What a great name! This antiques shop on a corner street half way through Goldborne Road has the…read moreboldest and funniest name for a store in London. Is it really the dog's bollocks as it says (in French yes) on the tin? Well it depends, if you are in quirky and unusual, even slightly kitch, antiques, it's a pretty cool shop then. I like that, I even love that and have even managed to get my wife into it (yes I did get a beautiful buffalo skull with huge white horns for xmas). Try the store for unusual decorative pieces, unique antiques and modern pendant lights, original XXth century tables and chairs. Recently the staff got a bit less friendly which is a pity, maybe this is because of the too many (French) laughing tourists visiting the shop at the weekend So it's always better to visit the road during the week if you can (I used to live on the road for a few years so I could do that) or at least on Friday which is probably the best day (if it's sunny obviously). Golborne Road is one of my favourite streets in London, with its distinctive North Western London feel, its blend of portuguese, moroccan, caribbean, French and yes English communities (lately even david Cameron lives around but not sure he shops there although I may be wrong). Worth taking a look and why not, get tempted by something unusual for your living-room.

So maybe getting up at 4am is the best, as visiting at 9am (A REASONABLE HOUR, THANK YOU) meant that that Square was perhaps 1/2 full of stalls. Maybe the early bird does indeed, catch the worm but I shall never know. Anyway, this Market happens on Friday AM's. There are stalls selling acres of china, silver cutlery, lace and that one stall that sells royal commemorative tat that I salivate over. Not much furniture, mostly small collectible things. There's also a food stall or two, plus a nearby (slightly ghetto) Sainsbury's.

Because it is an antique dealers' market and not a regular vintage/antique market, deals go quickly. There are hundreds of high quality and reasonably priced stalls selling an overwhelming array of goods. I have only done it twice when it first opens but it is best seen before dawn when you see people examining their goods with torches and the lights from their phones.

Zero communication, Zero for customer service - AVOID…read more Purchased a table from this company on their eBay shop. I sent an offer which the seller accepted, took payment then decided to cancel my purchase at 11.00pm that evening. No communication, no courtesy of an explanation, nothing. This wouldn't have been such an issue if I hadn't purchased a matching credenda unit. I'm honest in my dealings and honour my obligations, shame this seller doesn't share the same level of integrity.

It is filled with rather battered and individual pieces of furniture, art books and the odd broken object. Nothing is priced or has any indication of being for sale, instead the drawers and cupboards have more of these antiquities housed inside them, a few months ago even a collection of modern plastic sunglasses appear in the shop. The shop reminds me of the strange things you might find in a house left behind by an old rather senile person, but I love it. I love furniture and I love when you can see history and personality in it. Everything in here is unique and honest. Expect to find a deteriorating leather chaise, a large industrial tin locker unit, a 60's lampshade and an encyclopedia of African Art hidden behind a 1950's school photograph in a smashed frame. Everyone deserves to visit Bleu Furniture.

There are various items for the home such as candles, sprays, linen and pillows. There is a small selection of clothes and night wear including dressing gowns. Upstairs is where they keep the children's clothes and accessories (they have a lift) and it's lovely to have one or two of their pieces for your child if you can stretch to it. I have always found something of interest at this little store, and usually don't walk away empty handed. The selection of jackets and books out the front are always worth going through. Looking through second hand books can be tiring, but I have never found it to be a fruitless endeavour at this place. It is the kind of place that has old and interesting wallets, bags and other accessories. I picked up a little coin purse here once that I still love and use. Overall, it is definitely one of the best charity shops in Hackney.

It's also one of the cheapest charity shops I have ever been in. I once bought a pair of boots in here, real leather I'll have you know, for £3.50. The fact they were a size 7 and I'm a size 4 is irrelevant when it comes to s fine specimen of footware. They guy who works here too is a dream, even let me use his loo once when I was caught short while browsing. What adds to the joy of this place is that no one actually knows how good it is as there is so much crap falling out the main entrance that it can be daunting.

I find the clothing shop in contrast rather dull and uninspiring. The collections seem to merge into each other as a muddy mass (with the colourful spark of Orla Kiely occupying one rail) Mrs Robinson's fashion is however, normally quite popular. I must admit, most everything in this store is pricey. Don't think you're going to buy a really amazing lamp in here for under twenty quid, you better bring some dough. If you're into really inventive and stylish home décor and you're willing to spend £50 on a really nice piece then have a look in this store. You will be impressed.
