I wouldn't think of worshipping anywhere else.

My husband and I attended this church for little over one year…read more After awhile I joined a small day Bible study group of seniors. The teacher was older and knowledgeable regarding the Word. I attended the small group for about 4 to 6 months. Then, as life would have it, our old van broke down and we were without transportation altogether. This was during a break in the summer of 2025. Our leader called and invited me and invited our group to Applebee's. Now at that time there were two or three people in this group who knew we no longer had transportation. No one bothered to ask if they could give me a ride to the gathering at Applebee's. So I did not go. One girl did call me (after the Applebee's meeting) and asked how I was and I said was "fine" I told her I had no transportation to church, explaining why I wasn't there. She didn't say anything. A few months went by and we still had no wheels. Thankfully, our daughter allowed us to use her car for grocery shopping. Then the leader of the group called again, one day, and said she'd be having the Bible meeting at a different location. I told her I still didn't have wheels and she mentioned that maybe someone could come to get me. I have to be honest here . . . I wasn't feeling it anymore. Let me state that the lead pastor always gave indepthful, wonderful teachings (Bible studies) every Sunday. In addition this church facilitated a lovely luncheon for seniors each month, called 'Young at Heart,' with Pastor Marie, a compassionate, wise, godly woman. All was very good on that front. However, every Sunday we went, we noticed nearly no one brought their Bibles! Some, but very few, used their cell phones for Bibles, but most, 90% sat there looking straight ahead at the pastor and the power point overhead. Oddly, the lead pastor, Mark, never mentioned or encouraged people to bring their Bibles to church, not even once in the entire year I was there. As an illustration, when you were a kid, when you went to science class, you brought your science book. When you went to math class, you brought your math book. When you go to church, you bring YOUR BIBLE! (Novel idea!) To add to that, most people would blindly walk past each other filing out of church very quickly, after the service. The "greeters" were the only ones to say, "Hi" and "Goodbye" Now of course if you already knew the person, you'd say Hello, but there was no friendliness among parishioners to stop and greet someone they did not know - thus the mad dash for the door to get to the car. Finally, in the beginning of November of 2025, we bought another car, God faithfully provided! My point to writing all of this is I'm not sure people understand the meaning of the church gathering together. It's almost as if they are checking off the boxes! Just before Jesus died, He told His disciples, in John 13:34, "A new commandment I give you, that you love one another as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." This is Christianity 101- learning Christ's love and forgiveness. To me, if you can't find something that resembles and acts like "family" and "agape love" at a church you've attended for over a year...the simple act of saying, "I could give you ride" doesn't exist, then you missed the entire point of church. It wasn't as if I lived far out of the way. Matter of fact, I lived right "on-the-way" By the time I was invited to the new small group meeting location, I no longer felt as if I belonged there...even when the leader politely said that maybe someone could pick me up, I was no longer interested. I think she picked up on it, in my voice. My emphasis here is to say, genuine love and care was sorely lacking in this church. What I found very odd, is that no one brought their Bibles on Sunday morning and neither did they bring their Bibles to small group ( except for one lady ) So I strongly doubt most of them even know or understand the heart of the Gospel. I am not upset with anyone there, for I seriously think, they know not what they do. I wish everyone who attends Highpoint well . . . but I guess I was just at the wrong house . . .
